Alliteration For the Planet

Wonderful wonders woven within wild.
Titillates theatrical tender thoughts
Consistently creation, contrives conservation concerns.
Ecology evolves equations, entitling entities essence.
Empowering equality, enlarges existence.
Life lovingly leases Longevity.
Biodiversity braces, blatant brutal balding.
Deforestation, destruction devoid due definition.
People physically, plundering planet.
Prevalently procuring, products proscribed
Pilfering practices producing poisonous pollutants.
Greenhouse gases generated, generously grievous.
Temperate temperature’s tempers tumultuous.
Creating Climate changes, causing catastrophes.
Planet purges peril predominately.
Preached, placid platitudes, politicians podiums paced.
loved lives logged listed lost.
Lacuna languished, lessons least learnt.
Losing Life lingers, listing leeward lazily.

Premium Member Snowdrops' Glow

Each reel of snowflake leaves behind,
fine traces of her glowing days,
a melancholy cast of mind,
while color sets the world ablaze.

Where flies a gold and opal whirl,
as the moon's lulling course disbands,
and chilly winds of winter swirl,
the hardened heart against it stands.

And yet this night contrives to hold
a promise, tinged with freshening air.
As droplets wing the crisping cold,
a glinting gem lies hidden there.

For with this frosty change, at last,
a love remains in snowdrop's glow,
whose mist will counter tattered past,
to flutter down like feathered snow.

Premium Member Some Fell Upon Stoney Ground

Seeds were sown on fertile soil while
SOME FELL upon STONEY GROUND

(This is a poem about one of the latter)

Oh affluent lady in smart design
Scurrying to Tim’s bar to taste of wine
But one and all can see beneath the paint
Scars that pay heed to a lost soul so taint.
Consumption foremost doth addle her mind
When desperate to track a daily grind
Eyes witness testament of her flurry
A lustful grin contrives her to hurry.
With a shaking hand crystal flute to raise
Each sup hallelujah in silent praise
An embarrassing glance though not a care
Her inner most pain bared for all to share.
Hastily she consumes her liquid meal
Her body pulsates unable to heal
A repetitive shot needed to please
No unsociable craving to be ease.
Silver Jag’s outside all bright and gleaming
She fights with the keys her body screaming
A need to be alone and get away
So she can measure the rest of the day.

Premium Member Beware Tomorrow

Be not soft upon the morrow
For the maliciousness it contrives.
The future beckons unending sorrow
To gamely catch the vulture's eye.

'Tis the destiny of mice and men
To be laid waste by nature's curse.
Where foolishness belied of ink and pen
Will by the margins burst.

Persist not in vacuous dreaming
To make bold some vague intent.
Obviate all grift and scheming
To survive the main event.

There are those with want of glory
To lead sluggish minds astray.
With a foreshadow of song and story
For those with one foot in the grave.

These stygian forces stand ready
To make dark such days to come.
They seamlessly evoke some cosmic eddy
Where weathered voices go unsung.

We are pawns to this game we borrow
With our future slaked with pain.
If your happiness lies on the morrow...
You will be despondent once again.

If you're consumed by fear and trouble
With clouds toned a spectre-grey.
Prepare for further ruin and rubble
With a new sunrise on the way.

Put away burbling of blissful leavings
You think the morrow may provide
With the approach of another evening,
You will not long survive the tide.

You may bloviate a ray of sunshine,
Pushing hope where none exists
With an ignorance to the grand design
Where winds of chaos oft persist.

I will grant the morrow stands untainted
With yet no mark on time and space
But remove this cheer you've now acquainted
And forever leave my hiding place.

Land of the Desert

Little grows in this famished land,
its sad song eerily carried upon the wind
is seldom heard across a land spurned by nature,
as if,
destined to be laid bare.

However,
an indescribable beauty,
defiant of nature, is evident to those
who take time to witness
what lies before them,
yet remain cautious of the danger
this beauty contrives.

Life survives precariously,
a testament to its resilience,
each day a challenge,
this land of desert
offers safe harbor to none.

A sad song is eerily carried upon the wind,
each verse a warning,
enter this land of desert,
death alone is guaranteed.

Villanelle: To what great good singular individuals sacrificed their lives

To what great good singular individuals sacrificed their lives
To free their peoples from the oppressors’ superior mores
Only to find after they’re gone no true local legacy survives

To what great good Mexican peasants seized land archives
When President Zapata refused to administer hard-won laws
To what great good singular individuals sacrificed their lives

To what great good Mahatma Gandhi’s fasting skill revives
The age-old Hindu-Muslim mistrust and Brahmin maws
Only to find after they’re gone no true local legacy survives

To what great good faithful Castro’s will still contrives strives
To keep his Marxist revolution going in open American jaws
To what great good singular individuals sacrificed their lives

To what great good nations boxed in by their leaders’ drives
Go through deprivation depression desolation for saviours
Only to find after they’re gone no true local legacy survives

To cap it all each nation favours some god with inane lies
An excuse to sanctify the nation’s man-made partisan laws
To what great good singular individuals sacrificed their lives
Only to find after they’re gone no true local legacy survives

Somebody's Baby

Somebody’s Baby, lie still
Embalmed in pure white cotton,
Cocooned securely, like the babe in arms
within the shroud.
Seraphim cavort no more upon a form
once touched with shades of youthful innocence.

Somebody’s Baby, be sure.
Your time for dreams now spent,
No future beckons only time captured frame by frame,
Frozen in vulgar technicolor;
Close Up; Explicit, depicting genre yet unclassified;
The epic over exposed.

Somebody's Baby, be silent.
Grey and gnarled imposter in the cot
Metamorphosis contrives a landscape dry and gnarled.
No more seductress of tender ministry;
Solitary, silently; endures the travesty
Of human demise.

Premium Member Battle In the Id

In I'd slide, then slid, into the id.
Inside, the thorny thicket ten feet high
buried behind my mind, where it has hid
arising around me, no way to get by.

In the throes of the hedgerow, the ego goes
a word warrior of literate gore.
Sits there, a moaning monster, as it grows
each foe that is fought, it brings on one more.

The volley of verses is too insane.
Self survives, then thrives as ego contrives
why is there no reason one can explain
to take on all comers, ending their cries.

That battle that we wage and want to win
if you do, you have slayed the you within.

Premium Member Epitaph of a Wandering Soul

Throughout eons she contrives
to casting seeds and see what thrives
as she has done for countless lives.
Experimental.

Traveling through time and space
on cresting waves of light and grace
to be here in this time and place
of great potential.

By the trauma of rebirth,
and crashing on this spinning earth
to walk a path of woe and mirth.
Experiential.

To the beat of her own drum;
to laugh, and love, and overcome;
to act in ways both wise and dumb,
and unprovincial.

Tending to transplanted souls,
traversing over burning coals,
to wet her feet on earthly shoals.
Developmental.

Until her own angelic claque
blasts their trumpets ‘til they crack,
to guide her home; to call her back,
as transcendental.

Premium Member Coming Home

As wartime’s ending leaves behind
scarred traces of its furious hunts,
a melancholy cast of mind
endures this pang with hope ablaze.
Where flies the gold and russet morn,
as autumn’s languid trail departs
and cruel frost of winter grips,
when hardened heart against it stands.

And yet this fall contrives to hold
a promise tinged by coming home;
that onward creeps this riddled war
yet kindled gut lies spritely blazed.
For with this season's chime, at last,
one dream remains in dwelling’s glow
whose light will soothe his brittle wounds,
till country bound, a torment, hushed.

Fritillaria, (Snakes Head)

Where diamonds shape a lantern
harlequins are taunted in jest,
which inaugurates the conviction
attracting an upheld stance.
They stare like a drastic mistake;
thinking it was a corn snake.

Warily, from side to side, surprise!
one way or the other fully fixed;
around those surrounding sceneries
hypnotic is the way its eyes transfix.

It nullifies a moment to the ground
container-like as bulbous ends disturb
like a death's-head rattling sound,
by this inconspicuous perrenial herb.

It is limp to the elusive sun approach
dictating to the forty five degree-
holds head as moments waiting there,
gardeners probe this mauve naivety.
It deceives so contrarily it contrives
I guess that's how fritillary survives.

The Bridge

Between my soul and God there yawns
a chasm stretching out so wide
I cannot see the other side
from where I stand against the dawn.
How great the gulf of human pride,
of degradation, sin and woe;
yet, I the true depth do not know
nor can I judge it where I hide
among the trees, all covered o'er
with self-made robes my mind contrives
of dubious good deeds and lies,
just withered fig leaves, nothing more.
My soul cries out in agony,
"can no one turn the dreadful tide?"
And Christ, the one I have defied,
stoops down to taste my misery.
My heart is wrung in Sorrow's grip;
an awful pounding fills the air,
and, like a dog in mad despair
with glassy eyes and foaming lip,
I stare in holy terror now
as upward, out of that dark deep,
a cross takes form. From steep to steep,
it spans the gulf to where I bow.
There, in my night, I dimly see
the Son of God slain, crucified:
how can two arms stretch out so wide
in love to bridge infinity?

The Treasure of Friendships

Friendships are formed in many different ways,
some are by mutual choice and others by chance.
A sincere comradery will last forever and always
while a few have turned into passionate romance.

Confidants often find themselves telling each other
the darkest secrets and the desires of their lives,
things they don't share with a sister or a brother.
Silly or naughty plans that only a friend contrives.

But what defines a friend? Is it a confidant or a lover?
Someone online with whom we have good chats
and quickly makes us want to know more and discover
what's in their belfry, secretly hoping it's not bats!

Friends offer a shoulder to cry on and an ear attuned
when troubles are too hard for one to bear all alone.
It's important to help a friend who's feeling marooned,
and all they need to do is make a call on the phone.

Through understanding, we acquire a discerning heart,
one that sorrows over sad times and rejoices together
whether friends are always together or far apart.
The best buddy is there in times of stormy weather.

The word 'friend' only has six letters. It's a small word,
but if I call you 'ally' it's because you have my respect.
The friendship bond causes emotions to be stirred.
I'd do anything for a treasured friend when we connect.

Beauty God Contrived

The ebb and flow of salty seas cools sands
Calm rinses burning heat from sunny shores.
A gleeful child builds castles with small hands.
Serenely, Mother watches and adores.
The breaking waves dance when they reach dry lands.
The creatures of the seas stalk ocean floors.
There in the distance far below, life thrives.
The beauty of the deep our God contrives.

The ebb and flow of life has joys and pains.
God comforts every soul who calls His name.
Love like a child’s releases mortal pain.
Sincerely, Jesus seeks each soul to claim.
Distractions of the world are sought in vain.
Our Savior has a message to proclaim.
Because of Christ a sinful world revived.
The beauty of the heart is God contrived.

Premium Member Azalea's Covetous Caress

(Swap Sonnet)

Azalea struts her bloom before the rose
in early spring, to follow jonquil pose
and steal respect from phlox' expanding plume.
Before the rose, azalea struts her bloom;

her fervor glows beneath a brilliant sky
and boldly sends a zealous battle cry
to power down the honor of the rose.
Beneath a brilliant sky, her fervor glows,

while rose's gift survives the touch of time.
Her tint, her scent gives hint of vintage wine
as petals stir, and memory board contrives
the touch of time, the rose's gift survives.

Azalea's burst of color fades to naught
yet rose's blush continues to be sought.
