It is hard to really tell you
The beauty of this man
For many simply find it
Too hard to understand
They laugh, they smile, and tease
As I describe his every being
They just can’t fully see
The splendor that I’m seeing
Though he is just a character
I really can care less
He is real in this crazy heart of mine
So give your teasing a rest!
His hair is black as ebony
His voice as smooth as milk
It reminds me of dark chocolate sliding across oiled silk
His face is pale and serious
With black eyes that pierce your own
His grimness makes me envious
In this world he is alone
His nose is hooked—but not too much!
And his rare smiles are divine
His black robes add a vicarious touch
I wish he could be mine!
As far as personality goes,
I say, he’s quite the charmer!
Dexterously shielded by a past of foes
Beneath his shame of honor
Sometimes he’s angry, but mostly glum
Rarely is he content
He lost his love, cold and lonesome
Sarcasm is his lament!
Alone he lingers in the dark
Torn and set apart
No one knows he has left a mark
Right smack-dab on my heart!
I stared intently at book and screen
When they first came on
Every word he utters is like a dream
And then again—he’s gone!
Nevertheless he leaves me
With a feeling so grand
At loss of words from the awe he gives me
A joy that no one understands
Can I help but swoon and gape,
At the great professor Severus Snape?
*Note: Although Alan Rickman is a contributing factor to my obsession,
I’m seriously just in love with the character…and that is my confession!

A Fairy Tale
By the Poets Listed After the Poem
Once upon a time, long-long ago there was a wishing star.
She, unlike a billion other bright shining stars, was magic.
Bored with her galaxy, she began to wander far away.
Streaking through the atmospheres was very hot, but not tragic.
Pausing to wonder with much time to ponder, she cast her spell.
“Tiny goblins on Halloween, by light one wish I will grant.”
Who should be the recipient of this very special wish?
Earth children roaming streets that night in one hand my gift, I'll plant.
Oh who should receive my amazingly special gift of light?
So many young ones, in who's humble heart this wish I could grant.
Out of all the precious children that have come within my sight.
The child who has the purest wish is the one I will enchant.
I'll sprinkle on my chosen one, crystal glitters, gold balloons.
A ride follows to fairyland, ending on the golden moons.
With a magical flight through a rainbow high where dreams come true,
And a house of candies in the land of Marshmallow-Lagoons...
Oh, that magical light shining through sweet cotton candy clouds,
Her wish she may...her wish she might...there's one ghoul she'll bless that night.
Of princesses, fairies and goblins, a good heart will be found.
Quickly child, make your pure wish, before the magic star takes flight.

Paula Deen the Butter Queen
By Elton Camp and María Camp
She is the butter makers’ delight
To nutritionists, she is a fright
Krispy Kreme with eggs and bacon
Great health risks are thus taken
Her bacon cheeseburger meatloaf
Is perfect if you are a gigantic oaf
For a nation that is already too fat
She sees nothing wrong with that
People who her cookbooks buy
Eat such and may too soon die
She had diabetes for three years
With no caution to change gears.
Her cookbooks flying
Right off the shelf
Likely contributing
To early death
It tastes good, she decreed!
Many folks with her agreed
So many calories, but it is so good
Eat whatever you like is what you should
After her disease she finally shared
To represent a diabetes drug she dared
Cigarettes warn, but not Paula Deen
Of butter, sugar and fat – she is queen
To “that word” she admitted use
There are allegations of other abuse
One is suing and wanting some dough
Is this former employee in the know?
An awkward apology, she did make
How many attempts does it take?
One wonders if she is sincere
Or if it is just fear for career
Whatever happens in the days ahead
Is her heyday officially dead?
Don’t be quick to rule her out
She still has pull and clout
Wise Grandfather Shaman,
I am pure of Heart,
I bathe beneath the Moon,
and dry beneath the Sun,
I listen to the Wind,
I run with the Deer,
I hunt with the Wolves,
I fish with the Eagles and Hawks,
I ride with the Wild Paints,
And roam with the Buffalo,
I grow with Grandmother Tree,
Ever learning from her Wisdom,
I am skilled in Warrior Ways,
A strong Hunter,
A compassionate Listener,
A patient Tracker,
I have gathered with the other women,
Contributing to our tribes growth and strength,
I leave no tracks of moccasins in the soft clay,
My heart is pure,
And I wish to continue my journy,
Wise Grandfather Shaman,
Allow me to enter your lodge,
I will smoke from the sacred pipe,
My heart is pure.
Halloween: Safety First Then Fun!!!
By the Poets Listed After the Poem
Happy day getting candy treats while dressed like spooks and goblins.
Angels, genies, princesses, too, put “loot” in their bags and tins.
Look both ways when you cross the street. Always stay close to your friends.
Lighted homes. Festive decorations. Porches. Pumpkins. Invite!
Oh, be leery of the dark, where ghosts and spooks stay out of site.
Wear bright costumes that reflect at night! Not lose or tight. Just right!
Every child must be aware that some goblins inhabit homes.
Each year we hear of razor blades placed in a child’s candied cones.
Never!!! Ever!!! Eat your treats 'til Mom says, “OK, little gnomes.”
Stay safe! Look around! While you walk, beware of witches and bats.
Always, ghosts and goblins watch. Looking out for sweet treats you drop.
Fear? If they happen to appear parents, quickly call the cops!
Enjoy laughter, hot chocolate, and other treats with your friends.
Take care not to play tricks that could hurt others or cause offense.
Youngsters, polite and respectful, great delight they do dispense.
Fun you will have! Enjoyment too. Be sure that you are careful!
In all situations, “Trick-or-Treaters” beware! Need HELP? Shout!!!
Remember say, “Thank you” for treats when you’re out and about.
Stay clear of Spooky Soupers as they write with their crazy pens.
To write in verse, some witches curse. And drive sanity ‘round bends.
The madness, “Dearie,” is very clear; they strive to make amends.
Hooting owls and wild black cats wildly eat from your mum's pumpkin
Eerily, creaky zombies leave their tombs and walk down your streets.
Night, bubbling soups, you must beware, might be made of your own feet--
Frantic frenzies and fabulous fun begins just before dark.
Under that moonlit chilling night, “Trick- or-Treaters,” find their mark.
Nearby neighbors anticipate. Waiting with treats is a lark!

Will the human race actually feel triumphant
with the extinction of our African elephant,
why don’t humans believe it’s preposterous
that Earth only homes two hundred Rhinoceros,
I being a human feel that I’m a total rotter
contributing to the demise of our giant otter,
do humans think land only belongs to man
creating inevitable extinction of Bornean orangutan,
shouldn’t wildlife be like sheep is to a shepherd
not to oversee the inevitable loss of Amur Leopard,
why do we rejoice, eager to explain our merits
hurrah saved from extinction the black footed ferrets,
we can always tell our children a fascinating tale
about the time we saw on Earth an amazing Whale,
explain what’s that human like creature when they see
a film or video of what was once a chimpanzee,
perhaps if we could stop killing ourselves and animals
then our planet will not seem such a desperate shambles.
Being a bountiful Coffee tree
I have a privileged status in my country
Aside from being functionally free
I’m sought-out as Christmas fixture for December glee.
Every year, I’m a decorated Christmas tree in an Orphanage-home
And I’ve witnessed love, exercised inside compassion’s dome
Along kindness with packed gifts upon comfort’s foam
For youth who once in the streets did wantonly roam.
Delighted am I to behold blessings shared and given
Making abandoned kids receive provisions in their new-found haven
Merrily unwrapping presents tied with care, constantly proven
From donors contributing cheerfully, verily joy-driven.
In my commitment for yuletide holiday's celebration
I stand with the conviction to serve my purpose, full of jubilation
Doing my role that in my beauteous fortification
Special children courageously smile midst their difficult situation.
“Oh, Christmas Tree*…” I hear such song addressed to me with prayer-ray
An ode acknowledging my usefulness in blissful triumphant way
Not only as a Christmas celebration-display
But most of all, to honor the Creator in my tasks every day.
*Judges 9:9 But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?

School Days!
By the Poets Listed After the Poem
Summer HOT fun filled days with plays and toys
Cease! And school begins for girls and for boys.
Holidays in the winter and the spring,
Outdoors sports: football, baseball and swim team.
Old friends and new friends are joined together.
Laughter and learning gifts of forever-
Ding. Dong. Ding. Go inside. It’s time to spell.
Arithmetic. Reading. Writing. DO TELL!
Youngsters when asked what they like to do best.
Simply answer, of course, “We love recess!”

Tidal locking
Like waxing and waning
of moon, his love shuddered,
The tidal locking
that hampered my zing,
Effulgent life lost
in darker side of silvery moon.
In its brightness
drowned my shimmer,
Then it abated into a sickle
to slice my pride,
Forlorn, I chose to live by
the dark side of the moon.
Consumed by its force,
deep on this side of earth
where peace calls my name
I lean and stay,
over the reflection of waves
on the dark side of the moon
The horizon rips my heart
two bodies weaken
by its physical use,
and tidal locking
Welcoming and affecting everything
On the dark side of the moon

I am Thankful to Linda for contributing last two stanzas that have made it amazingly meaningful and beautiful.
~ A poet destroyer collaboration~
Tidal locking- tidal forces from Earth slow down rotation of moon and the same side faces the earth. The other side, the darker side always remains dark.
Winter storms dropped a tiny snowflake on a towering mountain top.
'Tis bright and unique among the myriad of snowflakes that did drop.
This rhyme tells of the mighty contribution that tiny flake makes,
As it begins its odyssey to grace our rivers, ponds and lakes.
It reposes deep within the drifts and gleaming mounds of snow,
And briefly provides winter sport for folks with faces all aglow.
But soon the warmth of spring rouses it from its hibernation,
To begin its journey, meandering to its ultimate destination!
It thaws and with others of its ilk begins to form a tiny rill,
Slowly flowing among the scree and pines down a sloping hill.
The rill becomes a pristine stream carrying the flake along,
Rippling smoothly o'er ancient stones, producing a soothing song!
The stream joins a rushing river, wending its way to the sea.
The one-time snowflake providing succor for land and stately tree.
At last it reaches the ocean, spewing from the river's throat.
'Tis incredible! This once tiny flake helps keep mighty fleets afloat!
At times we may think we're insignificant, contributing nothing at all,
But each of us is unique and can help, no matter how great or small.
Each in their own way can accomplish mighty deeds if only they believe,
Ever keeping in mind that tiny snowflake and what it did achieve!

Among the dandelions empathetic fairy listened to misunderstood squirrel.
She made no suggestions, sat quietly, in silence, nodding sometimes.
Showing him how valuable a good listener can be.
Especially one who does not interrupt to ask questions.
He concluded for himself the answer as he watched her watch him.
It was the best council he had ever received.
And in silence.
Empathetic fairy had helped him fix his problem
Without contributing one word.
I watch the children walk to school
With parents at their sides,
Engaged in conversation
As they march with matching strides.
But when those offspring say goodbye
And leave their parents’ realm,
They step into a world with
Someone different at the helm.
They’ll be exposed to rules and thoughts
Unlike the ones they know,
Contributing to who they’ll be
As they mature and grow.
That morning walk is bittersweet
For it’s the very start
Of heading towards the future
When their paths will have to part.
