She Clarifies Bacon Grease

she clarifies bacon grease
to make the popcorn
once it is in the bowl
add seasoning with butter
a tad of garlic, sea salt, sugar
the layers of flavor are a paradise
scattered in each morsel
this means a romantic movie tonight
probably one we have seen quite often
i never tire of this
holding her hand as she tears
with each tear, i fall in love again
she finds ways to make vegetables tempting
baked, fried, steamed, an array of seasoning
appetizers of soft cheese, celery, small sausages
while the cheese brings a subtle creamy softness
the celery mixes in fiber and mild juices
then assaulted by the piquant sausage
as it races upon my pallet
masticating this admixture
i become a contented bovine
mindlessly working the promised pasture
ruminating before i must surrender
heavens touch to the stomach
that precious smile she wears
watching that consuming ecstasy
as a soft moan of pleasure escapes me
they sit upon a thin elongated rectangular plate
which rests between two slim vases
one has a red rose, the other is pink
she never varies in that arrangement
red is her undying love for me
pink is her gratitude to God for our love
while colors never change
she will add different meanings at times
which she announces after grace
you are more than just a loving chef
you are the romantic that inspires me
you are the poet in the kitchen
whose depth lives within so many levels
i never tire of gazing upon her
she is the third rose at dinner
my Blue rose, the unobtainable
is obtained, the chimera realized
each bite i take is another sonnet
she has carefully crafted
in that enchanting cauldron
those soft moans escaping onto her smile
have become my book of best-loved poems

The Dreaming Soul

THE DREAMING SOUL

DREAMS OF A PASSION

GREATER THAN THE STARS,

DEEPER THAN THE OCEAN,

AND HIGHER THAN ANY MOUNTAIN.

OVER THE YEARS, THE PASSION OF THE

DREAMER CLARIFIES AND INTENSIFIES.

THE SOULS PURPOSE IS TO EXPERIENCE

THE GRAND DESIGN OF LIFE,

AND THEN FIND MEANING WITHIN THE EXPERIENCE.

PASSION IS THE ONLY TRUE INTENTION OF THE SOUL.

PASSION IS THE CRISPY, SWEET, TASTE OF AN APPLE,

WHILE THE SOUL CREATES ECSTACY IN EACH MOMENT.

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

Premium Member A Writer's Style

Poetry is more than rhyme and verse
It brings light and laughter to the earth
Poetry begins inside the heart and soul
Giving back to the heavens some console
Poetry heals, hopes and defines mysteries
Will take the poet down through histories
Poetry encourages, enlightens and enlivens
Capturing the love that flows and energizes
Poetry combines the words to bring insight
Magical poems who grace the world write
Poetry opens the doors to dreams within
Teaching the spirit just where it should begin
Poetry amazes, awes and gives inspiration
Awakens the mind to the gifts found in creation
Poetry is more than words and phrases
It draws images of its muse with sweet praises
Poetry is alive, a fire burning through the night
Showing it’s flaming delight with brilliant light
Poetry brings my feelings out into the sunshine
Where they are comforted and never pine
Poetry clarifies, imagines and cures anguish
Promising the heart that it will never languish
Poetry knows the weakness and strength
And the poet must go to most any length
To reveal the heart and soul, the inside
That yearns to give back all it can confide
The joy, hope, peace and faith, all smiles
Flowing with the whispers of Godly styles

Premium Member Just One Thing

So I get up in the morning and I think “if I do just one good thing”.
Because just one thing will set the tone of the day, and make me feel good.
So I feed the cat, fill the bird feeders, feed the dog, and start to sing.
Because now my heart feels wonderful, and my day has started as it should.

Just one thing, is my mantra, and it works well for me.
It clarifies my thoughts and it truly makes me see
That one thing leads to two, and hops over soon to three.
And what a great feeling now in my attitude and chi.

Just one thing, I say on Mondays when virtual school stares me in the face.
I do not have to do everything well today, just try to keep myself in place.
Accidents are going to happen. I will fall, and probably not with grace.
But “just one thing” is all I need to get me through this pandemic kind of pace.

Mosquitoes Lament

angst, body, cry, hurt, imagery, insect, war,

DODOITSU

(A MOSQUITO'S LAMENT)

THE SACRIFICIAL LAMB ©

This sacrificial lamb starts
An aggressive night ensues
Mosquito’s ‘ding’ clarifies
Dinner is almost served!

TAKE COVER! ©

I’m a prisoner trenched down
Under cover of ‘sheeted' white
Less the incoming wine made
Mosquitoes blood bath!

DON’T SCRATCH! ©

Never scratch mosquito bites
Her taste that got me to itch
Her siren call wined the night long
But her bite remains!

THE ‘VAMP’ COMES WOOING! ©

Her ‘vamp’s’ lick plagues me still
She has sucked me dry of blood
I was her menu this night
***** left me an itch!

I AM HER MARK! ©

The insanity of her wine
A war siren at best call
Warns me she is to strike again
She needs to feed to feed young
And I am her mark!

INVASION ‘BITES’ ©

Summers heat holds cries for ‘arms’
Mosquito’s invasion scores
Her sacrificial lambs are’ feed’
 Blood she craves for youngsters
Gives them tastes for more!

OH THAT ITCHES! ©

Her mark is dotted on the spot
Her small wounds itch to be scratched
This ‘calling-card’ of her bites
Her return for blood is made
Her young will need feed!

TAKE COVER! ©

Midnight swarms with bloody fare
Sirens are set to wine and worn
 Attacks are brutal and stun
No matter what order taken
Bug spray, slaps, or cover!

A SIREN’S WARNINGS!’ ©

Attacks overhead strikes a bite
Spent siren wines forewarning
That gains a mosquitoes’ win
Its advantage strike!

MOSQUITO ANGST ©

It takes the metal out of fight
When over taken by tiny mites
Commandeering from overhead
With intolerable sirens
Before the attack!

Fire

It can kill you.

The more you feed it, the more it craves
you. You try to control it, but the chemistry is
too heated up, so you are hypnotized
with it’s ability to energize you.

It makes itself clear- with it’s bright colours
and all that, but you forget to look
anywhere else, so it compresses your life into
a bizarre mess of illogical decisions.

You thinks it clarifies you, but it just
blurs everything else in a haze of ignorance,
so you lose track of size, and colour,
and time, and make yourself blind.

Sometimes you wish it was less
intense, and that you didn’t have to
always put on a show, and stand in the
centre watching them watch you.

You thought it would make you better, more
substance means more life, but it just takes
over you, so what was you, is now a tiny
fragment of it, which just keeps getting smaller.

You can’t mix with who you want now,
you have to compromise, you can’t be free,
you have to stick to it until it has completely
changed you into something different.

Sometimes you feel so small and submerged
that you can’t breathe any more. It spins you
in circles, but you’re tired, and hot, and you want
to think without it’s thoughts moulding you.

But it’s too late to break the bond you made
that time when you wanted to dance. It’s too late
to change your mind now, and pretend it never
had any effect on you. It’s too late to put it out.

So you’re stuck with it’s snakes of arms too greedy
to care anymore, and that heat long too hot,
so it scorches you alive, and that colour, which
you blindly agreed to share, when you were you.

But you ‘re used to it now.

You know that you can break free if you try
really hard, but it’s you who’s too scared to leave.
You think it will stop you, and burn you, and eat
you, but it’s you who does that to yourself.

You remember when it was the answer to
everything, and when your body was big enough
to make decisions, but your heart, too selfish.
You remember those times, and you cry.

And you think again, and you open your
eyes, and you clarify life, and you free
yourself. It may have burnt your senses,
and your thoughts, and your heart, but,

It can’t kill you.
Only you can kill yourself.

Half a Heart

We are still the youthful creatures
With hearts that are disturbed by the bleakness
Only acknowledging testimony and what is given
Without noticing the hearts that clarifies disruption

From a meaningless imagination to fictional philosophy
From the vibrant orange smiling throughout the daytime
To the circular block of cheese that illuminates the night sky
The hearts of the guiltless pawns have not yet been filled

Dreaming under a meteor or a meteor shower of destruction
The pitiful pawns showed invisible dread and zero fear
Existing in a playground of building blocks or a wild circus
Fulfilling every moment with worthless activities

Riding the river in the direction the wind glides
Leisurely watching the sand in the hourglass fall
Humming lullabies when the weary doze by pills
Their hearts lack veins and blood that are clueless

Some handled and tamed but always savage inside
With a bare purpose to frolic and to drown in mirth
Nor affection, nor death would they be shaken by
Hence a colourful mind and half a heart dwells

On last night's news I heard
of an engineer named K_____ who
invented the microchip and changed
our lives. How the chip now contains
a billion circuits which I still don't get
but what I do perceive is this engineer's
(a man modest in pride, fame and wealth)
achievement of Teilhard de Chardin's vision
of a world that is one organism and a single-
minded mankind.
                        Also mentioned
were Edison, the Wrights and Ford,
oddly not Einstein, Galileo, Copernicus, Newton,
Hamilton or Jefferson, Christ or Buddha,
or the unknown gatherers and traders
who invented agriculture, money.
8,000 generations and each individual
an experiment gone well or wrong, a chance
to respond with love or grief to the universe's effort
to extinguish us.

Family of weasels, young ones playful.
One reference says they're vicious murderers,
killing for sport. Absurd, I think, in the wild.
Another clarifies they eat ½ their body weight daily,
extremely active, high metabolism, hunt all their caloric needs
before eating. And, like the raccoon, ferocious defenders
of their young.

Who Is She

Her flapping wings ceased the troubled storm,
The ant of the dwarf looks like an Iroko.
Toweling my ego towards her fixed feelings
She penned her pride just perfectly to me;
The raw prettiness that bleeds her feminity.
Alas! The market of her soul harboured many men.

Can I still make my smile worthy when I
trade with the undiluted laughter of her face?
I took broken mirror to see the beauty of her face,
I saw more beauty as I watched through!
The pieces of her face are intact not broken,
More image trailing down my blood to heal.

Who is she to the whitish waving sky?
Who birthed her tempting long nose?
Her tribal marks painted our cultural heritage,
Her buttocks a symbol of national identity.
Who is she to the generous sun in the sky?
Maybe Amadioha can explain the beauty behind
Her voice.

Okaigbo the palmwine tapper made a mistake,
A mistake about his calculation of her teeth.
Her creamy colour blind so many to smile,
She made me rethink of the images I touched
Through the broken face of the living mirror.
Who is she that makes men loose their senses?

Who is she among the Maidens of Nkporo?
Her pictures against my shoulder clarifies!
I pours down joy within as she passes by,
Can someone tell me who that bird is here?
Aja, haven't you seen that peacock before?
Her eyes tear through my fibre of Grace to ruin.

Who is she to the shy stars that shines up?
Who is she to the painted winds that passesby?
Is she among the salt of Nkporo land?
Is she the light of the earth or a jewel of hope?
Is she your wife or a eye deceiver sent to kill?
Who is she to you oh earth that you hide excitedly?

My Growing Son

Every night, my son prefers to watch late night movies.
But early in the morning, he does n’t like to go to school,
He complains he has a headache and his body feels heavies,

When I suggested him to go to bed and don’t mix gravies,
I want to watch football don’t disturb me dad, he replies,
Every night, my son prefers to watch late night movies.

Early in the morning, when he is late finds trouser navies,
He blames against my daughter why she asks to get up early,
He complains he has headache and body feels heavies.

He always fights with girls and cries he deserves babies,
And he beats them and claims why do they disturb him?
Every night, my son prefers to watch late night movies.

He plays games and don’t want to share his hobbies,
Always watches his muscles and prefers to watch wrestling,
He complains he has headache and body feels heavies.

He also feels nervous when girls arranged lobbies,
Why did you complain against him he clarifies?
Every night, my son prefers to watch late night movies.
He complains he has headache and body feels heavies.

Rhymes Are Fun

Anytime I rhyme, I climb, ascending higher and higher
It clarifies life, it fuels my fire

Words constantly cycling through my head
Some I made up, most have already been said

Like: feather, wall, brick, or tambourine
Question! How much for that submarine?

Back to el point; writing, specifically in rhymes, purifies my mind
It centers my soul, bringing me closer to the divine

Pain Paints Poetry

Pain paints poetry
Love gives us the victory
The heart breaks through misery
While words are cemented in history

Shadows of comfort will sprinkle your face
Blades of power will hold your mouth
Words of silence can’t escape
The thunderous ploy of your heart
Pain paints poetry

Hearts that bleed are hearts that feed off the weight of love
The sudden shift of emotion illuminates the darkness
The singleness of a passion electrifies the soul
But the cold shift of isolation keeps the mission purpose driven!
Pain paints poetry

You will feed off every abnormality and
Reveal the centrality of all hidden thoughts!
Then after a while you will smile again
Knowing your heart bled because
It was a comfort worth exploring
It was an oddity worth refining and above all
It was a love worth mentioning
Pain paints poetry

Hearts that bleed are hearts that feed off the weight of love
The sudden shift of emotion clarifies the darkness
The oneness of a passion electrifies the soul
But the cold shift of isolation keeps the mission purpose driven!

Pain paints poetry
