Sounds of a Day in the Past
Cherry Creek was a thriving small town
Children played on swings up and down.
They screamed with delight and why not?
Today with no school, so homework forgot.
How they laughed and frolicked and ran,
All cares forgotten, catch me if you can!
The swings were well-oiled and so no creaks
Could be heard, but happy they enjoyed their leaps.
Not far away, parents and singles formed a march
Protesting against chemical factory built beyond the arch.
Sounds of a Day in the Present
Cherry Creek is now a ghost town
And all the rusted swings are down.
The chemist factory spoilt their fun.
Children in Cherry Town were none.
So many died from deadly fumes
All protests covered in all newsrooms.
But to no avail, for protests fell on dead ears.
Parents left to other places shedding tears.
The only sound you hear is the wind
No swing moved, empty all rust lined.
But I forgot the sound of money,
The factory simply insults me.
atop worn weathered concrete
pink petals gaily gather
entice lovers strolling
fingers touch mittens vanish.
blushing halo canopy
highlights cool rosy cheeks
tiny buds whisper passion
newly awakened long sleep.
sky gleams dreamy hues
turquoise shyly taunting
button noses cold rub
lips plump part wanting.
kiss two hearts waltz
more kisses sweetest tune
cherry blossoms dance
sprinkle magic love blooms.
Reflection of a cherry blossom tree,
mirrored upon a calm river by pale moonlight.
Its fragile buds falling with the light breeze,
float away with the flow of tributaries.
Just like memories that slowly slip away,
time ticks calmly counting down the days.
Innocently it stands with serene beauty
as lovers gather to admire its peaceful nature.
Many beloveds have shared a passionate kiss,
while intoxicated by its seductive aroma.
From Vietnam to Japan, to the shores across the pond,
many a love story has began under fragile pink blossoms.
Oh my beloved,
how I long to embrace you beneath its glory,
so our love story can be forever cherished.
Under pale moonlight that glistens for you
our lips will delicately touch for the first time.
Cherry blossom buds shower our heads,
as they shelter our love.,

She walks underneath the pink sunshade trees
dressed in flowing antique white bridal gown.
Un-dissuaded heart, to laugh, love, a peace
drawn to fragments of leaves rustling around.
The start of spring; radiant glow of pink.
A fountain of cherry blossom petals trace
down to the ground dressing the green. A wink
of amorous scene of warmth of her grace.
Enthralled by sensation of sweet scent tease,
gold sunshine rays' columns stand and solemn.
Poetic strokes of emotions to please,
a life draped in dreams hued in cherry blossoms.
A blank canvas rich in true color spun
in glaze memories not to be undone.
Out where the blooming path comes to an end,
Along with wildflowers and Queen Anne's Lace,
A white sandy beach is waiting in the sunshine,
With a house so inviting at the day's primetime.
Seagulls are swooping and diving so endlessly,
Like the turquoise waves that come crashing in,
Before rushing back out to wild fathomless sea!
At the end of the beginning of gold midmorning,
It is noontime in the silent house of the sun.
Red butterflies are flittering on a soft breeze,
And the bees have begun their quest for honey.
Blooms yellow orange and red sit upon the porch,
As if somehow lit up, by the sun's flaming torch!

first cherry blossom

March gets wrapped in a fleece of snow
on which Dawn cast a golden glow.
But Robin Red breasts says hello
promising Winter will soon go;
as Spring showers fetch a rainbow.
Plants apply a base coat of green;
as time inks color to the scene.
Trees take on an emerald sheen,
and skies shift to aquamarine.
Pussy willows begin to bud
as crocuses pop through the mud,
and meltwaters set creeks to flood.
Cherry blossom blooms open pink,
offering butterflies a drink.
My favorite season is Spring.
When fragrant scented breezes blow,
Spring sunsets are tinged tangerine.
And raindrops morph into lifeblood
as the soil becomes a heat sink;
fostering flowers May will bring.
There's a fresh scent in the air.
Like those of cherry blossoms in spring.
The air, carries the truth, that life will once again be fair.
Get ready to head the freedom bell ring!
All it takes is the unquenchable desire to be free!
To do whatever it takes,to pen about your truth.
To join in open post, ever so gallantly.
To stop being afraid, shaking in your boots.
It does not require fire nor burning down cities.
People are just waiting to hear you
They are fed up with victimhood and destructive, meaningless pity.
So mount your steed, the road, ever so ready for only things true.

Sidney sloth was so very very shy
He’d hide in the treetops way up high
Hanging upside down so no one could see
He’d painted his toes red like a ripe cherry
Sidney hid in the tree so silently
High in the branches where no one could see
But soon Sidney discovered a major snag
Ripe cherries were being picked and put in a bag
The cherry picker pulled at one of Sidney’s toes
Sidney was no longer in a state of sweet repose!
Wanting to maintain his privacy
Sidney climbed to the top of the tree
Soon autumn came and the leaves she did thieve
Forcing poor Sidney to hurriedly leave
Sidney sought sanctuary in a local zoo
Now he can’t be seen by me or you!

Down the avenue
Under arches of blossoms
Hand in hand with you
Let’s fly to the celestial fiesta of the cherry blossom,
In the North Eastern Region of Shillong, named, “The Scotland of the East,
The abode of the cloud,” in the lush mesa of the magnetic Meghalaya!
The wheezing Pine forest of the whispering waterfalls in the Khasi hills,
is bustling with the nature’s fairytale of pink, white and ivory!
As far as the eyes can see, the rolling tableland is ringing, ridden by the radiant petals of cherries!
Neither Japan, nor Paris, a mere remote region of Indian plateau,
Glowing in nature’s sublime glory of pellucid picturesque pinks!
Nicknamed, Prunus Cerasoides, the cherry blossoms,
a delightful boon of Himalayas,
are blooming profusely in the magical
verdant highland of the East Khasi hills!
The November is rippling with
moonlit music, plethora of flamboyant folk dances,
pageants, stalls to cater to the globetrotters’ penchant for the ethnicity
of the fur-flung region’s tribes’ cuisines, wine, arts and cryptic crafts!
Such bedazzling is the serenity of the panaromic platonic plateau,
As folks of the vicinity, are traversing despite the rampant pandemic,
to glimpse the shangri la of the richest biome of the floral magical lane!
The resonating frolic of the chirping and twittering from the cheerful cherry bushes
are teeming with the twirling bliss, intoning,
in winters whistling whiff!
A nature’s bounty, a pamphlet of picturesque hamlets’ terrains of aromatic sensuous purity!
Blessed are they, who have witnessed the once in a lifetime scene of crystal clean roaring rivulets, murmuring brooks, the ravishing orchids, quirky root bridges, aesthetic lakes and rills, scented wild flowers, encompassing the enigmatic cherry blooms of the mystic land of the majestic mountains!
An euphoria to have a ride amidst the clouds of the misty moorlands,
gliding languidly to take the signature of the mementos of the moments;
to kiss the plateau of wild orchids, flowering Cherries and sacred woodlands of those Khasi hills,
crackling with the sprouting, cherry blossom festival of the far East!
