Premium Member What Have You Done

Dear humans, do you read me, I live in space,
Merely a being, sent by God, I'm all over the place.
I circle the world, live among debris,
You leave behind, you ruined your planet,
Now you want to go to Mars, so that you can
Pollute that planet in a few thousand years,
I have shed enough tears,
A millennium has gone by, and yet my fears,
Are much the same, not only the land you destroy,
But what of your beautiful oceans, you have caused
Global destruction, ice is melting, oceans rising
Lands worldwide are drowning, farms are flooding,
Mudslides send houses into never-never land,
We must do something, you all say the same,
Well do it.
Have you absolutely lost your sanity,
Your complete mentality in irreversible totality,
First think of your ocean life, ban plastic bags,
Deforestation must stop, this must be immediate
All trees are life giving, sustaining an all encompassing
Balance, animals lose their forests and move into
Suburbs, confused, looking for food.
You overpopulate,
Why three or four children, be grateful have one
Others so sad, as they have none.
Unemployment on the rise,
The poor have no chance of winning first prize.
You have brought about division between
Colors, creeds and nations, stop it, we are all
Brothers and sisters, please help the poor
Who come to ask for food at your door
Disparity of wealth crazy, billionaires now more
Than before, whilst the poor live under bridges
Or scavenge in garbage, shame on us, shame on us,
Shame on our governments, access to water is
Humanitarian, all should have access.
I therefore beseech you to do the right thing, be kind,
Be mindful, allow love to seep into your heart,
Don't risk becoming an inevitable mortal fatality,
Nurture your planets ozone deficiency, begin,
with healing your unhinged mental capacity
The beginning starts with you,
But of course, that you knew.

The mountains call out to the sun
Wherever you look, you will see me
Blanketed in emerald, azure and amber
Clothing worthy of a king’s wardrobe

The sun caresses the mountains
With a sensitive warming ambiance
Whispers of sweet, soothing, captivating
Love songs that keep tune with the breeze

The wind whistles a cheerful welcome
To the trees that seem rigid and afraid
So uncertain of the season’s they live in
Will tomorrow bring them to a dying place?

Wild flowers hold their tiny heads high above
The green floor that grows into their feet
Shy and timid, they cause the heart of the butterfly
To flutter along the edges of their whimsical fingers

Birds of every color and type echo through the limbs
That are the living rooms of these gentle fowl
Who dress in brilliant reds, blues and yellows
Awaiting the moment when the tides turn them south

Wild animals caress the carpet with their fingernails
Arms and legs alive with a sense of joyful excitement
Sharing their stories with the knowledge that they must hide
From the howling, weeping, screaming forest thunder

Escaping from the crash of lightning glow on the trees
A vicious and furious strike from the Creator’s hand
The squirrel, raccoon and deer all gather around one
Single pine with its needle fingers entwined to cover them

From the mountains and valleys there comes assurance
That tomorrow will bring with it a wonderful endurance
Brought about by faith in the One who gave the life to
Each of these glorious reasons for adoring His nature

WHAT HAPPENED

Darkness is enveloping sinister
and frightening,
Elusive, alluring, captivating and
Inviting,
Every night it falls like a
clock that is punctual,
And we accept it as a part of
Our life that is factual,
Whilst the earth revolves
around a burning sun,
Giving us light,
Our moon revolves around
Planet earth,
That’s how it all began.
In the beginning was God –
The beginning of time,
Is when light and darkness
Starts to make sense in this rhyme.
And eventually the beginning of time,
Sought for man, and so we
Began our inevitable climb!
Thanks to Greek Mythology,
And the gods, Prometheus, it is said
Stole fire from the heavens, giving it
To humankind,
Which brought about the start
Of civilization, for now
Man could find,
And make warmth, hot food,
Primitive weapons, comfort and light,
Warding off dangerous predators
Of incredible might.
But Man also inherited evil
And so it was born,
From the serpent and Eve,
No longer was man as God
Made him, naïve.
The time of darkness and light,
And evil and good,
Is now understood,
Both were rife
In life!
The Crusaders who fought and killed
In the name of Christianity and God
Were a so called valiant lot,
But truly an evil killing squad!
After many eons we evolved and
And arrived at the last century, when
Two world wars were fought!
Millions of Jews were killed
In the 2nd World War’s plight,
Under Hitler, an evil leader who only
Saw his light,
In battle after battle and fight after fight!
Today we still fight the battle
Between darkness and light
It's name is narcotics, which allure
Youngsters into the darkness of life,
For which they will slice one
With a knife!
What are we heading for, for what
Is our strife?
Humankind should fervently
Pray for peace,
A life that is far from evil and dark,
Remember what happened for only
Noah, his family and few animals
And his Ark!
This could certainly happen again!
If atom bombs severe our planet in parts,
Human hearts,
Have already been chosen from
The North, South, East and West,
To start a new era from the mild, kind,
And faithful who have already
Been put to the test!

Premium Member What Has Happened To Gods Old Fashioned Women

What Happened To GOD’s Old Fashioned Women?

Women who were careful how they spoke and didn’t use
profanity to get their thoughts across. Who loved their
husbands and children and their GOD.

Stay at home mothers raising their children well and respected
their husbands and worked at having a loving home.

Old fashioned women who were careful how they dressed,
and did their best to keep their children safe but in
line with the rules of the home.

Sometimes, mothers and their children went to pick beans
and berries to help out with the family finances and
with school clothes.

Women who supported their children’s efforts at
school by attending their plays, games or recitals,
but, realizing all the while that then, the schools were safe
and moral.

It was a different time then, it was a more peaceful time
where neighbors were friendly and helped each other
by keeping an eye out for intruders and any other danger.

I can remember several young mothers who would go to
the park with their toddlers and watched them play
together.

Also, I can remember my mother passing along clothes
down from among the three of us girls, hemming
dresses, making them over, or making new ones.

Mothers who did canning and preparing the family’s
food for the coming year. Doing yard work and
landscaping and dressing up the yard to make it beautiful.

Of course the breakdown of the American home has
come about by divorce of so many couples and families. And then
there are couples having children without the benefit
of marriage which has brought about a total
breakdown of the American Sweet Culture.

I am remembering to, hearing the sound of church bells
ring Sunday morning telling all of us to get up and
get ready for church. There is an old saying, “The family
that prays together, stays together”!

Lastly, that is the country and feelings that I miss but,
times have changed and we REALLY need to look
up for our REDEMPTION DRAWTH NEAR!
JESUS IS COMING SOON, ARE YOU READY?

O' What Is War But The Mad Child Of Greed And Hate

By uppity arrogance the mouse challenges the lion
And his haughty crown is fused nickel and tin
But 'tis true dark-clad world has far too much cryin'
All brought about by hungry appetites of mad men.

Mankind does not admit arrogance of the womb.
Truth of utter despair of lying in a tomb.

O' what is war but the mad child of greed and hate
Armies march blindly into destruction and death
But crazy leaders love to foolishly tempt dark Fate
As they parade puffed up and plan with whispered breath.

Mankind does not admit arrogance of the womb.
Truth of utter despair of lying in a tomb.

History shows its results, tragic dark dying
And the abject misery needlessly born
With those at home fearful and hearing the lying
From government and politicians we should scorn!

Mankind does not admit arrogance of the womb.
Truth of utter despair of lying in a tomb.

Such bitter conflict indeed does some heroes show
And we here at home do acknowledge their brave deeds
We poets may even polish them til they glow
Sad, all that does is fertilize war's future seeds!

Mankind does not admit arrogance of the womb.
Truth of utter despair of lying in a tomb.

Is it true, war is fruits of arrogance and pride
That mankind has dark-set violence born within
Sure, such blatant truth we in vain so try to hide
Dare we not admit, that it is a tragic sin!

Mankind does not admit arrogance of the womb.
Truth of utter despair of lying in a tomb.

Vietnam War is the reason this poem is composed.
Our guys coming back either dead or else so gravely wounded.

Note: 6-03-1973
I turned 19 this year. I'd rather not be drafted to fight a war that
is not fought to win. Besides war is evil.

A Soldier- I Was

Lonely I was when I stood staring at the sky
Had a gun in my hand, was too afraid to cry
Fought bitter battles and never lived to tell
How at the altar of freedom, my body fell

My soul searches for reasons as to why I died
Did I save my people, had I tried?
Do they remember me, my deeds, my name
Are they proud of me or did I bring them shame

My battered body stood testimony to my fate
My heart had stopped in a battle brought about by hate
I had screamed in pain, and shivered with fright
But before I died, I did put up a fight

Remember me, my beloved country
It was I, my men, who brought you victory
I fought to the last bullet in my gun
I was a soldier, I was your son

Premium Member Plentitude of Pies

I stepped into a cow pie, back a year or so ago, and I did fuss and cry!
Or so I am told… Then I found a Dragon egg, and as you will surmise…
The plentitude and size of those pies, unfolded before my poor, sad eyes.
I pooper scooped alone, as they all ran from me and it, no matter what I tried.

There wasn’t enough fussing or money, that could bring them, into my crew.
It took a great big honking cart, behind a tractor to work the deed, it’s true
Dragon wouldn’t cooperate, to even remotely, pile it wherever I did need.
In fact, he buried my rose bed: as he covered it deep, in protest, at full speed.

I thought my teenagers had capped that rebel and protest thing, to an extreme.
OH, BOY! Have I become enlightened, to what a true protest can really mean!
Yep! And then he taught the neighbors Dogasaurus, to cover my dear, old Car!
Pitchfork handy, I chased them, as an incentive to unload in another place, so far!

That was inspired, I had gamely thought, until they dumped upon, poor little me.
I became known as the Dragon pie lady, and that was not a treat, I guarantee!
And yes, the paparazzi, put it on the front page as I got my 15 minutes of fame.
At this, Grandpa Troll came, to my much-needed aid, to help me stop this game.

He put us across the lake, from each other, in time out, until a deal was struck.
When Dragon’s fire finally gave out, he finally agreed to help clean up his muck.
Dragon agreed to ash all deeds, if I’d sell it as fertilizer to buy him more ice cream.
A bargain struck, peace reigned, and a fun incentive brought about our dreams.

The moral to my story is: Anyone can start a fight… But a fun incentive can be
Golden and bring the end to any plight.

The Shadow With Scizophrenia

I walked upon an empty step,
Where a shadowed body was kept.
The shadow was beat,
Turning as cold as winter sleet.

It had bright blue eyes,
That extended all through the skies.
The shadow was nine,
Living to be blind.

I walked to the figure,
As it would evilly linger.
People would laugh at it,
As it snarled and bit.

The shadow diagnosed with
schizophrenia,
Beating itself, the others, as if a
mania.
No one could reach out,
No one gave it water, as it was in a
drought.

I was determined to bring its colors,
Be the one to treat it like no other.
The shadow hated me,
Told me Hell is where I should be.

Not giving in,
Not creating one other sin.
I drew it pictures, wrote it letters,
Tried to blossom its feathers.

Then the day came,
When there had to be an end to the
game.
Not wanting to leave,
Not wanting the devil to its thieve.

As I was bout to walk through the
door,
The shadow came upon me, on the
open floor.
Held out his arms,
As I smiled and lowered his alarms.

The shadow had a name,
Brought about with little shame.
The shadow was a boy,
Played with by the devil as if a toy.

I played with fire,
Burning loosely like a run away tire.
But he finally knew I was there,
Someone who was willing to care.

Premium Member Wave of Fantasy

Engulfed within wave of fantasy
My heart basks in wondrous ecstasy
For sweet moments, serenely triumphant
Midst prayers for global peace, graciously vibrant.

Surfing along wave of fantasy’s zest
My faith hopes for miracles, indeed best
Beholding special children soaring in their flight
Surmounting disability toward great milestone height.

Plunging into wave of fantasy with bliss
My soul goes to the depths midst contentment-abyss
Enthralled with warm partnership marked by caring kindness
Brought about by divine fellowship around relationship's goodness.

Sailing with wave of fantasy’s pleasure
My spirit thanks the Lord for love-treasure
Always available for sharing with delightful mirth
Bringing sublime blessed* wealth from heaven to earth.

*Psalm 89:52 Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.

“No matter how low we fall, God holds our hand ~
All’s enabled, if this truth we understand”
                                             ~ quote by poet

Both Adam and Eve were tempted
To eat the forbidden fruit
Perhaps their fall could be preempted
If they weren't so resolute
To take the devil's route

Let us together attempt to reconstruct
This metaphorical tale
Why did Adam and Eve self-destruct
Drinking not from the holy grail
Thus their soul growth derail

Eating the apple brought about shame
Of their naked body
Aroused lower mind no doubt to blame
Making them a limited somebody
Entertaining thoughts shoddy

Made in God's image man was complete
Essence of divine light
From head to toe at all times bliss replete
Temptation became the blight
Denuding spherical sight

Male and female being our polarities within
Apple representing animal lust
Negating God's love and light the original sin
Succumbing to ego cravings unjust
Thus doomed to ensoul organic dust

The serpent is our ego; the devil in disguise
Cajoling man to act on his own
Indulging in desires, stifling soul's bliss rise
Head over heart, love dethrone
A dark destiny, we now bemoan

Fortunately, we can reverse the error made
Simply by giving love a nod
We then enter God's heavenly blissful glade
Tip toeing into heart unshod
By His boundless grace overawed

Premium Member What Evil Promise Did His Time Bring

Demon in disguise with captivating dark-brown eyes,
He is gentle and focused, for you are his prize.
Hypnotic smile across his lips, with thrust of hips and eloquence,
He has broken your defence with confidence.

His trophy, your heart, he has won!
Candlelit dinners, flowers, romance
Passionate sex, holidays in the sun
Rings on the fingers you are now one.

Traditional promise and a couple of kids
It's all that matters, they have first dibs
A home, a car, and a dog,
Your life has begun as one hard slog.

Welcome to your life's routine
You are no longer sixteen
Are you still his queen?
What evil will his time bring?

Compliments ushered out the door
What are you thinking mopping the floor
Wiping up vomit, stumbling over toys
Is this what life is with all its joys?

What evil promise did his time bring?

Sex is a job, no longer a pleasure,
Your kids are precious your life's treasure,
He is always late, arrogant and rude,
You thought it was your fault for being such a prude.

So you take a few drinks to feel better,
While is off on business like a trend setter.
He is always failing at what he does,
You have lost it, the incredible buzz.

Venomous insults, frequent and rapid they leak
Like a demon possessed allow him to speak
Scarlet embarrassment paints your cheeks,
He has become an uncontrollable freak.

When the kids get older you promise to leave,
In order to feel better, your lie you believe,
you think he will change? are you so naive?
It is only yourself you begin to deceive.

A few nightly slaps, and a couple of bruises,
When for no reason his temper he loses.
The demon in disguise has brought about a promise of hell.
Nowhere to run to, no one to tell.

Pinochle In the Rain

I love the rain,
On some deep unconscious plain.
It seems to seep in and soothe
The pain of an overtired brain.
That never rests,
Because of the stress,
Brought about by bad choices.
And sometimes the voices
That never seem to leave me alone,
Behind the eyes they plot
And manage to accomplish
What they desire to dethrone.
The King of Hearts is now a Jack,
Using Diamonds to fill the void left by his Queen.
Using a Spade shovel, she buries their past,
And some of her skeletons too.
I mean, she wants to start fresh, and squeaky clean.
I love the rain. It brings forth new life,
An attitude changed; serenity, acceptance, courage to maintain.
To learn, to grow, to believe.
The hope of a new relationship,
And a budding love with my seed.
I need him, he needs me and we need him on high.
I must not waste anymore, the time's getting slim.
I love the rain.
Because it opens my mind,
My thoughts are simple, and the truth I seek, I find.
When there's a storm,
There's calm before and after,
But the journey through
I s, to me, what really matters.
I love the rain.

Rise Above Before the Fall

Rise above before the fall

You look beneath each unturned stone
where four leaf clover shrouds the path
To wonder, thinking all alone,
what brought about this aftermath

As daisies clamor ‘bout the field
and dragonflies abandon hope
When orchards passing off their yield
will find it hard to even cope

Lest not a day of future themes
reflect this distance you now feel
For merely but a stack of dreams,
horizon’s light may soon reveal

So take this orchid from its stem,
a small reminder of the past
And question not who follows them
but cherish every foot step cast

Come hold your head up to the sky
as banners wave and bluebirds sing
Extend your hand to passers by,
much more than just a thoughtful thing

For life is but a fleeting friend
not here for very long at all
It’s up to you to just transcend
and rise above before the fall

Premium Member Mental Health

Many are faced with a surprising new feeling.
Depression and anxiety leave many reeling.
Our mental health is typically triggered by a life altering event.
It will make us confused and cause our reality to get bent.

This pandemic surely does qualify as such.
Lives have been altered as we all feel the touch.
You are not alone and you never will be.
There will be light at the end, please trust me.

My battle started ten years ago.
A massive heart attack dealt me a massive blow.
I trained my brain to dealt with each bout.
My Doctor and Prozac helped me find my route.

Don’t suffer and panic like I used to do.
Seek out help it will pull you through.
It doesn’t matter if you are eighty or eighteen.
Watch out for the demons brought about by this Covid 19.

Premium Member I Breathe Enjoyment

I breathe enjoyment from
the senses that God bestowed on me.
With the gift of sight I find joy
taking in scenes of sunset splendor;
catching sight of random rainbows,
the prettiest of which I’ve noted
arching over waves of Iowa grain;
gazing into the adoring eyes of my beloved;
and on happening to glance anything
bright or beautiful to behold.

With the gift of hearing,
I delight in the cries of glee
of my grandchildren
tearing open Christmas presents.
I discover incredible information
listening to videos and
learning from the students I teach,
whose own differing cultures and traditions
enlighten me more about the world.

I glean pleasure from sounds of nature:
the rumble of water gushing down mountain cliffs;
the rippling of rivers and ocean tides;
the call of pretty birds in spring;
the meow of a tiny kitten;
and my mind sways in rhythm
to the music on my radio.

With the gift of voice, I happily sing
the lyrics to my favorite tunes.
With my mouth I also relish my sweetheart’s kiss.
I take pleasure too in savoring spicy foods
that make my taste buds pop
or in tasting the cold deliciousness
of ice cream on my tongue.

With the gift of smell,
I capture whiffs of fragrant flowers
and aromatic perfumes.
I know the petrichor left by rain,
and I scent my mother’s bread and lasagna
baking on a Sunday afternoon.

With the gifts of touch and feeling,
I can fling myself into waves of sea
in joyful abandon,
feeling the sea fresh and crisp
and the sun so warm and inviting
on my skin.
I can feel soft sand beneath
my feet while walking hand in hand
with my sweetheart’s fingers stroking mine
and anticipate the wonderment
of his tender caresses in the night.

The greatest bestowal of God on us all
is the sense of feeling
that does not physically touch us.
This final gift, which I revel in,
lies in the many moments
brought about
when the heart is beautifully touched
by happenstance from any of the other senses.
These are the moments engraved forever in our
personal and collective memories.
In the end, we all have been so blessed
to have a body that brings joy to the spirit.
Thus, also I breathe gratitude.
