Broken but disbelieving, we wait
for any doctor to say it’s just blood
as the gray man greens, throws-
up in triage. A Goth teen holds Band-Aids
to her scalped thumb. Somebody loses
patience, explodes, Why are the sick

treated this way? Doors dilate & the sick
smell of antiseptics greets a waitress
wearing a steak knife. We are cribbed by loss;
gone, teeny heartbeats as I pass blood
clots. A junkie limps, unaided,
to the bathroom, another throw

away human, unlike a tot thrown
from a fire. Unforgettable, that sickening
sound, shrill scream after scream raids
the room of complaints. Hell won’t wait
for examination, I learn, as bloodshot
eyes meet mine. Hope is lost.

Patients stoically sit. Some lose
change to a vending machine. A cop throws
a look to his charge. Words drift, bloody
stool, x-rays, concussion. Sick talk to the sick.
My hand is gently squeezed. No one else waits-
out a miscarriage. I watch an aid

swab vintage tiles, restack HIV/AIDS
pamphlets as if they’re a deck of cards, like loss
is just some hand dealt. Somewhere, a mother waits
for her boy to sleep, will wash bottles, throw
out dirty diapers. Somewhere, a heartsick
father releases bloodcurdling

sobs because a body was found. Blood
is both bond & amputation. I took first aid
so I know why the sickest
get priority. Besides, we've already lost
each other, little one. Our separation has thrown
me off balance. Why couldn't you wait?

As if I need hearing aids, a nurse throws
my name out to the sick, the lost, ER roommates.

No. I'll never be ready. Let the bloody stirrups wait...

Japan, Land of Rising Son

Japan, land of rising SUN

Faced Natures devastation
Tsunami, earthquake obliterated cities
Lost all but not hope, maturity, sanity

Collective harmony, community first attitude
No honking, no mad overtaking; only understanding on jammed roads
No shoplifting when lights fused in malls

Mature media, compassionate humanity
No bloodcurdling visuals of chest beating or wild grief
No hypocrisy of help by Politicians

Well cultivated patience, doggedness to move on
Relief work, removal of debris, building roads at amazing speed
No mass scale panic on tanking of stocks, yen vulnerability

Cultured dignity, dignified grace
Disciplined queues for water, groceries, no chaotic scenes, squabbles
People buying to meet present need, so everybody could get something.

High moralistic Human values
Restaurants cut prices, no burglary at unguarded ATM
Plain speak on Nuclear threat levels

Japanese have done it before
Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings could only maim not rein
Tsunami and earthquake could only dissolve few cities not their resolve

Crisis handling, innate to Japanese
God gave volcanoes
They marshalled art of baking on it rather than getting charred

Japan, the land of rising SON

Pet-Sit Panics

***Crazy Menagerie***

I definitely bit off more than I could chew,
when I came a-running to my friend's rescue
He said it was no big deal, a real snooze actually
to just please, please look after his cutie menagerie

He said everything was pretty much self-explanatory
just feel at home, and relax...he sure was being sneaky!
I thought the word "menagerie" was just an exaggeration,
but goodness me, I almost fainted when I was greeted by a python!

He just lay there by the foyer, quite snug as a bug on the rug
So I carefully stepped over it, and planned to make tea for my mug
I headed to the kitchen, when I heard something go squeak! squeak!
What was that? I wondered, then I let out a bloodcurdling shriek!

It flew right over my head, yikes, another one got me all panicky
My eyes bugged out as I realized that he had a couple of paniki*!!
I went rushing out the kitchen and ran straight into an aquarium
No cool fishies here, just mousies out of equilibrium

They were jumping up and down now, trying to escape
when I heard a suspicious grunt, it sounded like an ape!!
I was so scared to search for it, but curiosity won out
So I opened doors and cabinets, when I ran smack into a snout!

Ewwwww, I just realized that I just kissed an ugly pig!
I then remembered he kept one to go on truffle digs!
He said he had a cat though? Where were the common pets?
Ah, there it is; here, kitty, kitty, when I saw it was a ferret!

It was doing this weird dance, it hopped then bumped into me
I wigged out, then stepped right on the tail of that poor kitty!!
It lunged at me and I fell back onto aquarium glass
of course it had to teeter totter and I was too late, alas!!

It just hit the marble floor, then I heard that sickening crash
Mousies all over me!!! Shook my head till I got whiplash
The cat was now scratching me, I was screaming 'till my throat was sore,
This was a total nightmare, that snake was blocking that damn door!!

My eyes were like leaking faucets, I had thick tears, I didn't know?
When I wiped off my cheeks, I found out it was icky guano!!
Boohoo, sniffle, snuffle--am I never getting out of here?!?
Dang Chris says he'll be back in a week, will just drown myself in beer.

Bipolar

I am woman, hear me cry
With bloodcurdling screams as I slowly die
Pulled down into sadness, I travel due south
With no hopeful words to spew from my mouth
Buried deep within my shell
I torture myself within my own hell
Of self-loathing deeds, I wilt before I bloom
Fading away in my own world of gloom
I take a little pill and travel due north
To wash away the tears and push myself forth
I am Bipolar, see my moods shift
From melancholy to euphoric, I am whip-lashed in the rift

The Alchemist

The Alchemist
Howling moon shining bright in the clearing
Torch marked quarters cast a circle searing
Sinning sirens ringing the barrier
Seven brides of phantoms shall carry her

Choking incense, black clouds shroud the altar
Thunderous words shake! the pillars falter
Grinding dry herbs for these enchanting spells
Blessing all saints, while damning them to hells

Gloves marred with white chalk and cigarette burns
With a wave of the staff, the cauldron churns
Ashes to ashes to diamond crust
Body revives from the smoldering dust

Bloodcurdling shriek, succumbed like the others
Again failed resurrecting their mothers

They woke me
I listen, voices loud, louder
arguing with each other
my ears ring
then all the demons stop
speak to me, all of them
worthless, addicted, vain
destined for happy? snickers
no woes just abstain? laughter
go kill yourself!
my thoughts hide away
bullied and drained
I put my ear phones in
chill on Bob Marley
“One Love, One Love, lets....”
bloodcurdling screams
sound of demons slain
I’m smiling, hum along, “feel alright”

A Bloodcurdling Moment

One dark eerie Halloween night,
Count Dracula gave me a fright.
His pointed teeth gleamed,
I bolted and screamed,
When he asked me out for a bite!

Haunted places, haunted lives --
Who knows the terrors trapped inside?
Out of gas and losing vigor,
His footprints are defined in flashes of light.

Spatters of mud ascend his jeans,
Muck from wetlands in the vast bayou.
He’s trekked a mile from his broken van
As summer’s first storm closes in.

When lightning illuminates the cloudy sky,
Eaves of a coastal mansion are defined.
Such refuge he now welcomes,
While whipping tropical wind gusts gain force.

How fortunate to discover a refuge
     That’s survived decades of neglect.
But as he moves closer with hope and curiosity,
Spanish moss creates goose bumps, tickling his neck.

Approaching through the overgrown landscape
Of an ornate mansion that beckons him in gloomy guise,
He finds an open door and calls inside,
Certain he’s heard ghostly voices within.

With trepidation, he steps into the foyer,
     Where bloodcurdling wails grow louder.
What price this haven, he ponders,
When the door slams shut, locking him inside.

Familiar faces gaze from outside windows with iron bars,
Immobilizing him as his fear peaks.
His last hopes of salvation are dashed when he realizes
     Whom these spirits’ faces represent.

Four women lay dead inside his abandoned van
And now they’ve captured him to seek revenge.
A serial killer trapped by spirits of his victims
Is justly doomed to the life of torment he created.

Dark Creepy Night

Laying down, out in the open,
Here, in the stillness of the night,
Looking up to the stars shining bright,
The gentle breeze blowing at the fabric,
That covers the palest parts of my skin,
Taking in the sights of the moon,
And the radiance that surrounds it,
The transparent clouds float on by,
A shadow
Something moved beside me,
Alarming me to this unnerving sensation,
My body prickled like a spider creeping Crawling up my skin,
The beast breathed sending my worst fears,
Afraid it was going to eat me,
My eyes moved to the side to look,
Now I wished I didn’t
I was frozen by the sight of its eyes,
Its eyes glistened with its evil thoughts,
He appeared out of nowhere beside me,
Baring all his teeth,
I saw the beasts pink gums its purely white sharp teeth,
Like fangs on a wolf the drool hang from the side of its mouth,
The drool it bobbled with the movement of its tongue,
Growling and grunting,
That repulsive smell of its was bloodcurdling like a Decomposed corpse in a casket .
In one quick movement, it howl
With my last share,
I Cringed has it started Feasting on my skin.

Costuming Halloween

Masque my visage fast!
…So my eyes bulge out, drunken red, and give me
purpled, hairy lips and cheeks to complete
My bloodcurdling look — Yikes!
So scary…Not sweet!
So chilling that Halloween’s
Gross memories of seeing me will not be beat!

Then, when I float from door to door,
Levitating on a smoky breeze,
To greet the folks’ aghast gazes, I’ll growl
with a phantasmal voice to haunting, I’ll declare,
“Boo! Trick or treat!” and
They’ll step back away as if shock could kill, but
Thrilled, gasp, “Hey! Your costume’s a blast!”

Whereupon, I’ll begin my Halloween act
By morosely sharing, “T’is not a costume at all,
But my natural state…’T’is my own gross, gremlin grin;
My own foot-long ears; my own outlandish, fear-frizzed hair,
That altogether has me wailing, especially on
       H a l l o w eve n night
      “BOO-hoo! Boo! Boo-hoo!”

Scream

There it is, way deep down,
In my loins,
Teeming passion
Boiling upward, to my belly,
Reaching the pit of my stomach, tightly tied in knots.
From there,
Surging up my esophagus/windpipe,
Making me feel sick, gasping for breath
Running, dashing headlong
There at the back of my throat,
The scream surge intersects the brains message.
The two intertwine and merge to become
Forceful, powerful, ferocious, etc.,
And together force its way
Outward, explosively.
A scream, bloodcurdling.
A scream, deafening.
A scream, attention getting.
A scream, head turning.
A scream, imploding instead.
Tumbling down from the heights,
Falling back as ordered.
A scream, silent,
Deafening silence
Hear it? See it?

Fools and Ghouls Hotel

"In this place you will not find God and Jesus will not save,
It's the hotel for the fools and ghouls who went too far in their day.

Mack sits in the flames his feelings have all gone and Tony rests on a bed of nails he was never given long,
Stanley well he has no eyes they were ripped out when he fell in love.
Zeke he just props up the bar drinking bile from a leaking mug,
the bartender his name is Smith he'll shoot at you just for fun, don't ask him how he got here in the first place he doesn't like to talk about his mum.

There is a room saying 'Do Not Enter', outside you can hear bloodcurdling screams,
you can cry, beg and wish all you like but you won't wake it's not a dream.

And me? my name is Lucy Furr, I'm the boss at this hotel, my welcome gift to you is eternal life and a permanent stay as you can tell.

No there are no exits, forever indoors you must now dwell,
there was only one way to avoid this place but you thought that you'd rebel.

Now lastly let me introduce you to your roommate, Rancid Keith,
do your best to ignore his weeping sores and his illuminous gangrene teeth.

Of course, you will have to share a bed, there aren't enough to go around,
but Keith likes to kiss and cuddle and will treat you as a teddy bear for now.

With that I wish you a good night, please do sleep safe and sound,

Tomorrow is another day, just remember there is no way out!."
