BLACK and BLUE

Today I wonder,
Wonder why?
You hit me in the eye,
you made me cry.

My eyes are brown,
Now they're black and blue.
Is that what I get for loving you?

My lips are pink, now they're bloody red.
Is that what I get!!!
Do you wish I were dead?

My teeth are white,
I just lost three,
Is that what I get over a little fight?

I see a smile underneath,
I see you leaving with the police.
I finally got rid of you.
I can't believe I waited,
UNTIL I WAS BLACK AND BLUE.

NOTE: True story, I finally did the right thing and called the cops

The Black and Blue Blues

THE BLACK AND BLUE BLUES

There was blood on the street
On his shirt
And on his shoes
Yet it never made the news

Just another person
Just another tale
Just another sister with a sorry story for sale
A beauty bound to lose
Yet it never made the news

There had been thousands of tears
Throughout the years
And nights of varied and sundry fears
Her face was painted with blacks and blues
Yet it never made the news

She’d been to the cops to tell her story
“listen lady, no guts no glory”
To them it was too ordinary so they’d refuse
I’d pick up a newspaper to peruse
And still her story never made the fu**ing news

When the law finally caught the case
They understood the condition of her face
Needed not was D.N.A.for the culprit was known
After he beat, bludgeoned and broke every bone

This was a couple who should had never become a pair
She with morals and he with his nose in the air
Because she was his dynamite and he was the fuse
And she died yet it never made the fu**ing news

Black and Blue

Ma, Jimmy knocked me in the head;
don’t tell his mama – I’ll be dead.

My eye is black; my elbow bruised.
Please kiss them both (tween me and you.)

I cannot go to school again;
he said he’d kill me, what then?

Oh mama, mama I don’t want to die
and be with Grandpa in the sky.

I loved my Grandpa; he was the most;
but really mama, I’m not lookin’ to be toast.

Look, it’s Jimmy’s ma and Jimmy
walking awfully slow.

He kicked the dirt and rubbed his eyes;
he didn’t look so bold.

He didn’t look so tough now with tears and trembling lips
with reddened eyes and runny nose; he couldn’t get a grip.

He said I’m sorry; would you be my friend?
I’ll never hit you, never again.

P.S. This was written before all the school shootings when life was simple and we just beat each other up.

Black and Blue

You say you love me, but this is not true. You say you love me, but you beat me until I am black and blue. I know our marriage is over, what about you. You say you love me, but you beat me until I am black and blue. This is not love, it maybe too you, I don't like been beaten until I am black and blue. I am walking out of the door with memories of the many times you knocked me too the floor. I am through with you. You say you love me, but you beat me until I am black and blue. I pray Christ will give me the strength to heal. I pray Christ will give me the strength to forgive.

My heart is black and blue now, done so by your claws,
our love no longer valued, ended now I’m told.
The gift of love forsaken, turned to ash so cold,
your path of pain given, with not a single pause.

Once two hearts were so yearning, filled in common cause,
no thoughts of parting, turning from each others hold.
Tomorrow’s promised passion, ever not unfold,
time shared in ways of lovers, living in loves laws.

Now the bond broken and the sky has turned dark gray,
ghosts of days past haunt my mind, in a bitter haze.
The words have all been spoken, nothing left to say,
my future now is shattered, left me in a maze.

Ways of love, mystery, no guarantee to stay,
my heart, black and blue now, mind many shades of gray.

Red, White, Black and Blue

It was supposed to mean equality.
It is meant to be the Red White and Blue's main policy,
So why is it I feel like a minority.

Give me Liberty or Give Me Death, they screamed
To their very last breath.

Wars were waged and,
People were enraged.
All for what?
For my people to be enslaved?

All men were created equal, yet we were possessions.
We were looked down upon and forced into oppression.
We couldn't understand the reason for our suppression.
But we rise out of every transgression.
If only you could see their facial expressions
For all those wars and battles, movements and walks, slowly the success of our people became a new obsession.
And since the only way from here was up, we continued on our progression.

We made it our patriotic duty,
To make the fathers of our country proud of our community.

For America is our land.
A place for us to mark our brand.

Black and Blue

It was all black and blue;
Who else, like the fated girl
Could stand the watch?
She had to do it without a fuss
Though it had been part of her day.

Now on the way,
Weary and worn,
She has left and gone
And nothing remains.

I swore since then
If you behold one like her
Or just catch a glimpse of a similar face
Let me know.

For this message I am to deliver;
I was told not to say
This is going on without its end to know.

I should tell of what sweet destiny awaits
In the land of the redeemed
A place for the ransomed
And the nation of the brave.

Worries have nothing to do
With they that hold the promise.
Why be scared as if there was no God
In the whole world to save?

Can I now bear that sight
And try to forget all I had to face?
I wish there could be enough of voices
To whisper this to me
“Be still my heart, the Lord is on thy side”.

What strength to know
What joy to hear!

Black and Blue and Green

There was an Irish guy who loved to dance,
when his kilt swung high the ladies would glance,
but snow on St. Patty's Day
made him fall in such a way...
his bruised leprechaun gets no more romance!

Red Black and Blue

Red Black and Blue

Don’t put your arms around me

Displaying phony comfort

Trying to convince me that everything’s going to be alright

Houdini, I’ve seen this trick before

And I know the way this story ends

Busted bloody lips, swollen black eyes & a variety of blue bruises

That stands out menacingly

For everyone to see

Not the gentleness of I love you

It ends in red, black and blue

Right now it's peaceful, beautiful
These moments here with you
These times we share, the two of us
Between the purple, black, and blue

Regrets and fears in limbo lay
So quietly, await another day
And you with me together lie
Between the purple, black, and blue

And as the twilight turns to gray
When you and I have gone away
All we shared will always stay
Between the purple, black, blue

BLACK AND BLUE FRIDAY

First – the carbo-loading
monster meal to sustain
the beast that drives
the cornerstone of greed
in mindless hunt for “bargains”.

Next – jockeying for position
awaiting the starter’s pistol
explosion of coupon bearers
storming the gates of ….greed
pursuing an empty, endless, need.

Feint right, fake left, bob and weave
position, position, timing
shuffle-step, reverse pivot
head fake and twist, break right
aisle 6, electronics, end zone – score!!!

Crazy dance, fire works,
no flags thrown, no penalties.
Game over. Ice and ibuprofen,
rest and recuperation.
AH, the joy of
BLACK (AND BLUE) FRIDAY.

Ummmm, black and blue;
Delicious!
Blueberry cheesecake on a platter
Of chocolate syrup.
Nip of pillowed cream cheese
and tart blueberry
a semi-sweet wave of
chocolate river flowing through your palate;
how they glide across tongue and over
teeth-stones…
Miraculous ecstasy!
To succumb to such a powerful beast
Is like the victim sailor to the siren’s song.
Some sins are worth it all.

The Moon is full and bright.
It's white.
But I know...
it's black;
or, anyway, grey.
And swaddled in the airless
Really Black.
(like me.)

The sun is yellow,
the Sky blue.
But the sun's always
seemed white to me.
The anodyne Sky - so less
blue
than one who is blue
down deep, so blue.

And when the Sky
seems fruited with
color, I know it's stolen
hues. Or, leastways,
borrowed dyes when
daylight daily dies.

Black and Blue- For Contest

Black and blue
what did she do
to deserve that black and blue eye
she was just to happy
she was just to proud to smile
and she just laughed too much
when a backhand meet with a kiss to her face
and with the snap of a bone
cigarette burn and bruised lips.
