Black and Blue
It was all black and blue;
Who else, like the fated girl
Could stand the watch?
She had to do it without a fuss
Though it had been part of her day.
Now on the way,
Weary and worn,
She has left and gone
And nothing remains.
I swore since then
If you behold one like her
Or just catch a glimpse of a similar face
Let me know.
For this message I am to deliver;
I was told not to say
This is going on without its end to know.
I should tell of what sweet destiny awaits
In the land of the redeemed
A place for the ransomed
And the nation of the brave.
Worries have nothing to do
With they that hold the promise.
Why be scared as if there was no God
In the whole world to save?
Can I now bear that sight
And try to forget all I had to face?
I wish there could be enough of voices
To whisper this to me
“Be still my heart, the Lord is on thy side”.
What strength to know
What joy to hear!
