beyond blue mountains
deep gold horizon sunrise
a peach rose unfurls

suddenly so green
and baby jays are singing
blindsided by spring

rise up at pink dawn
the early bird is crowing
miles before moonlight

sweet kindergarten
where minds begin to wander
here there everywhere

Awakenings

In a beautiful green valley
Where wild flowers grow
Comes the first blanketing of winter's snow
The clouds up above float luxuriously by
As I lay and stare at the wonderous sky
I can hear the wind whisper thru the trees
And smell the crisp air in the gentle breeze
I can not touch or feel
The feeling is slightly surreal
I cast my eyes down
To see what lays ahead
It is then that I realize that I am dead

My body is draped in a long black dress
My skin is absolutely colourless
It's a frightening feeling I must confess
I can hear the priest saying a few kind words
And in the background the beautiful harmony of birds
Sniffles and sobs reach my ears
I guess I didn't make it to my golden years
My eyes survey the group gathered round
A tear in the eye of each could be found
It is then that I see my only boy
And my love for him shines with so much joy
Suddenly a sadness fills me where once I was glad
As I realize I will never again kiss that sweet lad

He's saying goodbye
And I must too
I just don't know if I have the strength to do
A soft voice calls to me from above
"Come home my child", it says with love
"Come home and be free, Come and live with me"
I yearn to drift into that heavenly grace
But I can't bear the look on my child's lonely face
I drift just a little above
And turn to look back with sadness and love

Be good my son, be happy and carefree
Don't cry or remain sad, think of me and be glad
I will be waiting for you at heaven's gate
There I will sit and patiently wait
And when your work here is done
I will welcome you home
Then you and I will never be alone
I know that he can't hear the words in my head
For I know I am really and truly dead
A gentle hand touches my arm
I know that it is time to go
And so I walk toward the heavenly glow
Leaving no footprints in the brand new snow

Red rooster is crowing, perched on a split rail fence,
In the bloom of a rosy dawn, when all nature is tense.
In the chocolate colored trees, of the emerald leaves,
Baby bluebirds are cheeping, to the spicy warm breeze.
The flowers bob and curtsey, with many colorful cheers,
In a love affair that's endured, ages of sunlit years!
Purple shadows are drifting, the world partially awake,
And it's still a shadowy mystery, what destiny will make.
Perky squirrels are scampering, the sun is on his way,
Sweet life is beginning again, for it's a brand new day!

Awakenings

His love is all around me,
Even though I cannot see
Something that is so very real,
All these things that I feel
Sleeping for so many years,
Suppressed by all my darkest fears
Finally I have been woken,
To all the glorious words that He has spoken
I have been touched by His holy hand,
And now I can understand

So strong in everything that I believe,
I am always ready to receive
He guides me from the heavens up above,
And He has filled me with His love
He has given to me a precious gift,
As I use these words to uplift
Hopefully they will touch your very core,
Realizing He can give you so much more

He offers to you an eternal life,
With no pain, no sorrow, no strife
But you must become a righteous man,
To be seated by His hand
You must rid yourself of hate,
In order to receive this glorious fate
If you let Him into your soul,
Then you can achieve this mighty goal

Awakenings

woke up to the morning chirping
which became chirpings
that opened my eyelids erasing my dream.

they had been perching on a limb
just before the sun had raised its shade
settling in before their choir rehearsal.

Bringing to may attention it was a new day
that needs a welcoming and gratification
to share each new awakening for both.

pleasantly enough to say one must enjoy
the greetings that inspire one to leave
their yawns and join daybreaks calling.

trees become holders of nature sharing its limbs
allowing birds to gather and become the pipers
of dawn’s early rising that shines awareness.

Spring Awakenings

As the earth dances in a stately minuet about its celestial lover
Bringing forth in its progression a season of rebirth and colour

Conferring on the land and air an anticipation of sweet romance
Dawn lights the clear blue sky as the earth pirouettes in its dance

Everywhere the dance of the sun overthrows the mantle of white
Fingers of ice loose their hoary grip freeing imprisoned fairy and sprite

Gone is the stillness of river and stream, bonds broken are now so fleet
Having been released to join the world in its magical dance so sweet

In valleys a carpet of snowdrops dance under newly dressed trees
Joyfully rainbows of wild flowers lift their heads in slow graceful degrees

Kissed gently with the love of the sun those that slumbered through
Long days of ice and snow now arise to join the dance and life renew

Meandering brooks reflect the colours of gossamer wings dancing above
Nascent larvae spin and twirl through shimmering crystal to a song of love

Over mountains high the soaring eagle watches life’s dancer’s move to the dream

Purple, red and pink a rainbow of perfumed colour is everywhere to be seen
Quietly bees move in perfect harmony with the dance as it has always been

Rivers once barren now teaming with life striving against the flow
So return to their beginnings, the dance draws them on with its glow

The dance brings all together and the joy of new life is the songs refrain

Upon the highest peak the cloak of white continues its frigid reign
Victory for the Suns fiery dance unattained still one icy realm does remain

Winter’s promise is here written that its dance shall usurp the land again
Xerxes in all his splendour does not compare to this timeless battle so arcane

Yet still the dance goes on for its brief time as the riot of life covers our earth
Zealous are the gods of our world’s beauty when they sing the song of rebirth.

Awakenings

Written in tribute to William Wordsworths 'Daffodils'

Earth’s mantle slowly turns from white to green
As born of winter’s womb new life begins
Shoots grow, restoring colours to the scene
To herald Mother Earth’s awakening,
Who on arising casts off winter’s throw
Enlivened by the warmth of the sun’s first glow

Her wakening is welcomed by the trees
Who’ve stood for so long bleak against the sky
They feel her sweet caress within the breeze
That spirals ‘tween each branch as she goes by,
Boughs which once were barren, cold, and grey
Now blossom, as within her arms they lay.

The plenitude of Mother Earth abounds
As nature’s kisses fall in April showers
Rejuvenating seeds, laying dormant underground
Bringing forth a myriad of blossoming flowers,
Land once covered by a veil of white
Is now a mass of colour, fresh and bright

Fields and woodland brim with new creation
Who give thanks to Mother Earth for all her gifts,
Birds upon the wing sing exultations
As winter’s deep depression finally lifts
The last remaining shadows, eclipsed now by the sun
A sonorous proclamation that spring, at last, has come.

a life not yet focused
only the hunger for sweets
and new experience are clear
yet every waking morning
this little nose sniffs out
all that is good in the world
a world that wants nothing more
than the sweet for this child
who rests their heart
at the steps of a neighbor
with the family pet
the ride to school, the father

a thirst for imagination
answers, and books
lie dormant inside waiting
for that spark of awakening
to be thrust upon them
by hands that have sifted
through the same mire

New Awakenings

“NEW AWAKENINGS!”

Hummingbird soar with your tiny might
Great red fuchsias are at bloom again
Red purity so beguiling a call so bright
Brings you forth to carry your aim
To help propagate new life next spring
Nature's awakening call will always 'ring'

How long was I asleep like a proud bug
deep in her nest? All of my life was ease
and wealth until I became a bit smug—
and all about was hunger, dearth, and disease!
So cozy was life that I was content,
snug, self-assured, sure, and self-satisfied
without awareness of my confident
pride and the fact that I was gratified.
Crash! Why is my world so swiftly shattered?
My hopes and dreams quake, rattle, and quiver!
Clattering are my hands; my luggage tattered!
Collision strikes as I now shake and shiver.
From above—life goals now reveal with brute force:
I'll forge ahead anon without remorse!

What a Extraordinary Gift

I
Sleep and Infinity, Sleep & Resurrection
Thank You Father, Son Jesus, Spirit:
You did not owe me this day ...

II
When I awake. I remember gratitude
As slowly I gather the Past -
Thoughts, recycled emotions, that's ME
I HAVE CHOICES ... Redo addictions
Coffee (or worse, for the needy); Prayer
Is my way to say, I AM A RESURRECTION
Could I seek to follow The Way, Truth, Life

III
Every waking from naps & sleeps is a gift
Like the resurrection
We are born again in those moments
Will u remember & tell Life: I'm grateful

IV
This morning I will thank my LORD, Shalom
I am awake. I am An Awakening

A time for awakenings
And stirrings
Spring cleaning
Of the internal kind

New resolutions for days
When the sun shines upon us
Getting rid of the cobwebs

Away with hibernating tendencies
Go play outdoors
Take in some sun
Breathe in outdoor air

Dust the bikes
Go for strolls
Plan mini excursions
Line up some adventures

Get ready get set go
Remember the meaning of the word play
Chase butterflies
Watch birds build nests

Explore
Watch the buds come out
Then suddenly explode
Watch the colour green
Take over the world

Stress giving way to smiles
As people remember why
They hold on to boring jobs

Sun’s up early and sets later
Longer days more time for fun
Longer weekends by default
Me time is no longer in the dark
Life is worth living
To the fullest
Spring is a revival
Rejuvenation
Joy at our fingertips

Promises of the spring's sweet pleasures
arrive with the first soft breezes.

Joyous New Awakenings

I watched them from their slumber wake
Golden trumpets greet the sun,
Daffodils in resplendent glory
Announcing spring had now begun.

Once more colour paints the landscape
Spring arrives in many hues,
Bluebells carpet wood and field
Splendid in their multitudes.

Once again life is stirring
In joyous new awakenings,
Delivered now from winters grip
Into the arms, of welcome spring.
