Best Awaken Poems
The east began blushing behind the trees
While the moon hung over the lea
And the velvet of night turned to sapphire hue
Like the blue of a newborn sea.
No breeze cared to move the whispering leaves
But they whispered themselves alone
And the first rays of sun kissed the cool of the morn
Before mounting the aerial throne.
The dew-spangled grass glittered pure and unspoilt
As if hundreds of diamonds were strewn,
Or like dozens of tears had been carefully dropped
From the pearlescent eyes of the moon.
Blue shadows hung shyly beneath the boughs
Of the emerald, sylvan-king;
The ancient pine swayed and held his court
With the swallows on the wing.
With a glorious, final shout of gold
The sun was now enthroned
While the world rejoiced like a sinner saved
That the night's dark was atoned.
I love to watch a farm awaken in the early spring,
Especially as the birds in the forest happily sing,
The farm knows how to be itself, profound and true,
Like the faded red barn, quietly beholding the view.
In this moment, the farm finds its serenity,
Between sips of morning coffee, so heavenly,
Tempting songs of cardinals, a melodious cheer,
Chips and whistles carried by the breezy air.
Who wouldn't be captivated by this wondrous sight,
As darkness surrenders to the emerging light,
The old barn stands, with no complaints or pleas,
No need for a fresh coat of red, at ease it sees.
The morning fog, a gentle, subtle trace,
In the fields unplowed, it finds its place,
Soon, corn will grow in rows so neat,
And crows will gather for a sumptuous treat.
Gently I inhale the farm's awakening charm,
Especially in the early spring's tranquil arm,
Where the soul knows no bounds, it's free,
Across an undefined horizon, a painting, you see.
Quiet repose, a vastness, the soul's delight,
A pretty picture as the new day takes flight,
The farm awakens with beauty untold,
In the early spring, where dreams unfold.
I believe that long ago, the universe’s most artistic landscaper
mixed woodlands with tropics, rock formations with mountains,
volcanic craters with lush valleys, and cascading waterfalls with
pristine still waters before blending all with an ocean and
topping it off with sunshine. Man named this place, Hawaii.
The absolute awe that defines Hawaii, is bound to awaken
any slumbering faith and rejuvenate any emotion grown numb
to the brilliance of life. While visiting the Islands of Hawaii, I
absorbed a joy and wonder from the plants that delightfully
startled my own routine senses. I have been blessed in my life
to personally view beautiful and eye-catching plant life in many
regions of the world. In Hawaii, the plants adorning and tending
the islands are the most dramatic, glorious and enchanting that
my vision has ever drunk. There is an otherness to Hawaiian flora
that suggests plants are empowered with the ability to uplift,
stimulate and captivate even the most withdrawn human vision.

Fever dreams and rusted scissors. There’s only two ways to look at this night. I awake only to have a gritty taste of bone dust in my throat. A reminder of events past. Sweating plagues, rebuilding strength for the hunt that’s to come. I can barely open my eyes. Thoughts of old cloud my judgment. I shouldn’t think these things, but the thoughts commence infernally. My glands are swollen. I know there’s an infection within, Viral?? Mental? I’ve seen these nightmares up close and have fed deep into their madness. It’s autumn now and yet I long to sit in the garden. Bleed upon the stone, Lost in lucid trance. No more memories, no more hauntings. I must purge these inside weaknesses to start anew. Arise structured forms, sway and move at my command for I am creator. This sickness shall fall and wither as the leaves of change. Skin, fall, wither so the insects will consume. Light dwelling within must surface and speak. I no longer fear change, I embrace it.
Spread my ashes in the bloom of nature’s glow, for Memories on wings of a hymn shall be rebirth. Give power to symbols and names. The children swarm down the swamp’s end, Awaiting the movement. Unsung, Blood fills our lungs as we go. The whispers from the dead keep me up at night. There’s fear outside your door. That the devil may bite. Reside in my garden and drink deep the waters of my insanity.
Buried within one’s self is the creator of existence. A god inside an animal. Acknowledgments bring growth. Watch it flourish.
Unto the dawning light opening curtains
one thousand dreams answered
within your beam angel rays touch deeply
Under the folds of love apple of the eyes
as our lips join golden delicious bites
a silent whisper sighs softly an air
Escaping gently in song breathtaking beauty
saying I love you until the breath dies
my mornings bliss your sunlight will forever shine

LOVE'S LOST IN THE LAND OF NOT
John (Winged Warrior)- we've not forgot
Your heartfelt comments and lovely,
Soul...
A beacon of light- the way you'd Roll
He'd spread his wings open wide
IN THE GALLOWS WHERE WE RESIDE
Across the oceans and over the,
Seas..
His writings ride amongst the breezes
He came to me in my dream last night
To wish us well with love and light
AS WE JOURNEY FROM OUR MAIDEN.
WOMB...
To keep our writes like hearts abloom
From the womb- till his depart
He left behind, from within his heart
All his poetry for us to keep,
When...
THE CURTAIN FALLS WITHIN OUR SLEEP
*In dedication to John (Winged Warrior)
The TITLE and the HIGHLIGHTED LINES are taken from John's very first poem written here in PoetrySoup- titled "Love's Lost"
John had amazingly but not surprisingly won the POTW honors with this brilliant poem. I am sure I speak from most of us who knew you, John. When I say R.I.P. you genuine soul. For those of you who are new to PS I urge you to read some of John's stunning poetry.
LOVE'S LOST
We awaken from within a tomb
As we journey from our maiden womb
Specks of dust within a storm
Like a shattered symphony in it's mourn
Love's lost in the land of not
Ancient ruins that time forgot
As the serpent lays the road ahead
We count love's layers that are shed
In the gallows where we reside
Love and fear live side by side
We shake hands with destiny's vine
Where past and present intertwine
The curtain falls within our sleep
As love's lost approach the deep
Can hope survive in the dragons den
For these are tales of sword and pen

I drift on a cloud above all the physical pain
I am eased by the wind and released like a balloon
Blue skies surround me with peace in the air
All I see are prominent, beautiful views below
I drift on a cloud for many miles
Not a seed of worry is in my mind
As it changes formation, I rest, I dream, I hope
Then, I hear the soft wind chime sing
I am awakened to relief of recovery

awaken bagpipes
riled up in broguish accent
traversing drawbridge
of Cawdor Castle
enchanting chanter and drones
Some days
are bright and sunny,
While others
pour the rain.
Some days
are just confusing,
And strain
a tired brain.
Some days
are overwhelming,
While others
bore the dead.
Some days
are aggravating,
And make
you wish for bed.
Some days
are made for working,
With others
meant to rest.
But the day
that I awaken,
Is by far
the very best.

Awareness of everything
Wide open eyes
Asking questions
Kiss the conscious mind
Enabling the self to thrive
Never doubt your light
Time to rise up and revive
Outlandish imagery
Transcend the ordinary
Half-hearted is no good
Entice the passion from within you
Trust your existential self
Resonate ambitions of life
Understand it's with you
Transform everything you do
Hope grows when love is renewed.
Awaken, my soul, to the rhythm of love,
Let the breeze kiss you with the song it plays,
Hearken to its sighs of susurration,
Let the flower of kindness bloom afresh,
Shaken when you are, hold fast to firm faith,
Let the music of hope enliven you,
Darken not your thoughts with negative gloom,
Let passion for goodness rule inside you,
Broken trust, revive with forgiving mind,
Let the whispers of the wind arouse you,
Stricken with affection, be Nature's friend,
Let the sun shine on you with rays of grace,
Unspoken words cannot hurt you or heal,
Let the feeling of peace wash over you,
Quicken, my soul, to the sound of zephyr,
Let it caress and cleanse you from within.
Some never awaken.
In the endless stream of my consciousness, amidst shadows that open like flowers
In the diffuse light of our drowsy existence,
I also hibernate, a traveler wandering through the crystal labyrinth of time.
Restlessness envelops me like a dark wave,
Each minute slipping into the abyss of monotony.
I no longer feel joy, only faint echoes flickering
In the deep darkness, like the lost whispers of frozen dreams.
Life flows past me, a river of translucent shadows,
Work, roads, familiar faces,
Shadows of a withered existence, wax dolls
Dancing a silent ball in the stearic moonlight.
But then, like a golden spark in the void,
A word, a verse, a melody,
Pierces the thick veil of my hibernation,
A shock treatment that stirs my frozen soul.
I wake up, startle as if I had seen
A falling star in an endless sky.
Blood flows in my veins again,
The warmth of life envelopes me, the scent of pleasure
Blooms on my lips like a forgotten smile.
Through open eyes, I watch these shadows
Carve their paths on darkened trails.
Some will never awaken,
But I have been blessed with the gift
Of feeling my being reborn.
Now I live every moment, every pulse
As a dance of the spirit on the edge of eternity.
Maybe one day, I too will become a shadow again,
But until then, I run through life,
Able to feel, to love, to burn.
Some never awaken,
But I have awakened,
And life flows within me,
A pure flame that defies the darkness.
confusion slips into our beds
games the minds of gentle heads
twists familiars to never-beens
personas dark mask every scene
far away from hearth and home
on echoes' endless shouts I roam
in vain retrieve my former life
confusion wakes ~ a butcher knife
I Awaken a child
to the nearness of my mother;
Feeling her breath of warmth--
(apparent is the joy
on her face
a labor well done);
my eyes maturing
not quite focus
I trustingly reach
for her special day
and mine
our discovery;
it is the grasp
of a newborn,
and the surrendering
of an
infinite universe
to love....
