I Awaken

I Awaken a child
to the nearness of my mother;
Feeling her breath of warmth--

(apparent is the joy
on her face
a labor well done);

my eyes maturing
not quite focus
I trustingly reach
for her special day
and mine
our discovery;

it is the grasp
of a newborn,

and the surrendering
of an
infinite universe
to love....

This is lovely and profound, yet with over 1700 views is mine the first comment? What are folks doing out there in poetrysoup land?

Thank you so much, L.J.. I always loved this work. Could never understand why so few comments and yet so many reads. Well, your beautiful comment will be treasured. Bless you, bless you, bless you! Joe.
