Everest-Altitude With Attitude

Glittering diamond summit, was only one day away.
Genetic characteristics, now coming to the fray.
Evaluating patience and a knack for fearing fear.
Drive ice-screw into crevice with the summit drawing near.

Speculative Winter sun,in a mortuary of blue.
Everest conquered only,by the very chosen few.
Snarling pit-bull winds with oxygen levels low.
Bar-headed geese feed on climbers down below.

Months of seasoned snowfall, lies dormant up above.
Metamorphisising snowflakes, slide like a velvet glove.
Snow now starts to shift,on the angled valley floor.
The sound every climber fears,a deathly thunderous roar.

Snow is all around them as they swim to stay on top.
It hammers down the mountain-side and just doesn't stop.
Shovels,crampons,ice-picks now litter the terrain.
Hooks and pulleys mangled from the snows heavy strain.

Rejected by the mountain as they tumble to their graves.
This altitude has attitude,no fortune for the brave.
Bar-headed geese circle in the valley of the dead.
As hours go by the snow there, has turned a crimson red.

Canada Geese Making Altitude

Like a mess of hooting school kids freed for vacation,
They come honking and scolding

Long before you see them they come honking and scolding

Hidden from sight by leafy trees,
They are loudly scolding, urging, bragging,
“Get flapping”. “My turn to lead.” “Your turn to lead. “Let Fergus lead,”
I imagine.

When at last overhead I can see them and they are honking, without rhythm.
Honking, and forming lines;

A long line at first, a perfect line,
Then a splinter slides astride
And two perfect lines form, a skewered vee.

A flying wing it is now, yawing left, and then yawing right,
Sensing the wind’s direction, its velocity,
Looking for a helping wind. Looking for a lift.

And honking and scolding.

They pass behind more leafy trees and they are gone,
Still honking and scolding,
Still searching for the streaming air.

And going southward.

Premium Member Ascent of Faith-Altitude

Almighty God, the supreme Father above
assures me, through Scriptures’ precepts, His divine affection
affirming His marvelous vibrant love’s abundance
always at work to grant pardon absolutely
and assuage my guilt-caused anguish*
as I confess my iniquities, spiritually atrocious…
along my heart’s repentant acquiescence.

Asserting His grace, at all times amazing
Author of my faith awakens me against arrogance-attack
accommodating me around His fellowship’s altar
auspicious --- according to sovereign mercy’s assistance
available to absolve my sin-wages’ affliction
already paid by Christ’s blood of efficacious atonement...
…acquitting me from eternal condemnation toward heavenly abode.

Alertly apprehended against selfish appetency
admonished soul of mine, accepting adversities' alarms
asks forgiveness after ardent admission
aware of worldly enticements that grievously allure
amidst appeasing ephemeral affinities, carnally awry;
abiding now in His will, I adore God, appreciating Him, gratefully awed…
…ascending toward blissful service of faith-altitude.

*Psalm119:143 Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet thy (LORD’s) commandments are my delights.

Lofty altitudes

Lift away my earth grown mood

Feathers grow new fluff

As hearts' idyllic feel soars

Through blue skies' serene caress

Miles are between us,
still you can’t stop chattering;
Life is such a high
caught in this cumulus drift;
Altitude I can breathe in.

Altitude Adjustment

"What I do all day works..."
works much better then
"what i do all day is work".

Microlight

Microlight

When they appeared, we were like, “What …the?” motorcycles
dangling from multi-coloured wings, animated comic book scene
blond wisps racing at leisure in deliberate mid-morning breeze
rainbow spectrum gone haywire, in the azure June sky
they were flaunting metallics, Kariba breams in fish eagle talons.

They hovered above, the whole school was set in a frenzy
nerds set books aside, watched in awe, tree-hoppers
gnawing into altitude like Superman, zooming in to land
ZAKA AIRSTRIP from Buffalo Range Aerodrome passing
through Eaglemont, dodging murk from the hosts.

The first time Gogo had seen the sun being made to shrivel
like a berry in the sun by something audible was back
in ‘the year of grasshoppers’, a great swarm had turned
the high solar heat to warm by a massive green curtain
that came down to roost with a whirr, a body, onto a village
of keen locust eaters, leaving skeletal contents for the silo

a celebratory mood took over, there was nothing fishy here
she undid her floral *zambia swirling, bringing it down
dust was confetti showers rewinding. Gogo ululated
blissful as a bride, took to a prance, a new kind of dance
round and round her third leg. Wakanda? A vibranium-like rod

It was raining men!
Airmen!

Bated breath stills Arctic style cruelty
        Clustered lichen mapped boulders crouch
        Exhale cackles an altitudinous eulogy
Mountain leer leans with tortured slouch

        Tested foliage tentatively reappears
        tougher than Summer's youthful splurge
Bent are the branches, by windswept years
        Trunks resist standard vertical urge

Wizened torso raspy ribs shed bark
        Becomes much needed garment covering
        Tawny coloured critters, burrowed, smart
          - sharp mist crystal bluster buffering

Frigid naked twigs survive, fixed, jagged
Pom poms of teal-grey tight leafed stayers
         Twisted branches turn handles, haggard
Wicked witch wind pure Winter conveyer

Thirty mile wide wisdom vista captivates
Risen from sea level, knowing as a century
         Harking seagull's coastal hug hesitates
Too fickle to make mountain her sanctuary

Wise scamper from door to door directly
Watch the mood change from inside cave
View whisked momentarily by fog's trajectory
Altitude on tiny astute psyche engraved

Christmas Altitude

Happy childhood flight down the stairs for kids,
smiles a mile wide
Looking for toy surprises ...
youthful spirits soaring sky high
Joyous laughter with each gift unwrapped
Parent Santas open the door
for a sleigh runway
Flying feet on a brand new bicycle,
reaching the proper Christmas altitude
Landing gear wheels spinning
on a motion vertical
Rubber stop from the new kick heels
Christmas sonic boom delight ...
journey of love return hugs —
Angelic-winged euphoric sighs
coming back down to earth

Altitude

What can the light give us?

The faith to start

The courage to impart

The clarity to define

The energy to realign

The power to discover

The wisdom to uncover

The vision to seek

The strength to keep

The curiosity to inspect

The culpability to resurrect

The discretion to know

The motivation to grow

The passion to reveal

The permission to heal

What can the light give us?

Infinite altitude

It’s Attitude Stupid, Not Altitude

Tom

Altitude is how high you fly,
Attitude is your mindset upon returning.

The attitude of one highbrow,
Has the ability to cause chaos for the throngs.

To experience meaningful change,
Attitudes must become part the new paradigm.
