The body keeps its ledgers~
purple ink beneath the skin,
a ledger of missteps and collisions.
Some bloom tender as dusk,
others harden into topography,
maps of what we survived.
They whisper in fading yellows:
here,
you were alive enough to hurt.
Drying its wings and held arrows chasing
As a racer, always on the move
Thinking of effect and cause ... everything has its price
Never shoot arrows in headwind
To beat the blue grass ~ the golden arrows
Work accidents with consequences

Today I had the roughest day that I have ever had
Of all the crazy, wacky ones, this day’s been really bad
It started when I first woke up and fell out of my bed
I cut my scalp so deep the blood was dripping from my head
I found some gauze and taped it on until the bleeding stopped
I put the coffee on then in the shower quickly hopped
But then I dropped the bar of soap, that’s when I slipped and fell
I twisted my right ankle and my knee began to swell
I poured some shampoo on my head and lathered up my hair
But some of it got in my eyes and burned beyond compare
Then as I limped out of the tub and went to grab my towel
I noticed something smelled real bad, something very foul
The eggs that I was boiling were now burning in the pot
The house was filled with smoke and the alarm just wouldn’t stop
I grabbed the broom and swatted the alarm with all my might
Instead I hit the ceiling lamp and shattered the whole light
I quickly backed away as glass had flown around the room
The day was only one hour old but I was filled with doom
I opened up the windows and the smoke went streaming out
My neighbors must have called the firemen I have no doubt.
Then in the hazy smoke I got some glass stuck in my foot
I guess I should have sat right down and really just stayed put
The firemen were quick to come, and call an ambulance
I felt like I was in a daze, a crazy dream or trance
The EMS removed the glass that stuck inside my feet
They bandaged up my ankle and my knee, they were so sweet
I guess I just can’t win, so back to bed I’ll go and stay
And hopefully, tomorrow it will be a better day
It's winter in Michigan,
and accidents happen this time of year
Cars often lose control,
traveling on those treacherous icy roads
It's dangerous in this northern hinterland,
things tend to happen that causes consternation and fear
Poor ventilation and a faulty gas valve stem
will bleed too much deadly carbon monoxide into your system
Accidents happen,
accidents happen all the time
Accidents seem to happen a little more
in these frost bitten polar climes
But if you survive the artic winter,
and trundle out of the deep freeze cold
Springtime in Michigan
will eat you alive with those monster pot holes!
It always seems as though, the first line holds this key....
Creating a moment it's poetic course yet, rarely, be she thus
Adrift about his isles desert dunes like Ishmael, an outcast; tides
These ebbs in flows to scrutinize their Archer's bow ? Zodiac's montage.
Today, I was missed by a bullet
fired by a sniper in Syria,
a runaway train 10,000 miles from it,
and every swing of the
Grim Reaper’s scythe in between.
A repeat of so many days
of good coincidences.
Life is but an accident of time and geography,
we the beneficiaries of a random amnesty.
Tomorrow, I shall rise
and raise song unto the vaulting blue
for my privilege of sun.
In a split second, life can be snuffed
Unforeseen events cause misery
Why this is so, ‘tis a great mystery
Of such our lives are suitably stuffed
None of us should ever be bluffed
Accidents are main features of history.
In a split second,
The role of accidents is often sloughed
We are victims of information trickery,
Believing what we hear becomes primary
Facetiously, going through life chuffed,
In a split second.

[Rondine, a form I learned
from writings of Jeff Kyser]
Talking to his quite young daughter
Was sometimes like talking to a wall
To him the message seemed to be plain
But to her, just not the case at all!
So once again he sat her down
He said, "That look there, just won't do"
He said, "Accidents will happen,"
"Sometimes it will be number two!"
Those britches were no worse for wear
There's was no call to raise a fit
It could have happened to anyone,
But she still makes fun of him for it!
Within a realm of accidents
Nothing would have a point.
No cause can come from randomness,
No purpose to appoint.
No choice you make is of design,
There is no meaning found.
No order would exist at all,
If chaos did abound.
Reality cannot exist,
If nothing came before.
And life cannot create itself,
A fact we can't ignore.
If time and space did not exist,
Nor too did gravity;
And if no matter could be found,
No sign of energy,
Could these things suddenly appear,
If all had been erased?
This is the kind of fairytale
That science has embraced.
Yet, steadfast, they will stand their ground,
And argue 'til they're blue.
The paradigm that they accept,
Finds no purpose in you.
An accident is what they are,
The truth is out of joint.
For in a random universe,
Their theories have no point.
It's through intelligent design,
That worth is found in man,
There is no purpose to our lives
Unless there is a plan.
So if you disagree with me,
It is irrelevant.
Yours thoughts are like the pointless dreams
Of random accidents.
ACCIDENTS IN TIME and SPACE a Pollock Ekphrasis
A counterpoint to tease floating
paint in swirls and mounds full
of radiant energy and surprise,
an adventure for our eyes,the
texture comes alive.
Opulence ,intricate yet plain
apparent yet unreal accidents
in time and space,colour
flowing without restraint

Napping thru days with Vicodin nights,
slow healing is my plight..
Heating pad between the thighs,
too much pain other wise..
How much longer until I mend?
Will I ever walk again?
At times this pain is excruciating.
Now it's time for me to stop complaining.
Some say miseries are a divine blessing.
What's the lesson here God's stressing?
Why do accidents occur, slow us down,
fractures?
Do we need reminders of our mortality?
There are no accidents in spirituality..
This painful journey,
this opportunity God sends, was it to remind me
to surrender to him?
TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS
Undeclared war of stupidity
No commanders - anarchy
No ranks, no orders
No hands up, no prisoners
No medals, no white flag
No peace treaties, no appeal to the JAG
No winners - only losers
Everybody’s enemy - drunken drivers.
Look what you have done to my shoelaces, Fluffy!
Now that's hardly a nice thing to do.
There are things in this world, from a twig to a bone,
that are more admirably suited to chew.
I don't wish to be hypercritical, Fluffy.
You might easily have done something worse,
but there are things in this world, which, not done up,
lead one all too soon to a hearse.
driving down the street jamming out to the beat
not knowing what we were about to meet
the next thing i knew i had fallen asleep
waking up to the screeching of tires
i pinched myself hoping it was just a bad dream
as i feel something grab me pulling me to safety
i look back and i see the complete opposite
pain blood agony
my friends my family nearing death
the sound of sirens draw nearer and nearer
carting one by one off to the hospital
for hope that their lives can be saved
sitting int he waiting room
pondering why it wasnt me looking death in the eye
why must i always be the one standing by
why is it my hearts the one to cry
too many times its me saing goodbye
as the sun starts to rise
i jet back home so my parents arent surprised
jump in the shower getting ready as if nothing happened
during the day my mask is put on the night is when it comes off
forced to face reality of the horrifying accident that had just happened
every breathe i take feels as though it is not worthy of being breathed
what has happened to me
why all the lies why all the pain
where did the old me go
day by day i wait anxiously for the latest news about my friends
till finally the out come has arrived
marcus will not survive
after hearing the news my heart shattered into a million pieces
how many more are going to be taken away
where am i supose to go from here
tear after tear
my heart grows with more fear
fear of loosing others fear to take off my mask and show the world i am hurting
how can this be how can so many people die when it should be me
the answer is it was an accident
nothing can be changed about what has happened
the cure is time
and that is what i seem to have a whole lot of
Accidents cause hate,
As accidents take shape.
These accidents can kill,
But they’re only accidents.
Accidents can cause,
And accidents prevent.
Accidents make the world,
Our accidents can effect.
Accidents flip our minds,
As accidents take up time.
And accidents can be covered,
Then accidents will be discovered.
Accidents cause hate,
As accidents can kill.
We must take shape,
And prevent them we will.
