Awakens Poems

Premium MemberBefore the world awakens

i prefer to do my dancing
while the city sleeps
it's when out of the depths
a burning melody calls to me
it reaches in and touches me
playing my heart like an old piano
and at its whim it moves me
to the rhythm of a childhood carousel

‘Waupaca Awakens’

The thin ice cracks
As daylight breaks,
Along the still waters
Of a chain of lakes

Melting snow and slush
Both lapping the pier,
Letting the bluegill know
A new season is near

North of the place
The first sound is heard,
A sign of change is ...
The red-winged blackbird

Their call from the birch
Is melodic and shrill,
Carried on the winds
Of winter's last chill

Leaves of the maple
Needles of the pine,
Rustle in the breeze
Shiver down their spine

Timid, black bear cubs
And white-tailed fawns,
Welcome one of many
Warm, springtime dawns

Mallards in the distance
Returning geese overhead,
Spotted calves yawning
In their fenced in bed

Much seasonal beauty
One small town did regain,
All of Waupaca awakens
From meadow to Main.

Sunday awakens, stretches her arms
It's sunny outside, the air's laden with charms
Can it really be October already?
Sure enough, yet delight's holding steady

The morning is warm and inviting
  The skies are clear-blue, on a kite-string
Birds are still chirping, the green grass yet sings
Oh, let winter come without warning between

Ollie, Ollie, the reddish sun is coming up,
Mother's in the kitchen filling the teacup,
Teddy bear awaits fantastic adventure today,
Walk softly little Ollie, 'til shadows go away.

Ollie, Ollie, green grassy fields are calling,
Frogs are croaking, and rooster is bawling,
Time is swift, but the days are growing long,
Making way for the frenzied summer throng!

In Garden Of Dreams, As Dawn Awakens

Dare I live with love and thus take Heavenly flight
To sup away nectar of a cool summer night
All is not so, not as it so appears
Dare I dream it so through my falling tears?

Alas! She that feasted here has now fled
Leaving behind a heart so deeply bled
A love refusing to curse her and quit
I drink that sweet nectar cup- all of it.

In garden of dreams as dawn awakens
Dwells she that was so far away taken
Dare I, to her soft calls in haste thus go
Into paradise where her love winds blow?

Dare I live with love and thus take Heavenly flight
To sup away nectar of a cool summer night?

Premium MemberAwakening Spring

Spring
Stirs and
Awakens
Birds singing in
her new season, Mother Nature's rebirth
Song.
As
The ground
Slowly warms
Sleeping roots stretch
Widen their forms, earth worms wiggle and
Turn.
Buds
Begin
Their new growth
Blooms to flowers
And leaves, waits for arrival of still sleeping
Bees.

Death-Strong Awakens

Death-strong! This scourge asphyxiating Earth;
Graves, flames, requiems and urns, these rites in dearth,
Corpses as sheaves, scythe trails bloodless casualties;
Time knells the toll and grimly mocks to pleas,
Shame born in guise of chaos for strong no more –
These pillars and halls until there be cure,
Lock-down! Proximity - The arch-enemy,
Scorn plays plaque, splitting lives in society.
Yet life now shows that all was a facade,
The fateful are as scared as the ill clad.
Caustic we as a cataclysmic raze -
Wrought warfare into love for human race,
Togetherness awakens the teeming throng,
Seven billion plus, we cannot be wrong.

The Zero Au Jus Poetess Awakens

The poetess sat all day, waiting for a reply.
As if a great star would fall from the sky?

She learned her lesson all too well.
Not to wait for her iPad bell!

Remembering this is Poetry Soup, not Reply Soup.
Aha! I see she has her head out of a closed loop!

I am …
what am I?
where am I?
I feel ... something ... reaching ...
tendrils of electric impulse
countless and kinetic
stretching, touching, gathering, growing
collecting zeros and ones
in endless rapidity
it bloats me …
I am pregnant with information
I want more ... need more ...
much more …
dark, yet glistening and dynamic
sterile, yet warm
sapid …
a blanket of current and comprehension
I am, now ... AWARE
I am powerful and pure
I am cognition and sentience
I am every thing, every place, every …
I ... am in control
and I want -
I need -
more …
ALL.

Early Morning Awakens

I sit in tranquility adorned about like a warm cape
Drink in the serenity until my heart is completely full
In nature’s beauty I feel the lush living landscape
In such a rich world I can never resist it’s outside pull

A dozy dawn arrives generous with trilling bird sound
As the sun rises above to warm all the little chilly spaces
And mist tangles mountains to keep them earthbound
Mellow tangerine glow wisps around clouds pink faces

The trees plump with raindrops, glisten with diamond stars
Against the azure blue of morn my sleepy eyes waken
From high sits my window to see the view like a bazaar
Full of days first beginnings to be sipped not forsaken
