Southern Living

I moved South from Seattle's rainy haze,
To Atlanta's charm in the early 80s days.
They called me a Yankee, a foreign soul,
But Southern living soon took its toll.

Sightseeing spots, reminders of the past,
Stone Mountain, Kennesaw hills, memories that last.
Civil war echoes lingered in the air,
A history woven into Southern flair.

Spring arrived, painting the land anew,
Dogwood trees

At the Atlanta Zoo

In all of the United States,
Four pandas still remain,
Until next year, when they’ll return
Back home to their terrain.

So being in Atlanta,
Where these bears are on display,
We visited the zoo and had
A most delightful day.

Of course, we watched the pandas
As they munched on their bamboo,
But there were much more interesting
Animals on view.

The parks offer peace
'Til someone is killed by guns
Sometimes~stabbing, girl and dog

Nearly every night or even in daylight someone is killed in the Atlanta area (including several towns and counties), sometimes in twos.

as he flew Christmas Eve near Atlanta.
When Santa Claus farted,
the reindeer all darted.
And poor Santa cried out, "Oh, Mylanta!”

Atlanta Shootings

There were some more hate crimes the other day.
Eight unfortunate victims had their lives blown away.
The murders happened at spas around Atlanta.
This is the largest city in the southeastern state of Georgia.
It seems Asian-Americans all over our nation
have been targeted with crimes and racial discrimination.
This has culminated into an unfortunate growing trend.
It seems racially-motivated hatred

There was a guy whose nickname was Santa
That hailed from the great state of Atlanta 
.              Who acted like scrooge
              And a huge, loud stooge
    

Museum Sonnet

I wish I was back there, winter’s chill gone
with the sun and my coconut curry 
soup. Breathing bready smells, gazing down on
the Dogwood trees on West Paces Ferry.
My dad: I think he and I have the same
soul. We went by ourselves for a whole day,
