Premium Member A Dog and Cat

A dog and cat
are not great pals, but I have seen
a dog and cat,
friends on the street. Imagine that!
These strays share food in times so lean.
How sweet when nothing comes between
a dog and cat!

He Is Still Just a Dog

He Is Still Just a Dog

By Elton Camp

It’s obvious that you think your dog’s mighty fine
From the way you boast of his amazing bloodline
And with the American Kennel Club he is on the list
To show his registration papers you always insist

To ever so many dog shows you and Jacque will go
You think the judges will say that he’s best in show
Even if he should somehow manage to fool them
I’ve seen too much to be overly impressed with him

For at the park I saw that Jacques was still inclined
Get a big whiff of the odor of another mutt’s behind
To think he’s special, you own self you are tricking
Because afterward I saw what it was he was licking

If he is so fancy, then you would surely want to think
That from the bathroom toilet he wouldn’t take a drink
Although you believe that your dog is so sophisticated,
To all of those lesser curs, his actions show he’s related

Premium Member Why We Love Them

No matter how bad a day they've had

A dog will always do

Whatever it takes to make you glad,

To show a love that's true.

That's why we love them too.

Even if they are hurt or scared

They'll offer comfort to you

By showing you that they cared.

That's what a dog will do

And that's why we love them too.

Little Dog

Little Dog

This last Mothers day
My wife’s little dog passed away

Holly was my wife’s little love
Both now are in the heaven above

Holly did not like the cold
Poor Holly only ten years old

I miss my wife so much
I also miss that little dog’s touch

I just had to adopt a little dog for me
This little dog named Maggie

My Profession

I went to school for dog training and to groom
I wanted to be the best
mistakes, in this field,
there is no room,
and your always put to the test,
My teachers,
they were hard on me,
The speaches,
on equipment and safety,
learning all the different hair cuts,
to give these wonderful mutts,
each dog,
different, a little bit,
It took me a while,
I have to admit,
they all have to look great,
you can't run late,
sometimes a dog will get a nick,
you have to know what to do,
and you can't panic,
cause dogs, they feel through you,
but at the end of the day,
when the dogs look soooooo good,
would I go through it all again?
why yes, I suppose I would.

Pet Sitting Panic's

Oh my goodness,
the dog has gone poo,
Uh oh, NOT THERE,
What am I gonna do?
Go get a wet rag,
and a bottle of windex,
wip it all up,
and move on to the next,
Oh my goodness,
the dog ate my lunch,
shouldn't have left it so close,
woof woof, munch,
Oh my goodness,
the fogs run away,
got to go find hime,
there's no time for play,
Oh my goodness,
the dog was right here,
Ar'nt you glad that he stayed very near?
Now it's time for some rest,
until the next day,
this pup's put you through the test,
but would you have had it,
any other way?

Dogs

Man's best friend, we cannot argue that
Will protect all, even if they have to die
Lick and kiss you when you come home drunk
You can't expect that out of a old cat
And it hard to make a pet out if a butter fly
Don't even think about parading around with a skunk

A Chiuahua his mind, thinks he is junk yard dog mean
But their annoying back makes them a good watch dog
Just a plain hound dog loves a good bone
Poodles at a dog show , one of the best to be seen
Coon dogs will get a rabbit out of a log
Any dog, you can't beat them when you are along

They are happy, when wagging their tail
When growling, ifI was you might want to stand back
When snapping they will bite
They seem to get mad at the man carrying the mail
And don't think that a sleeping dog will not attack
Go from zero to sixty when they get on the fight

When you have done something wrong you are in the dog house
When a dog sleeps in the house, he is looking at your bed
And then you will howl
Leave it to them okd cats to catch a mouse
They will come no matter what you call them, "come on Red"
Every dog I have ever had, was my best pal

"ole Dog" :Inspired By Richard Pickett Poetry

Ole dog sniffin' don't know what,
His daddy was a beagle,
His mama was a mutt,
Long ears draggin' on the ground,
Loose skinned forehead
makin him frown,
Tail up and waggin' like a victory flag,
Dog years showin'
In his belly sag.
Old and gray but ain't ready to die,
Got a limp in his walk,
But a sparkle in his eye,
He knows his master will be calllin' him home,
And reward his huntin' with a big ole bone.
He lives for the love of that rough old man,
Adores him for a while
And gently licks his hand.
After a bit, Ole Dog will sprawl
by the fire on the rug,
And dream 'bout huntin''
With "Jackson the Pug".

Jacksons Walk In the Park

Jackson took a walk one day,
in the City's central park
The first thing that Jackson saw,
was a stunning meadowlark

As he sauntered down the path,
to the pretty little pond
Jackson smelled the hot dog stand,
of which he was so fond

Every time that Jackson came,
walking in the park
He knew he'd get a hot dog,
with his happy little bark

Mr. Jones the hot dog man,
would give his head a pat
and give to him a hot dog,
and tip his white chef's hat

Now that Jackson's bellies full
he went about his way
He'd get another hot dog,
when he came another day

He came upon the pretzel man,
his name was Mr. True
Who said " hello there Jackson,"
" here's a pretzel just for you"

Jackson, so enjoyed his daily walk,
in the City's central park
It's time that he was heading home,
for soon it will be dark

Now Jackson's home all safe and sound,
and snuggled in his bed
with visions of a hot dog,
dancing in his head.

Buddy and Baily

Buddy the dog and Baily the cat
were the best of friends,
you'll see them cuddled up together
when the daytime ends

One day they went outside to play
wandered off into the woods,
they came across a babbling brook
they'd cross it if they could

Buddy heard a voice come from a tree
and smiled at what he saw,
the voice he heard was Spike the Squirrel
saying," to cross the water use that log"

Spike the Squirrel, came down the tree
and asked them both their names,
"I'm Buddy the dog,I'm Baily the cat
"you're Spike the Squirrel you say"

Spike the Squirrel showed them the way
to get across the brook,
they all went across the log
a minute was all it took

The hours seemed to speed away
for the three new friends,
Buddy the dog, and Baily the cat
wished the day would not end

They said goodbye to their friend Spike
as they went on their way,
Buddy the dog and Baily the cat
would come back again some day!

Look for more adventures from Buddy and Baily yet to come.........Taz

Dog

God, you gave
A dog to me,
And when she died—
(My best of friends)
Who, all Selfless, cared for me—
Who Lov-ed
Unconditionally,
I screamed.

O God! You gave
A dog to me.
I deserved no such good thing!
And when she died
I howled, I wept
inconsolably.

For Suzi Q Oct 19, 2009
She had a soul. Where she is,
I hope to be accounted good enough to go.

Fleas

The cat sat on the mat
The mat sat on the floor
The budgie's on the mantlepiece
The dog is by the door

I'm sitting in the armchair
Feeling ill at ease
The dog has started scratching
I think that He's got fleas

I take him in the bathroom
I put him in the tub
Run some lukewarm water
And give him a good scrub

I've got some doggy shampoo
It's really got some clout
It gets a real good lather
And the buggers all fall out

Rinse him off and dry him
And sit him by the heat
Go into the kitchen
And get him food to eat

Nearly time for sleep now
There's one thing that I dread
If the dog has still got fleas
Do I want him on the bed ?

The Chivera (Goat Dog...True Story)

Once on a ranch in Texas, a new pup was born, the mother had died
An old Mexican man that worked there, put the pup on a nanny goat
As time went on, the dog stayed with the goat herd day and night, the dog thought
    it was a goat

Who Needs Grandchildren?

I'm taking him to concerts out there on the lawn
have to sit and suffer
middle school jazz band
and pretend to like it with the rest of us
I'm taking him to the bank
and then to taco bell
maybe to the car wash
oh what the hell
we have to go to training
teaching in a pack
sometimes he wants to eat a small dog
yap yap yap
he heels like a champ now
but he wont come when I call
there's nothing better than dog love
nothing better at all
at night we get worn out walking
and then we sit and read
sometimes we have a moment
when we know our love is real
eye to eye and big dog kiss
who could want anything more than this?
