ABOUT ME : Late babyboomer Canadian born in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec, and raised in Northern Ontario. Fell in love with Ottawa where I received my B.A. with a major in french literature. Still living in Ottawa, I'm finding out that oncoming golden years offer a very rich perspective on life and beauty.

The themes of my poetry are found in everyday life. I write mostly free verse but I'm also a member of Haiku Canada and have had haiku published in various anthologies.

Please visit often my growing collection of poems and I hope you find many will resonate with you. I'd love to hear your comments.

By the way, my name is pronounced Lynn, and my avatar is an ink painting I created on rice paper years ago. The symbol means PLAY - something I have finally learned to do in later years and poetry is definitely my favorite form of play.

We had the memorial service this afternoon by the river. It was a lovely location, windy and cold but the sun came out in the end. You had to be bundled well for sure. I feel surprisingly calm tonight. Probably because it went really well. It was wonderful that we were able to hook up my mother and many invitees to participate by zoom. Hooray for technology when it works. It was a wonderful tribute and sendoff. I opened it up by reading a little speech I had written. Dennis' daughter spoke. We had a reader read a list of all the wishes of condolences that had come in. Now I have the urn at home right where it belongs. Together again.

It seems I am always late when it comes to hearing about sad events such as yours, Line, and of course, ironically, I never know how to put my sorrow in to words. I wish for you that your memories increasingly help you to smile through your tears, and someday ease your pain.

I am so truly sorry, Line, and my heart aches for you ... may he be carried tenderly on angels' wings to the next adventure, and may the passing of time bring understanding and peace. I have learned to embrace grief over the last couple of years, (having lost my father, a best friend, mother-in-law, cousin - all at the end of October), and see it as it truly is - a very important part of love ... a payment, yes, but also the very proof of how deeply we loved. I no longer fear it as I did, but it has not made it any easier. Sending you many poetic hugs of empathy and understanding, and a shoulder, should you ever need it. :-( <3

An eagle has come to rest~ Such a journey it was~ Through the fields and valleys~ Over tree tops and lakes~ Spanning a lifetime~ With the wind at his back~ The family at his side~ It was a very good flight~ With the ever so present~ The twinkles in his eye~ The sunshine in his heart~ His horizons~ Golden as far as he can see~ That touched the family's heart~ Passed on as gifts~ Everso his lasting presence~ To his loved ones~ Line, I join in with others in expressing my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. I did write a little extra as it helps me cope with some pain I've been through. I hope everyone here the very best.
