My Biography is Coming Soon...

Love it or hate it; it has its uses

AI... the scourge of artistic creativity!

I wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment, but...

On a poetry site, the poem is key

Drawings, artwork and music are illustrative ONLY!

Let me assure you that I shall never post a word

that I didn't write, but... I'd bet we'd all like to hear some of our

words recited or sung but have not the contacts...

My first dabble at using AI for 'text to song' was astounding,

frightening and intriguing in equal measure.

Absolutely, honestly, my first AI song, WHICH I WROTE BUT DID NOT COMPOSE

is, after much experimentation, available in my poem, ' Annie's Song'.

It's quite uncanny!

I love letting Suno write music to go with my own poems. And sometimes, the music gives me ideas for adding verses/refrains. Much fun, and absolutely amazing what humans come up with in the form of these programs!!!

Jeff Suno is good if you are a paid member but there’s something I read on Google that irks: “If you make music with the Basic (free) plan, Suno is the owner of the songs. You are allowed to use the songs for non-commerical purposes. If you make songs while subscribed to the Pro or Premier plan, you own the songs. Further, you are granted a commercial use license to monetize those songs.” I remain confused by who owns the lyrics in each plan. I say tread carefully. Cheers - Gary

l agree AI composed music is outstanding and there are now awards being given for AI film scores. But there is a problem though with AI music composing in the music industry. It is that it is is worrying Artists as the AI tech is taken from massive of data bases ( which all AI does) taken from others music composing which is then used by the AI. and now legal problems are arising as to who owns the 'copy rights' A famous Artist bought a composed music for his lyrics, it turned out it was AI produced and the original owner recognised their music, now suing the Artist. Its turning very messy legal fighting :(

Yes I agree wholeheartedly => the embellishments add to the enjoyment of the readers of the poem. One additional benefit is for the author. Hearing it sung as a draft can help improve the meter and rhythm of the poem. Cheers!

Terry, it's my opinion that your use of AI to enhance a poet's words is a lovely and acceptable way of using it. AI is not a double-edged sword for only if it's used in writing that's passed off as human does it cut and despoil poetry.

I add my voice to Constance and Andrea. Thank you for this blog. It mirrors my sentiments exactly. Poems have to be free of AI wording or else what's the point?

I think we’re all on the same page Eileen. I only hope that as AI gets even erm… cleverer, that the AI checkers will do too.

It's only the poetry itself being AI that upsets me. Hardly anyone is mentioning illustrations and music here. They are nice but not Soup's focus. I think most people think as I do.

I think anything like that makes one's writing stand out. Keep it up, Terry.

I only mentioned non-writing elements of AI in defence of their use in association with our writings. My own rum and raisin poems feature images of two AI kittens which I borrowed on the basis that you can’t copyright AI. I also thought people might fancy having a dabble with those text-to-song apps ;-)

Terry, I agree as long as your words are not AI, for me it does not matter if the music, video, or images are AI, it is the words that must be a poet's/writers real words ~

I think, the first time one sees what a bunch of bits and bytes can do, musically, with one’s writing… astounded is about right. Alas, as in poetry, these apps can not only put music to your lyrics, but apparently they can write the lyrics for you. What’s the point? I hear you ask. My reply… “Search me!”
