How To Win One Of My Contest.
I look for ease of flow and poetic devices (such as alliteration, metaphors, and expressive feelings) without being overly flowery or tethered to a thesaurus.
Please check all poems for rhyme or syllable counts before entering them in one of my contests requiring either. I want everyone to have a fair and equal chance to win.
I only accept “RhymeZone” as your source for perfect rhymes (no near rhymes or adding an “s” to a word...Example : (Day and Rays) do not rhyme!
And I only accept “How Many Syllables” as your source for the number of syllables in a word. I know that this site can be controversial; however, to be fair to all participants, I will only accept this site to judge your poems.
Please do not state at the bottom of your entry that you used these reference sites when in fact, you have not, for I check every single poem against these sites, and all too often, I’ve found that they were not used.
I hope this helps explain why some poems, although well written, were not chosen as winners.
Have a good day, my friends, Emile.
