A big Hi to all and a Happy Easter
It's been a while since I was here last and a lot has happened in the months that I have been away.
What I have been doing is working on my first novel - The Re-invention of Jenny Wren' - as I have the chance of a publishing contract. I had to have the first 5,000 words, a synopsis and biography to the publisher by the 31st March (my birthday and hopefully a good omen) and should here back by the end of May. It's a scary but exciting time.
I have also found a publisher to produce my anthology of poetry so all in all, things are heading in the right direction.
The poems have been few and far between creation wise, but I have posted a couple over the last two weeks that I have written for my writing group homework - I hope you will check them out.
One of the poems I have posted is called 'The Day Before You Came' which is also the title of a song by ABBA which I believe was their best. The piece I have written is also in the form of song lyrics which a musician friend of mine is hopefully going to write the music for so that it can be sung.
I started to write the piece many, many years ago when I first met mylate husband Billy and was going to read it at our wedding but I only put it on a scrap of paper which got lost. However, when I was sorting through some books to send to the charity shop the other week, it fell out from among the pages of one of my favourites - The Collected Short Stories of Dylan Thomas - the words were so poignant having lost Billy two years ago now and I just had to add to it and finish it off as an epitaph to him.
Sometimes life writes stories that nobody can imagine and I'm still not where I want to be, but I am stronger now than I was two years ago and thankful that I am no longer where I was. I know good things are coming my way and hope springs eternal that this year is going to be the year it all happens.
The one thing I will say is that it is good to be back and nice to see that all my soup friends are still here.
Love to you all
Janette
