Timothy Hicks Biography

My name is Timothy Hicks, and I've been writing for 5 years now, since I was 13. My main hobbies include writing, playing my piano, origami and bicycling.

I'm a bit OCD about some things and some would refer to me as a nervous pacer. I like to do outdoor activities, but at the same enjoy my alone time where I can sit and write. I'm a very avid reader and enjoy several different genres: horror, science-fiction, fantasy, and mysteries such as Sherlock Holmes.

I've had several different jobs including shakerboarder, pizza-make and cotton candy maker-and-distributor.

I like to think of myself as someone that can fit into almost any crowd and I always try to stay on the bright side of things. I swear very little and hardly ever get mad at people. I believe spreading smiles is a much better practice than sharing negativity...

Hi Timothy: A lot of wonderful poems came from this. I have always loved word challenges and when I first began writing poetry I found a poetry site named Kookamonga Square. Each week we had a Buzz Challenge where the Administrator, Dale Edmonds, posted ten random words and we were asked to write a poem in 15 minutes and post it. It really made for some interesting poetry. I met Andrea and Connie on that site. Unfortunately, Dale passed away and eventually Kookamonga Square closed but I owe so much to him for first encouraging me too keep writing. Thanks for encouraging me. My use of benevolent with butterflies was for alliteration but alluded to Angels.....I didn't have a lot of time to

Wow, thank you Tim for liking my poem, I'm so happy !!! My words do come from my love of the outdoors, so many wonderful nights sleeping under the stars with my family! There is nothing that brings me closer to nature and my loved ones, than those times we spent watching a campfire, with sparks spiraling into the night sky. I'm so glad you agree !!

This was a lot of fun, Timothy. Very creative and definitely a challenge, which I loved. Congrats to all of those who got a placement and honorable mention. About my poem - it's a little bit self-explanatory. It's In the point of view of Eve's first daughter, expressing her need for freedom as she attempts to defend in a family cursed for their parents' wrongs. Eve's daughter is greatly misunderstood, just like the snakes and the poisonous flowers that she admires so deeply. This poem is about the importance of individuality, and the problem of labeling a group by a wrong made by one in history. One bad snake does not make all snakes terrible basically. Anyway, done. :) Always, Laura
