Timothy Hicks Biography

My name is Timothy Hicks, and I've been writing for 5 years now, since I was 13. My main hobbies include writing, playing my piano, origami and bicycling.

I'm a bit OCD about some things and some would refer to me as a nervous pacer. I like to do outdoor activities, but at the same enjoy my alone time where I can sit and write. I'm a very avid reader and enjoy several different genres: horror, science-fiction, fantasy, and mysteries such as Sherlock Holmes.

I've had several different jobs including shakerboarder, pizza-make and cotton candy maker-and-distributor.

I like to think of myself as someone that can fit into almost any crowd and I always try to stay on the bright side of things. I swear very little and hardly ever get mad at people. I believe spreading smiles is a much better practice than sharing negativity...

Hey fellow, Soupers.

So this is my first blog, and I just wanted to let everyone know I posted my first contest, March of the Footle. Feel free to enter it if you wish ... I'm new to this

I've been pretty busy these last few days, with packing, cleaning up, setting up yard-sales etc., so I'm going to take a short break from posting and commenting. But in the meantime I have a contest up and running, and so I'm curious to see how that goes!

I've only ever met one other person that was younger than me on the Soup, and he's no longer posting ... lol. Thanks for the participation ... I feel that it's going to fill up rather quickly!

Hi Timothy , Firstly ,nice bio.Very colourful !!! I just want to tell you that you write such amazing poetry for such a young age.Keep it up !!! Re contests ,I hardly ever participate in one,but may your contest fill up quick.

Thanks Charmaine. You are always so kind and supportive! It does seem strange to me that I feel like, for the most part, there's a big age gap between the majority of people on this site ... perhaps I hold an unusual interest for people in my age group *shrugs*

Hi, Tim ... Believe it or not, I've been Packing and cleaning for 3 days ((one of the 3 days I was sick)). My daughter and I might have a yard sale in 3 weeks. I'm the kind of person who puts things off until the last minute. Omg... how I wish I started last month. Lol, I knew this day was coming. I'm moving into a 5 bedroom home. My sister said I'm crazy! I haven't had much soup in 3 days. So, I might be getting a little bit of sister help in the contest area, we are good like that. ; ) The only thing I have time for when I'm resting, is returning comments or welcome the new poets. It's great to see your first blog. Sending YOU a big SMILE all the way from Houston Texas. Linda

Wow that's quite the upgrade, I'm assuming! 5 bedrooms ... do you have a big family? It's funny that you mention the theme name ... I originally wrote it just because of the play on words between "March" and "Foot".. LOL! But I thought it extra cool that it actually involves the month too. I had some other ideas for contests lined up ... depending on how busy I get I'll try to keep 'em coming :)

I have a question... The contest theme is exciting. March of the footle ;-) I have a feeling your contest is going to close fast. After that contest are you going to run a another part to your Footle contest? I just think it be kind of cool to see all kinds of footles this month. Lol... or until someone is all footle-D out ; ) ... About two years ago, several of the sponsor had the same theme... it was awesome to see everyone that loves fun have fun... Can't wait to see all your winning footles ... Linda

Good luck, Tim. A couple of pointers on things that newbie contest admins stumble on. You can close the contest as soon as you have the minimum number of entries. You do not have to wait 30 days in that case. After I have judged the contest and made placements, I use the All Poems page to verify that I did not overlook a poem that might have been eliminated in an earlier round. Expect to find some bogus entries. It always happens. To post the final results, you must close the contest and enter the date it closed. Note that you can still fix any placement errors even after you post results, as strange as that sounds. cheers.
