(Click for Poet Info...)

My name is Timothy Hicks, and I've been writing for 5 years now, since I was 13. My main hobbies include writing, playing my piano, origami and bicycling.

I'm a bit OCD about some things and some would refer to me as a nervous pacer. I like to do outdoor activities, but at the same enjoy my alone time where I can sit and write. I'm a very avid reader and enjoy several different genres: horror, science-fiction, fantasy, and mysteries such as Sherlock Holmes.

I've had several different jobs including shakerboarder, pizza-make and cotton candy maker-and-distributor.

I like to think of myself as someone that can fit into almost any crowd and I always try to stay on the bright side of things. I swear very little and hardly ever get mad at people. I believe spreading smiles is a much better practice than sharing negativity...

Ghazal - Concluded

Thanks for all who participated in my contest!

This was a tough call because I felt that at least 30 out 40 were good enough for round two, and nearly everyone I liked. Hope everyone had fun trying an unusual form :)

Props go to Tom Quigley for writing about the most unique topic ... to Silent for moving me on a personal level ... Brian for unnerving me ... Michael Spangle for his wordplay ... Andrea for her creative way of utilizing her refrain in a couple different ways ... Pashang for his melancholic verse ... Anindya for his upbeat spirit ... Victor for his search for truth (and Yes, you are better at writing the Ghazal than you think!) ... Reason Poteet for her "gorgeous escorts" ... Stephen for his call for peace ... James for his bombardment of rhymes (lol) ... Rizwana for her poem that sorta reminded me of Maya Angelou's poem "A Brave and Startling Truth", but in ghazal form ... Barbara for her lovely ode to her mother ... Sarah for making me laugh ... CayCay for her emotional write ... Jan for her intensity ... Lin for her variance on refrain lines and heartbreaking subject matter ... BW for the most creative (in my opinion) insert of her name in the final couplet ... Joyce for her ghazal that actually goes pretty well with my example poem ... And Laura Loo for her impressive 20 syllabe per line ghazal ...

And for everyone else that didn't make it to my list, I hope to see you on my next contest!

Very fun reading what you commented on each of the other winners. Congrats to all.

Thanks for hosting the contest and giving me the incentive to try something new. I loved everyone's stuff. Wouldn't have been surprised if I'd gotten skunked too...
