Born on a leap day? Born during a leap year?
The Romans designated February 29th a leap day. The Gregorian calendar fine-tuned the calculations to include a leap day in years only divisible by four.
The following rules determine which years are leap years:
©A LEAP YEAR
every year divisible by 4
©NOT A LEAP YEAR
every year divisible by 100
©EXCEPTION
a year also divisible by 400
Years 1800, 1900, 2100, 2200, 2300 and 2500 are not leap years. Years 2000 and 2400 are leap years. Year 2000 is the first time the third rule’s used in many parts of the world.
