Viewed as an isolated, unconventional painter, Carl Spitzweg’s settings and subjects were humorous and mocking. The Poor Poet is a fitting uncomplimentary scene he created of a poet warming himself in bed. It’s cold, no heat in his room, the roof leaks, pen in mouth his fingers count rhyming meters as he writes. I wonder how many poets his art has inspired before me.
This is an everybody thank you meant for the PoetrySoupers who critique and read the blogs, comments, and poetry written by me. I appreciate your encouragement and interest, it’s helping me become the best writer I can be, and for that I am much obliged. Have a peaceful, creative day filled with blessings! _Caryl
