Carrie Richard's Book was Overdue

Blog Posted:6/26/2022 7:08:00 PM

I'd like to applaud Carrie Richards (Carol) and thank her for her contribution to our book. Mark Massey prompted me six months ago with a shove and guidance through the process. The bottom line is that there is nothing like actually holding your own book in your hands and I'm honored to share that privilege with Carol. I'm quite sure that everyone on the soup came here with a drawer full of assorted scribbles and wondered if they might find like minded writers to learn from and share with. Most of us pass away and leave litle evidence we were here, yet all of you have some evidence posted on this site and if you can, at some point, even if it's in the Poetry Soup books, celebrate something you can hold and pass on.  Some might say that "You're not going to get rich doing that", true, but just having a publication is value enough. Thanks again Mark and good luck on your current production.

Thank you all so much!! I've just now stumbled upon this blog, and it is so very generous of Craig to mention me, much less that he would ask me to share in this book. I must confess, he did all of the hard work!! It had never entered my head to publish on my own, and I wouldn't have even known how to begin! I'm so grateful and honored that Craig had asked me to send him my poems and combine our poems for this book. He made it so easy for me, and he did all hard work to make it happen. And now, here I am I'm holding a book in my hand! How lucky am I?? Thank you fellow Soupers, from the very beginning your encouragement, and talent helped me grow. And taught me to own my words.

Congratulations Carrie so much (Carrie was the first poet to welcome me way back when I first joined Poetry Soup and initially posted my first poem Dad's Work Shed, her encouraging comments on my poems and kindness motivated me to write more and more and here I am today, truly a poet) I wish you all the best, blessings ~Constance

I love your sentiment: "celebrate something you can hold and pass on". This is something I would like to do but not sure how to begin. Any tips? :)Paulette

No, you are not going to get rich , but the riches is that it's in your hands and you did it . Congratulations
