AI and ME

Blog Posted by Craig Cornish: 10/4/2024 8:28:00 AM

I know, sounds like a "Self-Help" book but I'll be more direct. From now on, I'll be even more discerning in my contests and check multiple sources for AI in addition to intuitive feelings. I prefer creative interpretations anyway and AI tends to be "Hallmarkish" (too predictable) anyway, and can't yet seem to go on the oblique, which is true creative poetry. I know, there is a place for peaceful sunsets that melt into the horizon, but save them for old aunt Gertrude - she'll love 'em. If  your write comes up with more than 50ish percent on AI checkers or is just a very average interpretation of the prompt, you will not place. Team PS is correct in being able to police this without being legally responsible for liable, but we, as contest judges, are making subjective decisions as to what to accept as genuine.

Craig, I totally agree, I have three detectors I trust that I intend to use them on all poems in my contest, and any result will be a no placement and that poem will be reported to TPS to do their investigaion. We sponsors must use integrity and place poems that are truly written by poets.

Constance, will you mail me the 3 that you trust, because I like to be more sure because it would be worse to be called guilty when you're innocent -- so if it shows up on one, I'll check the others - thank you

AI poetry doesn’t belong on PoetrySoup, I agree. From an old aunty who loves peaceful sunsets and poetry.

I agree Craig but sometimes I can be that peaceful sunset guy, maybe because I'm as old as Aunt Gertrude...AI is like having a pitching machine on the mound during games, it makes no sense
