To the veteran; daughter, son
We honor you for all you’ve done.
Throughout the land, our flags we raise;
A grateful nation gives you praise.
From general to private class,
Unsung heroes and honored brass
Receive our broken, heart-felt gaze.
A grateful nation gives you praise.
No benefit nor medal pin
Begins to fill the debt within
Each fallen tear reflects a glaze
A grateful nation gives you praise.
Widows know and children feel it:
Freedom’s price, they so reveal it!
Ceremonies, wreaths they have laid
A grateful nation gives you praise.
No greater love, than sacrifice
All veterans have paid a price
May thankful prayers be upraised
A grateful nation gives you praise.

Before the King we bow the knee
And pledge eternal loyalty
For He has saved us from our foes
Thus we shall go where’er He goes
Before the King we march ahead
And cross the Jordan’s riverbed
To take possession of the land
He pledged to us with upraised hand
Before the King we bravely fight
Defending what is true and right
Whate’er the risks, despite the odds
We wage a war ‘gainst Caanan’s gods
Before the King we serve and stand
To do whate’er He shall command
To learn His wisdom, sing His praise
And glory in His wondrous ways
Before the King we shall rejoice
So glad to hear His mighty voice
So humbled that for us He cares
Our troubles and concerns He shares
Before the King we shout His fame
Our victory is in His Name
To every nation we shall tell
There is a King in Israel
Before the King a river flows
Which sends forth life where’er it goes
Before our King shall we abide
By Him forever satisfied

Like a calm lake with no concaves of current or whirlpool,
Like valleys and landscapes unaffected by hurricanes;
Like a spiritual shrine wherein minds and hearts feel cool,
There are places and psychic states of mind with no stress strains...!
Peace, like a still river flows; the breeze of calmness prevails;
Volcanoes of violence are endlessly extinguished;
Calmness, through the seas of humanitarianism, sails,
Love, joy, forbearance, kindness, and goodness are distinguished...!
Anxieties and pessimisms and worries are erased,
Emotional poise, happiness, and confidence upraised;
Fondness, friendliness, humanity, and bliss are well-placed,
The concept - the globe as a single family - is praised...!
Health of spirit and soul and mind and body flourishes,
Tranquility, like divinity, freedom nourishes...!!!

Lucky lovely elephant with a tuft of green
Created by a master artisan, that is easily seen.
With trunk upraised, in the luckiest of elephant ways.
We congregate around him, to give him some praise.
His décor is lovely, his metallic finish is a treat.
He is the utmost beautiful elephant on Rochester Street.
We follow him around, fawning over him, giving him our best.
He finally asks for some privacy, so he can get some rest.

A curious thing,
seven pounds of primero prime rib
materialized in my freezer.
Mouth-teasing saliva reached a high-waterline
just below upraised quizzical eyebrows.
I thanked the beefy butcher
who had dumped out the frozen turkey
in order to make room
for this massive joint of protein perfection.
Did I mistake reality again?
Did the meds confuse my mind’s eye?
I had to check.
Opening the white door
I saw the lumpy turkey still there
and not a hint of delicious steak.
I just hope the turkey ate it.

On temple mount Jesus went to battle
with those who were selling sheep and cattle.
With corruption about,
he drove them all out –
the coins of dealers on stones did rattle.
Indignant the Jews asked for a sign.
“Destroy this temple and its holy shrine
and within three days
another I'll raise.”
His body upraised did confirm that sign.
John 2.13-22

March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb
— English proverb
Any sign of Spring makes me sigh
— Kim Rodrigues
OUT LIKE A LAMB
pink petals of confetti throng
the Spring tree eulogizing Fall.
snowy buds cling like upraised songs.
March first bleating breaks down the wall
of incessant roaring rainstorms.
the keyboard-roof is fighting back,
the lion napping, seeds perform.
Daffodils give Winter the sack.

A man sets out to ply his trade
He's anxious: Will he make the grade
He knows there is a lot to learn
Yet money also must be earned
His life's adventure, to be played
Into the marketplace he wades
He thrusts his blade into the fray
A butcher, he, with strength to burn
To ply his trade
He slices true, his knife upraised
Each cut of meat with care is weighed
His customers do soon discern
This butcher is a man who's yearned
For livelihood that's honest-made
To ply his trade
(Iambic Tetrameter)

Terrified, the little girl cries
until her grandmother turns wise,
“All God’s creatures want to survive.
I know you love your small garden.
Now watch these workers work magic”
Those stallions with stingers, hover,
tantalizingly tease petals
of the roaring dandelions.
Those golden gals honey’d sunshine,
with fair upturned, xanthous faces.
Not to be outbuzzed, the blush rose,
her loving cup with upraised hands.
“Drink deeply, my love, my nectar
pleasing to my lord. Drink deeply.”
The succulent sensation sates.
“Well, child, a life without seeds won’t
succeed. Pollination is key.
Those bonnie buttercups happy
to see their buzzing friends come by.
Be patient, Daisy, he’s landing.”

The dog slinks past me
a plea in its eye
bowed head upraised
barely
Turning toward me
piteously --
Snap!
its collar is yanked back
by its imperious master
Plea denied

Dawn is upraised
Fierce in disguise--
Then you are dazed
By her rising at length—
Once you have gazed
Straight in her eyes,
Never be fazed
By her beauty and strength.

Trotter's words are his deeds
girding the Earth
in great magnetic lines
of universal intent.
In Ward's ritually upraised palm
we see the symbol Coriolis
south draining left
north draining right
Into the realm of Neptune
via the cisterns of Rome
down the ancient river Po
to wicked storms at sea
Into vortices the poet's passport
falls as a man overboard
all its pages torn
one by one.

Spring’s Salute
Somewhere
beneath the icy crust
a diamond awaits.
The laboring March sun
thins the crust
a layer at a time
sharpening
the edges
of crystal facets
unveiling
the faded sparkle
of old smiles.
April winds
waft earthen scent
of joy
summon
the hope
of passing clouds
sprinkling color
across diamond’s
green.
Silence lifts
upraised on shouts
of Spring
soft soil
awaits the touch
of happy feet
flags bask
slow dancing
in the sun
salute Spring’s
halcyon call

Sun ray
Time is n't with me again and again
Becalm till dawn; I can't say
There is dim hope of sun ray
Quivering earth jarred me everyday
Becalm till dawn i can't say
thunderbolt upraised with lightening
Blemished castles made everyone panicking
Can't allocate anything countless
Aches., clamor collectively odious
womb of mothers with departed fetus
puddles of lake over bloomed lotus
lap of mother got barren
debiting successor adhering lone
no tears, only vacuum, nowhere to stay
becalm..., till morning i can't say
