Premium MemberBe of Few Words

With her nose in a thesaurus daily
she accumulated a vocabulary
bachelors found extraordinary.
The result was unsurprisingly typical:
Not one date and not one proposal.
(Ladies, be of few words and cautious,
no man wants to bed with a thesaurus.)

NOTE:THIS IS AN OPEN(organic) FORM VERSE using spaces&breaks without grammatical symbols ,the ' open' relies upon 'the one breath limitation' & so inherently requires the 'reader' (reciter) to input and responds thus making this enigmatic form a two way interplay & interpretatIon unique to the moment& changing according to mood is inherently variable.

An impish doppelganger, Bea
liked nothing more than to run free
	strange feelings she shook
        turned around to look.
It unsurprisingly was she!

You Left Us Today
     by Bob Moore © 2018

You left us today
and quietly walked away
there was no more to say
you left us today

In the void you left behind
each deep within their own mind
had memories holding sway
you left us today

But we know you are not gone
and your memory still lives on
you are with us when we pray
you left us today

Now we are here, and left behind
but unsurprisingly we find
that deep within our hearts you’ll stay
and never really go away

Premium MemberThey Sit In Judgement

Some may think they’re an aficionado
but do they hold a poetry degree
They sit on their high horse with bravado
it’s from there that they cast judgement on me

I have seen some dish out trophy places
which unsurprisingly go to their friends
Such blatant favoritism disgraces
and deters others picking up their pens

Not all of the sponsors are impartial
sadly some can’t write the forms that they set
They judge poems and not a court martial
so will I enter their contests – you bet!

I consider John’s a discerning judge …
Will I get first place if he’s bribed with fudge?

A somewhat tongue in cheek poem for

Clovelly To Sunny Cove

Having left the company
of surprisingly easy difficulties,
I had dismayed at the fools,
eased through the shallows
and been thoughtfully left behind.
Having done with the fools
and the shallows
and the thoughtful leaving behind,
I returned to the company
of unsurprisingly difficult faces
in a place I knew to look.
I reconciled to the judges.
They would not reconcile to me.
This is the truth of kin,
I at once told myself,
but some kin are better pleased,
thank God one of them
was better pleased,
and thank God - God forgive me ! -
the last was not there at all !
I hurriedly turned to leave
(one out of three would do).
Did I return to the shallows
or vanish into the deep ?

An ingenious man from Blackheath

Who rode his luck from up and beneath

Once had been a boy scout

Never once left home without

But when he checked found a hole in the sheath

He though had prepared for bad luck

Velvet sheets beckoned a tuck

Retrieved some bicycle lube

While he sat on the tube

Pouched his wet lips for a repair suck

Because of sensual addiction

And to enjoy coming friction

Chose from puncture repair kit

To mend the small condom split

Afraid of his lover’s eviction

To circumvent premature detection

Not to eschew passionate affection

He put the patch on the inside

Small draw back for delight

No chance now for any defection

But when crescendo’s climax had ceased

And his virile manhood had eased

Emery powdered paper

Had turned into a scraper

Unsurprisingly he was not too pleased

"i carry your heart with me( i carry it in my heart) i am never without it (anywhere I go you go..."
                                                    e.e. cummings

       Unsurprisingly, she's the apple
of her parents' eyes. The depth
of their love for her as deep
             as the deepest ocean.

      She gets an unfettered amount
      of attention from Mom and Dad;
      smothered with hugs and kisses
           morning, noon and night.

She gets almost all she wants, and
she's treated like the rarest of gems
For she's all they have and will...
ever have. She's a "miracle baby"

Premium MemberShe Was a Lego Queen

She was a lego queen.
A future engineer.
Building stealthily and smartly,
a quick minded girl.
Six-years-old, and swore her
parents would not buy her legos
because she is a girl.
I watched her build a house,
intelligently and quickly, smartly.
She is the only child I have seen
out of hundreds of children, builders
aged 8 and 9 even, who figured out
how to add the windows which I had been
told by many other children did not fit.
I reached for the phone after she
left, to call her mother, and ask if I might
buy her legos. The phone was disconnected,
not unexpected, just unsurprisingly still sad.

Great White Buffalo

The one that got away
A girl who turned heads anywhere
Oh how I wish she would stay
As all could see we were the perfect pair

Sadly though she left without chase
And I could only watch perfection go
Mourning to see her flawless face
Combined with her natural glow

Reality struck me down like a hurricane
My perfect girl had up and gone
Feeling like a weak link of a chain
A game of chess a helpless pawn

Yet I still tried to keep in touch
With hope things would turn around
But sometimes you can do too much
Just keep your feet planted on the ground

Unsurprisingly the turn around did not prevail
My great white buffalo was gone for good
I became a sailboat with no wind to sail
And I prepared myself the best I could

Although life moves on I never will
So hopefully I'll see her again one day
For now though there's room to fill
Because she was the one that got away
