Some may think they’re an aficionado but do they hold a poetry degree They sit on their high horse with bravado it’s from there that they cast judgement on me I have seen some dish out trophy places which unsurprisingly go to their friends Such blatant favoritism disgraces and deters others picking up their pens Not all of the sponsors are impartial sadly some can’t write the forms that they set They judge poems and not a court martial so will I enter their contests – you bet! I consider John’s a discerning judge … Will I get first place if he’s bribed with fudge? A somewhat tongue in cheek poem for JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE Poetry Contest Sponsored by John Lawless 05/04/21

A fine humorous write Jan… “A little bit of fudge can hold some sway That’s if one can bear to give it away.” ~ Belle :-)

Good one Jan, I think one or two will be squirming reading this, you certainly opened my eyes to the dark side of soup. Good luck in the contest. Had second jab today, so far no side effects, still only got one head lol. Hope you're well. Tom

Somewhat tongue in cheek but I've been here long enough to see how some sponsors choose the winners. So glad they stopped names on entries some years ago that was just ridiculous lol:-) wish the contests had generic titles with our own unique title but of couse its easy to see who wrote what anyway . Hope you have no side effects I am still getting terrible tiredness from mine xx

You dissected the idea of judging very well I am careful which sponsors I choose. Doesn't mean I have ever won outright. Hugs

Bravo, Jan! Great contest entry... By the way, do you remember that kindergarden poem? -- Milk, milk lemonade; round the corner, fudge is made. (If not, use your imagination). lol. Cheers, gw

Kudos Jan, tongue in cheek probably, truthful absolutely, the contests are definitely tricky, some forms are totally alien, and unenjoyable to write, so I usually put my own spin on them, and hope for the best, Brilliant brilliant writing cheers David

Thanks Ilene in the time I've been on soup i think I've seen it all - the best one is the sponsor who has fake accounts or ghosts writes and enters their own contests - a few years back i caught the sponsor and another name posting the very same poem one above the other and neither could explain it lol. Hugs jan xx
