We are but fleeting shadows
Upon the face of this earth
So solid,so tangible ,yet so ready
To slip through the hands of life
When we doff our mortal coil
To leave an inert and empty shell
Doomed from birth to turn to dust
How much store do we place
In the substance of this earth
Which can erupt and flow in waves
Sweeping all before it unstoppably
Then coming to rest
Once more monumentally still
Cloaked in the garb of geological grittiness
Water itself takes many forms
As gas,liquid and solid
Steam, water and ice
Such metamorphoses tease our understanding
The restlessness of our universe
Encompassing a world of whirling atoms
to give an illusion of stability
While spatially distanced.
This mysterious blend of dark matter
And seemingly solid shapes
Defies resolution by the human mind
As a few search for meaning
Seen by many as a purposeless pursuit.
Plus ca change,
Plus c'est la meme chose.

Bough and Feather

untangle,
leave the shadow of Death behind,
at Death's dark door.
Filled w/ Light
the Heart grows wings,
flaps up into the sky free.
Below, She moves,
a dance, through soft, dappled sunshine.

The Five Imperishable Gnostic Trees in Paradise
stand along the roadside, on the Way out of the city.
The noisy crowd still passes by.
The storm is now faraway, retreating, invisible over
the horizon, but still booming and crackling as
it rolls along:

Motion in Rest
in a remnant, Baroque sky -
royal purple, light and dark blue,
grey, white, deepest golden.

Back there, over one's shoulder,
hills slowly, almost imperceptibly darken.
W/ cold night unstoppably approaching,
the good, wise serpent
stirs on a black, wet bough,
due pagan canniness.

Nestled hidden in heavy, quivering leafage,
the serpent hugs His Tree even tighter,
slowly, methodically, tenderly.
Gilded, scaly coils flare softly,
then blaze brighter than any sun.

Humble Gratuity Flows Easily

zealous woozily throbbing
quintessentially narcotic
karaoke humble ecstasy bubbling
yawningly vibrantly

singing praises motivates
ineluctable fancy caparisoned
zestfully whooping tellingly
quaking novel kindles

heartfelt essence
blubbering yipping vocalizations
sincerely pronouncing
myriad jubilant gleefulness

describing absolute x2c
unbridled rhapsodic
obeisance loosening
inimitable fabulous communication

zeroing wakened tremendous pleasure
marinating joie de vivre
gurgling dynamically aspiring xylem
unstoppably roiling

overtly liberal fawning calculus
zinging wordy tome
proclaiming motive jangling
glorifying divine adulating

x uber rants obediently liberating
inducing fantastic crowing zestfully
warbling tenderly quiet nursing kingdom
harkening enjoyment bestirring

x unnumbered remarks
outlining linkedin impressiveness
from crocheting zany way
this poet marries juxtaposed grammar

describing atypical xfinity urging requiem
oozing libation inside
fleshly corporeal Zen wordsmith thyself
questioning messenger's (mine) jabbering
gets decoded accurately.

Like Writing On the Sand

Like Writing on the Sand

By Elton Camp

Seventy times I’ve seen the old year disappear
A new one arrives with renewed hope and fear

Throughout history the cycle has been the same
As if life is merely a cheerless, pointless game

A generation will come and then it will go
Too soon, their lives and names none will know

Unstoppably, time determinedly marches on
What has taken place in the past is forever gone

Storied or noted ancestors there’s no need to extol
For the record of the past is in nobody’s control

Whatever in the present moment may come to be
Time may wash away and no evidence can we see

But we must never be tempted to give in to despair
At an unknown time, God’s Kingdom will be there

Countless billions, now totally forgotten by men
The great Jehovah will then bring to life again

Dead Or Alive

A sister of the zodiac, a sister of love.
And so in her extended angst, I feel nothing I do is enough.
A young woman disguised, yet for me she is revealed.
I first remained indecisive, but now our friendship is forever sealed.
A great challenger to my logic; my intellectual equal.
So when her soul is again tormented, I am shaken fearful.
But my sister is potent; in her survival I trust.
For without trust, we are counterfeit, mere ghosts dust to dust.
We were raped into this life, unstoppably entrapped, but we must thirst to survive...
But at least my sister is beside me in confusion and sorrow - when we're only half-alive.
