SNAIL MAIL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Young Stu, with his shell brown and bold,
From the forest post office, he slowly strolled.
With letters packed on his back galore,
With slime as his tires, he slowly went to each door,
"Your snail mail's arrived!" he extolled.
“You fool! Haven’t you heard of email?” badger exclaimed
“Of all your slowness, you should be ashamed.
“With the click of a mouse
You no longer deliver from house to house.”
“But, but…I’ll lose my job,” Stu proclaimed.
“Oh, Stu, you’re so uninformed, so old school.
Your skill set you must totally retool!
Have you not heard of UPS or perhaps FedEx?
You can deliver packages and other objects!
“But snails don’t drive. You’re such a fool!”
“Besides, I’m looking forward to my postal pension
Not to mention days without strife and tension.
And all those Forever Stamps I’ve amassed
I’ll sell online or on my webcast.
Then with Musk I’ll travel to space, otherworldly dimensions.”
Their love of our fear will be starved
We will transcend their want of our complacency
We have a need to be unified
All we must do is broaden our definition of acceptance
It is not our desire to stay uninformed for long
Nor to willingly stay blind to our path
No sides of any faction deserves our shadowed devotion
There needs to be a light to the people that sets us free from all tyranny
Choosing a genuine leader
Is a dauntingly difficult task
To constitutionally ask
Uninformed voters
To vote their conscience.
Such a practice defies science
And natural common sense.
That too many followers lack
And where criminals hack
The convoluted system
With a simple leaf
Of a fragile stem.
It is hard to catch the thief
The convicted felon, the liar or the backstabber
Who lies like a hot fryer.
It not easy to choose a leader
Who can only win the pot, but
Can lead, without being the butt
Of all hard-working comedians.
Do not shoot the native Indians
They have nothing to do with this turmoil
Which is ravaging the nature of this soil.
Do not kill the good aliens
For no reasons, for excuses
Nobody will believe the ruses.
A real leader is not a tyrant
Who can only talk rubbish or rant.
Choosing a great leader is not easy
The voters must not be delusional and crazy
Money can buy privilege and power
But it cannot buy greatness and candor.
#2 Rumi Quote:
If you are irritated by every rub,
How will your mirror be polished?
________________________________________
Be not perturbed when life presents hurdles,
Nothing worthwhile comes sans struggle;
Do not tag every challenge unjust or unfair,
Blemish on your mirror, not a reason to despair.
Read not a rub, always, as a rub of critique,
If it’s uninformed, there isn’t much to heed;
Stay the course, amity speaks for your deeds,
Judge not harshly when repentance pleads.
Endeavor mindfully, to learn from mistakes,
Sow in every failure, seeds of sweet success,
Find your happiness on other side of regrets,
Be not irritated by life’s every give-and-take.
Reject ego and pride; introspect, reflect,
Mend your ways, adapt to realms of change,
Look in the mirror, measure your progress:
Is your today, better than your yesterday?
To uninformed ears
The best of pen plain appears,
To him who can’t see,
A cross-eyed girl is beauty,
To hard to hear, jeers are cheers.
We preached passivity with violence
While spewing raucous vitriol
Offered all inclusion
Beneath a tie-dyed flag
Whispered to the innocent
Of the evil’s oh so near
Supported certain candidates
Just to get their ear
Taught kids how to rant and chant
Not how to understand
Promised them the everything
Of the nothing in our hand
Then promised them at bedtime
There’s a god that has a plan
We wished to keep them mindless
Thoughtless and uninformed
To cherish being average
And well within the norm
Finally, convince them
To fit in they must conform
Although uninformed of
Lost Hope's whereabouts
Friendless, I am its friend.
And its comforter.
Seen, heard, through that numb window's
Fawn in snow approach.
Gentle-eyed; gentle-toed.
Closer and closer.
The witch with pizzazz had her chunky legs on display.
Showing off her striped socks and pantaloons to many today.
Why does she sit like that? A younger uninformed lad said.
She is an older witch whose fashion sense curls up in her head.
The witch with pizzazz had a laugh that made us all think.
She was delectable and delightful, like a clean kitchen sink.
She roared to earth pushing her legs against the night air.
We saw that she dressed with absolute infamous care.
Fear is humanity's worst flaw.
Craziness is a well-known human trait.
If you meet an idiot, act dumb.
If you're clever, don't fight them.
I saw someone afflicted by his wisdom.
Uninformed people are hopeless.
Joy is the pinnacle of prosperity.
I could only support her.
Nobody saw me hit their door.
I never saw him crazy.
You can grow affluent without burning cash.
You have influence.
And as I grow old, don’t think I am not reminded!
Nor told with joy, “hey, your brain is so “lop-sided?”
How I howl,at their uninformed pride and scorn!
As I see each of them, get older each morn!
I think of the old ones,dead in the streets of Ukrania.
As hungry dogs eat their feet with dog-mania.
Are younger humans any different than they?
Destroying the old, by words they say?
Call it as it is!
Not mistaken.
Not uninformed –
They just don't care!
Death in record numbers
at our Southern Border;
Death in the streets
of large cities from
Fentanyl...They just
don't care! Mask-less
getting her hair done;
at the seaside with
his obedient dog, steak
for him and Kibbles
for the population. She
parties in Florida,
while the streets of New
York are rapidly becoming
an uninhabitable sewer –
Even pigeons, rats and
roaches objecting to
piles of feces on sidewalks,
along curbs, obstructing
their normal foraging, healthier
diets of tossed pizza, bagels
and imported lox – They just don't
care! Using God and religion
as a prop, to control the naive
masses, while they get richer,
sitting ever higher on their
imagined Royal Asses. Already
card-caring Mammon's. They
just don't care! Obsessed
with Pursuit-of-power –
badly in need of a soul-cleansing
shower – the Devil Delighted,
fiery-plans for each selfish-hide --
advance reservations on a
Subterranean Ride –
Mom: “Hey hun, what’s up?”
Me: “Well, let’s see..
“We have an armed law enforcement that’s scared of the civilians they police.
One political party so corrupt it’s no longer interested in serving the people.
Half the population ignores the one real power mankind has - science.
Hackers shutting down pipelines, schools, hospitals and companies.
News networks that are allowed to just make up lies as “news”.
Half the population that’s determined to be uninformed.
Social media is destroying the minds of our children.
A political party that encourages its followers to die.
A world that’s quickly poisoning itself to extinction.
Religions that endorse obvious liars and guns.
An economy that depends on our self doubt.
Foreign enemies manipulating our elections.
A supply system on the verge of collapse.
A party encouraging resurgent racism.
A badly neglected infrastructure.
Inflation starting to heat up.
A near endless pandemic.
And a rape culture.”
Mom: after a moment of silence
“Have you been reading the news again? You KNOW you tend to obsess.”
We take a lot of decisions daily.
Some bring happy results and we feel charmed;
Some decisions do fail makes us distressed;
These bad decisions really suggest
causes, once we analyse, uninformed
facts come up; those needs to be seen plainly.
That process of unearthing makes one rich
in experience; as one grows with lot
of practices, good judgment does follow.
In life, successful persons have followed
learning from mistakes, lessons not forgot.
Attain success walking on learning bridge.
Mistake are lessons in disguise, foretell
so that history doesn't repeat itself.
Scupham sonnet : Peter Scupham likes abccba stanzas.
Two of these plus a rhyming couplet make something very
like a sonnet. This is not a “proper” sonnet, strictly speaking.
