Thoroughly Modern Grandmas

Though still as loving, still as kind and gentle, still as beautiful as they were in days of yore…
today’s grandmas are a different breed than the grandmas who came before.

Although they still share some similarities…the love they freely give…that twinkle in their eye…
the ways we use to think of grandmas…those old cliches…

And in a pinch reluctantly talk to yours truly,

Such pipedream regarding
winning bucket loads of cash,
would make monetary woes
in an instantaneous flash
mine dentures no longer
will futilely grind and gnash,
cuz I would undergo oral surgery
and simultaneously acquire

mush sought after gumption,
where dental implants
could offer million dollar smile
mastication boring full force
while I monstrously, yet easily mash
the most unpalatable pop slop
made with tender loving care
courtesy the missus.

It’s hard to be a monster
Living in a modern world.
I’ve only got claws, not fingers,
And can’t even unlock my phone…

An Apple is no longer something to munch
And Orange turned into Everything Everywhere.
I now can’t eat runners for lunch
As I can’t even bite through their lycra!

Those past discouragements
