I have seen
his face
in New York City.
I have heard
his voice
in Europe.
He speaks
of love.
Yet practices
division.
He speaks
of human rights.
Yet strips others
of their humanity.
He speaks
of peace.
Yet profits
from war.
He sends armies.
He sends weapons.
And calls it
freedom.
He forces
democracy
upon others.
Yet rules
through fear,
power,
and obedience.
He pretends
to be a thinker.
Yet borrows
the wisdom
of others
and calls it
his own.
He speaks
of spirituality.
Yet worships
power.
Morning and night.
He preaches
virtue.
Yet walks
with hypocrisy.
His words
shine like gold.
But his deeds
cast shadows.
Then I walked
through the streets
of America.
And there
I met him again.
Smiling.
Confident
Speaking
with a forked tongue.
Promising hope.
Selling illusion.
Some say,
he will change.
But history
whispers otherwise.
For the devil
has always worn
many faces.
And the greatest trick
is not deception.
It is convincing
the world
that deception
is truth.
The devil
is a liar.
And sometimes
he walks
among us
wearing the mask
of virtue.
In shadowed streets where neon dies,
A boy was born with fire in his eyes.
No father’s love, no guiding hand,
The city taught him to take, command.
Friends whispered lies, “Be bold, be feared,”
“Power is earned when mercy’s cleared.”
He learned to fight, to steal, to kill,
To climb the ladder, sharpen skill.
One fateful night, a test was laid,
A heinous act that darkly swayed.
His hands obeyed, his heart turned numb,
The devil’s game had now begun.
The victim’s face, familiar, bright,
Revealed a truth that stole the night.
His mother lost, the horror burned,
The price of sin so cruelly learned.
The gang dispersed, the streets went still,
His soul was shattered, dark and chill.
Power and fame proved hollow, vain,
The devil dances, leaving pain.
Now warnings echo through the years,
Beware the shadows, the whispered fears.
One wrong step, and you will see,
The cost of pride, eternally.
I look into the face of the devil.
You tried to destroy,
My heart and soul,
But I have a burning ,
Inside my soul that will not die.
I smile at the devil,
I glare at him as he shows fear.
I see your soldiers, they are weak.
I protect the sick, the disabled,
And the children.
Excalibur will pierce your heart,
I will not back down,
I have the God's on my side.
The fever climbs,
my breath grows thin,
I feel the dark
come creeping in.
I hear the scrape
of hooves and flame.
He whispers low
and calls my name.
I beg him, "Wait...
don't take me yet."
There's truth I've kept
the world won't get.
For every face
I lured with lies,
dimming every spark
behind their eyes.
I chased that thrill,
that perfect pull,
the way their fear
could make me full.
They followed me
so soft, so blind,
as obsession fed
my hollow mind.
I kept my tracks
so neat, so clean.
No trace of me
was ever seen.
No prints, no proof,
no witness near,
A killer who slipped away
year after year.
The hunt was sweet,
the silence, too,
the world stayed dark,
the leads stayed few.
But now I choke
on every choice.
The devil laughs
to hear my voice.
He says my soul
is marked and claimed,
that hell already
knows my name.
I feel the truth
begin to swell:
I carved my path
straight into hell.
So take me now,
I've played my part.
Obsession was
my dying heart.
It’s the devil
By: Nix
Pointing to the cracks
And all that we lack.
It crows out a dark laugh
Cutting one in half
The red slash taunting
No,
It’s not daunting?
Why do they smile at us?
When all we do is fuss
all of them– they're the same
Crying wolf–
We–
we are to blame
Dolling up,
as if it wasn’t
Mucked-up
But of course
the facade must stay
After all—
We wouldn’t want to stray.
Suck me dry
And watch me fester
Light the church a blaze
And breath into the stench of charring flesh
Watch my hazy eyes turn dull
And let my cheeks turn gray
Carve the cross into my flesh
And accept the blood that weeps
Hear my cries of distress
And convince yourself it's the devil burrowing in.
There isn't much more for me here
Except a tempting dare.
From the prince of evil himself.
Angel on my shoulder, devil in my mind
whispers to be good, my thoughts decline.
The Good Book says not to sin
but can't help it when those thoughts begin.
Beauty to the beholder indeed
thoughts of her beauty rapture within me
That lovely pretty face and body with curves
way her parts wiggle while walking, such nerve.
Every true boy and red blooded man
thinking those thoughts that nature planned
Your heart skips a beat while eyes stare
Poor Angels warning you just can't hear.
Devil is smiling this battle he wins
for the love struck guy thinks only of sin.
Angel on my shoulder flies away
for in your arms my lovely, the Devil will play.
All this pain
Can't escape my brain
It's taken control
Eating out at my soul
I think I've become the devil
Who has ever reached this level?
My feelings, confused
In disarray, with chaos fused
Leave me alone
With the battles I've fought
The monsters I've grown
Are stronger than thought
Hope? No - This is no way to cope
Peace? Slain - it festers as disease
Faith? Lost and burried I would saith
Strong? This is where you're in the wrong
I'm no longer me
This is the devil speaking
You don't want to see
Be careful what you're seeking
Every day burns, a living hell
Good and bad blurred - I no longer dwell
No fence to sit, no soul left to defend
My truth is the devil’s, and this is the end.
Another performance- I pick up my guitar real slow.
Spotlights drowning faces, feeling the energy grow.
A belly full of whiskey an empty bottle of rye.
A thousand voices in a raising roar, waiting to see me fly.
The band kicks in, the walls start to shake.
Words leave my mouth like a beautiful mistake.
My guitar is on fire, electric fever running through my veins.
Hello, old friend, we dance in flames.
My music is intoxicating. The stage is a blaze.
Tearing up the script, burning the words on the page.
You sing my anthem but don't see me.
A contract signed in blood wanting to be free.
I am fighting my demons, trying to walk the line.
Break free from the darkness clouding my mind.
Gonna free myself from the belly of the beast.
Save myself from temptation's feast.
On stage I'm a serpent in the flashing light.
I weave my spell night after night.
Made a deal with the devil but I've served him way too long.
Laid my crown in the dirt where it don't belong.
Redemption is a hard road for a sinner like me...
Gonna break these chains Gonna set myself free...gonna set myself free.
When I stopped
taking Sertraline
again,
I felt too much
all at once
including
a cacophony
of anxiety
I hate to acknowledge
that even I
need a little help
to get by
I didn’t choose my mind
in the lottery of life
I decide what I put
In my body,
everyday
grapefruit juice
for health,
avocados
because
I love
their shade
of green,
and meat
because
I crave
meat
what I choose
to put in my mouth
directly affects
everything
all my little,
daily outcomes
don’t seduce me
as much as you,
sexy Devil
little pills can do so much
I don’t want
to tap dance with the Devil
when I should be sleeping
The idea of an army will come together in light,
at some point in the future when we come together to fight.
The Devil is your ego so real or not,
it hurries around speaking its thought.
Thoughts are real, but the devil is not?
Trust me I've killed it banished it's thought.
I've caged it and keep eye on my thought.
As I fear others may try to untie the knot.
For the battle that must be fought
Is the battle inside with ones thought.
As we gather in light of a heaven of truth.
The devil will show his transgression as proof.
Upon defeating the devil within himself.
He couldn't help but see the devil all around.
Perhaps the devil is here nor there but everywhere.
Just like god speaks to us clear
the devil searches for something to mirror.
Remember the past when you couldn't write.
How about when you lost every fight?
Oh but devil I don't listen to you now.
The future is clear you probably wonder how?
Every time you remind me of a time from before,
I remind myself, I have already closed that door.
I focus on what is before me,
and throw away the key
For there is no past to return to
Just a future to look forward to.
I don’t know
If I am dancing with the devil.
It feels so right and so wrong,
so good, and so strong.
I feel all of it
at the same time.
Does that mean something?
Am I missing something?
Is it wrong
because it’s good?
Or am I just dancing with the devil?
The rain splatters a wash
on my old-ass car,
and offers pathetic cleansing.
Clean my memory,
while you are at it,
hard and busy, rain.
I’m dancing with the Devil.
the aliens arrived in mid-July
this planet is like Mars, we are going to die!
the sidewalk is full of sizzling frying eggs
there is nothing any of us keep on our legs
we melt into hot puddles as we run to our car
this place is Hades, the aliens scream from afar
for they have taken off in their spaceship
Determined to never return to this planet on another trip
the dogs are reluctant to go outside to do their biz.
Some have marked up our carpeting with all kinds of whizz.
the cats have moved away from their nests near glass windows.
the garden is untended, littered by abandoned hoes.
we can go outside until about seven o’clock a.m.
After that, we stumble about, on fire, earth is condemned.
The devil must be here, because I think a pitchfork I see.
No wait, it’s just a forest on fire, started by one burning tree.
