through my telescope I spy teepees
bonfires
Watusi dancers
a wrecked plane
hostages
pirates
witches
angels
faeries
stories march in and out of my mind
I cannot slow them down or stop them
I am a writer

In every life, now and after, I would choose you, and look for your laughter, even if we will never be together, I’d still choose you, always and forever, if I had nine lives, I’d spend all nine with you, and I’d give you one if you needed me too,
words still can’t describe what you mean to me, but if I had to say one, I’d start with destiny, and I’d finish it with the term, meant to be,
I believe that’s what we are, a telescope always admires the moon from afar,
and if I can’t be close, a mountain is where I’ll go, I’d set down my telescope, and I would watch everything you do, because a telescope means nothing without the moon,

We're all searching for eternity —
To, in holy book or telescope, someday see
A version of everlasting me
Hanging in the heavens of some infinity.
That we can with, in spite of, or through
A hand of god, philosophy, or science, imbue
Meaning or truth to take us beyond
This pale, blue dot we now find ourselves upon.

Microbes surround us
too tiny to see
On ocean floors
fish thrive incredibly
Out in the cosmos
galaxies unending
Past the ‘Great Beyond’
Time’s even bending
‘Course, our kids keep saying
“Nowhere to go, nothing to do”
So tonight I told them
“Here’s what for you"
A microscope for
the ‘miniverse’ you can’t ignore
A telescope for
the 'maxiverse' you’ll want to explore
Marvel at the lives of the infinitesimal

Beyond a telescope lies a million mysteries.
There is space, a vacuum, filled with solar systems,
And the most beautiful planets orbiting amidst the stars.
Beyond a telescope there are comets which fly by as if they had wings.
There are asteroids which can be fascinating, yet deadly,
And there are puzzles waiting to be discovered.
Beyond a telescope are the galaxies that could nourish life.
There are spaceships searching for entities or beings to prove we are not alone,
Looking for even the smallest sign.
Beyond a telescope there is a cold darkness.
There are unknown and uncalculated risks,
And even petrifying thoughts.
Beyond a telescope lies the knowledge for tomorrow.
There are supernatural encounters,
And boundless new opportunities.
Beyond a telescope lies the answers no one asks.
There are the investigations no one seeks,
And the unanswerable inquiries.

Where the stars are born in a cosmic cloud,
There's searing heat in the coldness of space.
The sight of each star, just one of a crowd,
Adds to the presence of Heaven's good grace.
Distant, but clear, as it crosses the void,
It comes into being just like the sun.
We think of the White Dwarf, now long destroyed
And the life of the new, bright star begun.
Will it have planets like Venus and Mars,
Will it have oceans and wildlife and such?
We'll never see them among distant stars
Far from our sight, but it matters so much.
I'd love to see the new world far away
For it lives in my mind day after day.

View the planets and the stars
See the beauty that is Mars,
Look at the heavens in all its splendor
Observe the galaxies it may render
Distant stars in all their glory
As the universe tells its story,
Look at all of Saturn's rings,
And the many moons Jupiter brings
Distant galaxies all come into view
You may catch a glimpse of Neptune too
As you view the heavens from afar
And catch the twinkles of a star

Will event of creation be revealed
By the James Webb telescope
Concentrating time
Like a kaleidescope?
Galaxy after Galaxy
Slowly being revealed.
Will the moment of Creation
Always remain concealed?
Will we ever see the glory
Of the birth of timespace,
Can James Webb ever show us
Creation taking place
Or will that event remain
Tantalisingly out of sight
So no Theory of Creation
Can ever be proved right?
Is the James Webb Telescope
Just a step too far
Should we not accept
We are what we are.
Just because we can
Doesn’t alway mean we should
Maybe sometimes a mystery
Can be for the common good.
Should the thirst for knowledge
Remain achingly unsated
Do we really need to know
How such beauty was created?
Are we unique sentient beings
Set here to record and investigate
Or an accident of nature, by chance
Unable to accept our inevitable fate?
James Webb Telescope enables us
To less blindly search, to grope
Towards an understanding that may
Give our species future survival hope.

I
James Webb - wise investment by USA
After Hubble's wonders, now light
Billions of years, perhaps since Big Bang
Seen by humans; J. Biden's pride
In America's foresight, help folk, help science
When most nations notoriously lack basics
But not for want of money, mandacity there
Prayers here don't make muster (loadshedding)
But I'm grateful for Pics yet to be seen
I heard tidbits on the radio, long-expected blessing
James Webb telescope (God smiles?) 'midst ancient light
II
The long-awaited Hubble successor, James Webb Telescope, is off & running. USAmericans have a right to smile ... Yes, recession, depression & race & political oppression are all about us, but we can AND MUST DO MORE THAN ONE HUMAN PROJECT AT A TIME. amen

A bundle from the past -
the 1930’s and ‘40’s.
A wisp of his breath…I’m breathless.
Did he know his love story would last?
1941 envelope -
my fingers glide over the sleeve.
I tenderly take out the note,
the sweet poetry…telescope
peering into the days of yore.
Grandpa won his sweetheart with words:
“From a worthless bum,” a treasure,
Grandma and their progeny adore.
Love poems, other’s curious.
One bespeaks of “…is it murder
to help someone dying…in pain.
Contemplation or serious?
The carrier, my sister, brought
back from her travels photos, too.
…and I thought of my mother
her photo, now, an afterthought.
The sentiment held in my heart.
Illustrious words and still lifes
my mind ponders as I grow old.
‘Tis true, one day too, I’ll depart.
I’ll take my time reading the words -
I read some to my attentive spouse.
How lovely we shared that moment -
the nectar of two hummingbirds.

If you want to try looking smart
How about
Why don't you
Try removing the Lens Cap
And you may just see the light

I OPENED A GOLDEN DOOR
TO AN ENDLESS UNIVERSE.
IT KIND OF PULLED ME INWARD.
TO THE POINT I FELT DISBURSED.
UNIVERSAL ENERGY
COMBINATION MIND AND SOUL.
A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE
IMAGINATION IN CONTROL.
AN UNEXPLORED DIMENSION.
I ALWAYS KNEW TO EXIST.
MY CHANCE OF MOVING FORWARD.
I KNOWINGLY CAN'T RESIST.
A BEING IS APPROACHING.
WITH A WARM AND GENTLE SMILE.
THE DISTANCE IS IN LIGHT YEARS.
TRAVELING COULD TAKE AWHILE.
THIS NEW GUARDIAN ANGEL.
COMPLETELY ALL DRESSED IN WHITE.
SHOWED ME HOW TO TAKE A TOUR
SHOWCASING GLORIOUS SIGHTS.
WITH A GIANT TELESCOPE
OVER HUNDRED YARDS IN HEIGHT.
THAT IS FIFTY TIMES HIGHER
THAN MY SHADOW IN THE NIGHT.
THE LENS WAS REALLY SHINY.
UNBELIEVABLY IMPRESSED.
MAGNIFICENT CREATION.
CURIOSITY REFRESHED.
I WAS SO INTENSIFIED
IT JUST TOOK MY BREATH AWAY.
KNOWING IT WAS TIME TO LEAVE.
I JUST COULD NOT PULL AWAY.
IN THE FUTURE YOU WILL SEE.
INCREDIBLE TELESCOPE.
SHARING OPPORTUNITY
TO SEE WHAT WE ONLY HOPE.

It’s all written among the stars in the sky;
constellations tell the tales of old.
Gaseous nebulae reveal the magic of the cosmos;
as each planetary body spins to its own tune.
I once watched Saturn dancing through the heavens,
like a tiny toy top she whirled and spun;
elation filled my spirit at that moment
and I realized how alive space really is.
