Sunk Poems | Examples

All in self are sunk

Birds fruitless trees forsake,
Swans and cranes leave dried lake,
Courtesans scarce to wealth-less cling,
Counsellors leave a corrupt king,
Honey bees flee from lifeless flower,
Beasts forsake a forest on fire,
Motive-dunk men in self are sunk,
In this world, who to whom is dear?

if attributes of form
are diminished
will presence
not contract
and so seek
restoration of joy
enabled by aliveness
thus signalling bondage
to ephemerality of dreams
instead of imbibing the truth
bliss that does not come and go

Self appraising himself as a monk awake,
immune from life's outcomes, always elated,
he woke up one morning and began to shake,
quaking in fear, so had to be sedated.
No longer could he be placid like a lake,
for his feeble form's gender was rotated!
The roots of conditioning go in quite deep,
so it's best we assume nothing; let grace seep.

The rot has sunk in deep ~
tragic is our stupor,
trauma bonding with pain,
enslaved by dark desires,
cleansing not, our soul’s stain.

The rot has sunk in deep ~
we know not who we are,
yet seek not truth of life,
adrift thus rudderless,
engaged in needless strife.

The rot has sunk in deep ~
we’re in inner conflict,
head and heart misaligned,
deaf to voice of conscience,
soul’s to darkness consigned.

The rot has sunk in deep ~
scarred is heart’s innocence,
love suffused as a child,
now soiled by our ego,
plunged into tempests wild.

Notice our subtle resistance
Manifest as hesitancy
Mitigating exuberance
Our lower mind delinquency

Myriad illusions confound
Notice our subtle resistance
We are yet to mind-body bound
Recognising not divine dance

We first look to our convenience
Subject-object relationship
Notice our subtle resistance
Foolish game of one-upmanship

Oh hermit, know God alone is
Rekindle innate innocence
Imbibe elixir of bliss fizz
Notice our subtle resistance

Gender determined behavioural change
Looking at wayside beggars with disdain
Religious bias, our prejudice strange

Fairer skin colour, making us feel vain
The way we dress and speak, ego complex
Shifty eyes belie, that our heart is stained

Conflicting emotions, puzzle and vex
In truth we yearn for childlike innocence
This life game of pretence, leaves us perplexed

Let us rise hermit, from our fallen stance
Death will come one day, meanwhile let us dance

Religious sermons invoking deep fear
damage the fabric of gullible souls,
inducing deluded beliefs that sears,
labelling God as a revengeful ghoul;
far cry from touch of love, making us whole.
The rot of religion has sunk in deep.
The path is easy; preachers make it steep.
Reject, oh hermit, teachings that contract.
Gods love alone real and in all hearts seeps,
which purity of heart, gently attracts.

Deep in the crevice of your heart
where only darkness lives
is the stillborn that I long to rescue
something has to give

Waist-High Sunk

When you release the
words, your curled fingers
burst into flame.

It was an ancient filth,
a bird fighting in the mud-
house of quote-unquote.

Someone navigated
over the bald heads to find
a landing place for a cuckoo.

Between real and fiction,
you cannot write a hymn
in praise of satan, called god.

I am done with the darkness
all around, and rip open
the wall to let in the jupiter.

Sunk

Slowly, you falter; slowly you fall.
Slowly you're pulled; tugged, dragged.
Isn't there a build up?
A growth of emotion being hidden?
Hidden for some time now.

It's difficult to divulge; to show,
Isn't it?
Slowly, you falter; slowly you fall.
Slowly you're pulled; tugged, dragged.

Sunk.
