listen to the pause - silence is golden
A tribute to Erik Satie & his subspecies style
There was a zany, zesty Zebu that lived his
life with full of zest.
Out of the animals in the big wildlife reserve
he shined brighter than the rest.
He was never down with a big frown, he was
positive and enthusiastic,
So super uplifting that his positivity rubbed off
on all in his presence, his "go-to phrase was “
you’re fantastic!"
The zany, zestful Zebu from a wildlife reserve
in New Zealand isn’t gone.
Zachariah was his name; he was known for
his zestfulness and positivity, his memory
lives on.
* Zebu- The zebu, sometimes known in the plural as indicine
cattle or humped cattle, is a species or subspecies of domestic cattle originating in the Indian sub-continent.

I
In a land of crime, pets too are killed
A goose was struck by an upset Ouma
I saw it in a fenced yard, life bleeding ...
It came close to home, with Kuiken
II
Kuiken is Afrikaans for baby chicken
But my name for my pet is Kaalnek
Her variety, subspecies, unfeathered neck
She learned to sleep in trees, after month1
III
The next day, her freedom ended (by me)
Not cat food, victim of domesticated cats!
In her cage (hok) she recovers from a wound
That made me cringe: skin on head, out!
IV
No cat, dog, or combination got Kaalnek
She is with her half-brother now, 'locked'
Though more lives than cats, I dont exaggerate
But my hero and I will not tempt fate
Forever
Time is a word, without relevance or worth.
Conceived by mankind, a distance from birth.
If birth is the beginning, and death the end.
A concept of life, where souls never blend
So in (your) time, evolution takes place.
Subspecies continue, race after race,
Growing and learning, well so it seems.
Scheming, planning, following your dreams.
Ignoring the purpose, that creation intended.
Irreparable damage, never to be mended.
Tears from heaven cause rivers to rise.
Even this warning, can't make mankind wise.
So then the ground shakes, ashes fill the sky.
Still leaves them asking, still wondering why.
Without a response, So soon you shall know.
Creation will send, a massive, a final blow.
A guided hand, will reach past the stars.
Beyond your time, you can't fathom how far.
It's what you do, that may change your fate.
Only days from now, yes, It might be to late.
The Father and Mother weak from your years.
Giving their love, dealing with everlasting fears.
Will make you aware, of the reality of time.
That it only has value, if you don't open your eyes.

Scottish Wildcats are listed as, critically endangered
Once found throughout Britain, now only found in northwest Scotland
living in wooded areas, near the edges of forests and shrublands
and the Scottish Wildcat is a subspecies, of the European Wildcat
Domestic cats pose a great threat, for these Scottish Wildcats
as there are very few genetically pure populations left, of this Wildcat
and deforestation has left them confined, to the Scottish Highlands
and snares and traps are have accounted for many of their deaths
Iriomote Cats are listed as, critically endangered
They are only found on, the Japanese island of Iriomote
and they inhabit, subtropical forests that cover the island
and they are a subspecies of, the Asian Leopard Cats
Iriomote Cats hunt, amphibians, fish, birds and reptiles
using the genes of their ancestors, to swim and climb trees
and they cannot retract their claws, but they do attract those flees
Their biggest threat is from vehicles, that cause a fatal impact
Eastern Lowland Gorillas are listed as, critically endangered
They are the biggest subspecies, and are also known as Grau’s Gorilla
and they are found in Congo Basins, lowland tropical forests
but their territory has been halved, by human greed that deforests
They are most vulnerable, to human encroaching and poaching
that is even happening, in the Kahuzi-Beige National Park
Political instability and conflict, have left National Parks in neglect
and they need to eject, rebels, poachers and miners, out of their ballpark
Western Lowland Gorillas are listed as, critically endangered
and they are most numerous and widespread of all gorilla subspecies
They are found in the Congo Basin, that has been humanly disadvantaged
and they in habitat, the densest remote rainforests, for their securities
Western Lowland Gorillas, are slightly smaller than their cousins
and have a brown-grey colour, with an auburn chest that looks muscular
Significant populations exist, in isolated swamps and swampy forests
but large numbers have not protected, the Western Lowland Gorillas
Their threats are poaching and disease, strongly decimating their numbers
by more than sixty percent, in the last twenty to twenty-five years
and they are hunted for bush meat, and captured to become human pets
If all threats were removed, it will be 75 years for their numbers to improve
Sumatran Rhinos are listed as, critically endangered
and are now classified as, “functionally extinct”
as they are only seen in zoos, for their genes to be preserved
but the death of two subspecies, makes them so distinct
Sumatran Rhinos used to live, on Borneo and Sumatra islands
and are the smallest, of the living Asian Rhinos
These Rhinos have two horns, very unique to these hinterlands
and their long hair relates them to, the ancient Woolly Rhino
Poaching of Rhino horns, are sold on the black market
for medicine and ornaments, that makes them a big target
and the biggest markets, are in China and Vietnam
as the greed of money, is a worldwide human scam
Amur Leopards are listed as, critically endangered
They are a rare subspecies, living in nature’s extremities
in the Amur-Heilong mountains, with a Russian landlord
and their genetic variation, is the lowest of any subspecies
They can survive in temperate forests and mountain regions
keeping south of facing rocky slopes, to avoid too much snow
but they can’t avoid the conflict, off the human foundations
having to enter the human domain, to find food and grow
Amur leopards are poached, for its beautiful spotted fur
and their territory is surrounded, by villages and agriculture
The villagers hunt their pray, but their prey is in defer
as the greed of money, is now a human culture
Amur Leopards can only live, ten to fifteen years in the wild
and 25 years in captivity, which only makes them riled
Let’s give back their territory, to increase their mentors
and advance their history, for these amazing carnivores
Whether you are black, red, yellow or white,
all of us are all one and the same alike.
The concept of race has been disproved scientifically.
None of us are subspecies of the human specie,
as is evident for example with the cat family.
We have lions and tigers and leopards and cheetahs,
but a black man and a white man are not the same as a lion and a tiger
Both are the same specie, *****sapiens, making all lives matter.
We all need to start focusing on the fact that we are all connected genetically.
Scientifically speaking, we are all one big worldwide dysfunctional family,
literally, not figuratively.
At some point in our ancestral genetic history,
my ancestors met yours and proceeded to breed,
and their offspring met the offspring of everyone else,
bring the entire planet to its present intolerant mental health.
spring sprang
summer doldrums
have began and yet
from the bowels
of our basement
creeps a freak
a should be
a not wanna be
a subspecies
when winter
birds return
so should he
exit and breath
not the moldy
but at least see
the sun and feel
warmth for free
not to be
a household
burden worrisome
running under foot in fright
and god forbid he
ever finds the strike
anywhere anytime
matches
that were
left behind
When humans run from machine guns & famine, they morph into subspecies called refugees & aliens. They’re denied access, or caged & slapped by nations who flip pancakes for 24hrs & throw unsold sandwiches into trash bins. It’s amazing how silent the ticking clock is. Oh well. At least we finally know where Lebron’s going.

the human race
how many subspecies
do you know
orange sunsets
they were once all red
the status quo
housemartins... late
nesting on a window pane
swallows in the porch
dunnock feeding
on suet balls for the ****
goldfinch on niger
smooth newts... fifty plus
til the lawned was mowed
no pond for miles
facts of life
humans make them up
not natures ways
sun skipped the surface
light dancing on the waves
then came the trawlers
the sky ablaze
the sea reflecting fire
seagulls screaming
honey bees dying
mites and climate changing
stop pollution now
mountains moving
hot rocks cruising on a plate
shapes shifting
the rushing rivers
rapids... falls... always searching
returning home
clouds carry rivers
waterfalls biding time
flash flooding
nature... world's doctor
twenty-four seven... open
inundated

A Superior Being
Mankind, the superior being roaming the earth,
for he alone is capable of intellectual thought,
it is instill in his or her essence from birth,
for it is but what each one of us are taught.
If only the reality of substance could be told,
discerning our crude aggressive way,
powering and enabling us to be so bold,
while instilling us conquerors by light of day.
If you upset or confuse us then you will die,
for we kill out of bewilderment and greed,
never understanding or even asking why,
incapable of grasping the depth of our deeds.
Subspecies live in harmony and peace,
surviving in an orderly fashion beyond belief,
the insects and animals kingdom could teach,
our anguish and suffering could find relief.
Superior does not mean intellectually bright,
defined as controlling and dominance,
we repeat our mistakes not seeing the light,
sacrificing all in the name of prominence.
