o this immortal, mortals tab god.
what is a deity to whispers in odds,
ordains frivolous gall?
and what say, god, of global appeal’s
pious prayers;
spurning collaterals of zeal,
the allowance of suffer in
war pales?

Competition ...
what keeps us alive
Sharpening our edges
fueling our drive
Setting new benchmarks
pushing the bar
Forever defining
— just who we are

Walz fiddled while the city was burning
National Guard assist he was spurning
Just as Old Nero fiddled
Mayor Walz also diddled
His judgement was, oh, so undiscerning

Distance

The miles

time
has divorced
Spaces

flowing

As coming

fade in

The gates open at twilight
Gates for the strong, lost at night
The keeper sees everyone that passes by
Through the gates of brass and willoughby
Tormented souls bereft of sight
Under the curse of stolen moonlight
Outside the gates are flooded by roohu ghosts
A brouhaha of wandering cluster posing as hosts
Uninvited by the shining keeper
Howling like bitten preys of the ripper
Blinded by nebulous smoke that quells
Spurning unworthy spirits under spells
The keeper bolster the burnished gates of the knight
Left are girded soldiers groping for light
When the gates opened
The keeper questioned the strong soldiers of faith:
"Why are you all blind?!..."
Soldiers cried, "We were deceived by angels of false faith behind"
"I just opened your eyes...
Keep your faith in Thee and reach for the skies!"

The bells of Christmas loudly ring
declaring Christ, the Savior’s birth
with angels’ choir, they join to sing
announcing God’s descent to earth.
The bells of Christmas gladly ring
proclaiming peace has come to earth
through Christ who came goodwill to bring
and dying offer man new birth.
The bells of Christmas sadly ring
foreseeing that the chosen race
would reject Christ their Lord and king
spurning his love and saving grace.
Hear the bells of Christmas ringing
to us hope and healing bringing.
Christ from heaven condescending
saving grace to us extending.
Soon the bells of heaven will ring
when Christ from earth his children bring
then her gates wide open will fling
to welcome saints, while angels sing.

She prayed for a stallion,
But got a mare
She cursed not the gods for spurning her wish
Instead, she found the mare a stable
And lo, a beautiful stallion sired the mare a foal
That foal is now a stallion every groom clamors for
For out of him births another stable
She understood seasons, she overpowered time

Stony gray clouds of Winter’s night
Spurning Spring’s arrival
Snaring hearts in the darkness of hibernal chasms
Stubbornly rejecting wretched souls a rival’s kiss
Seasons of Doubt lasting beyond hope
Swiftly shackling yearnings of youth
Softly whispering slanderous words—
Surely all is hopeless
Steadily sinking toxic barbs
Surrender your foolish prayers
Serenades the Shallow Liar
Shall I lurk endlessly in my secret place
Surrounded by ashen walls of uncertainty
Stumbling blindly through dubious grime
Snagged by roaring reticence
Silently anticipating a response yet to come
Shall you withhold your words until I succumb
Submitting to bristled taunts
Subliminal sneers of unseen foes
Sauntering scoffs scarring my soul
Should I stand from upon bended knee
Surrendering my incessant pleas
Seeing with unveiled eyes at last
Sensing with tingling nerves the
Silence of my God of past
Spurning the end of
Seasons of Doubt

Absent any arrogant disdain and curses
O where are the oracles of oblivion?
Were they transformed into scattering electrons,
Doomed to roam a panoply of multiverses?
Will black holes pull such souls into witless demise,
In a penumbral, mindless quantum destiny?
If they placed their life bets for an eternal prize,
What a paltry payout to win for eternity!
Among all those who faithfully opt to believe,
Rejecting lifeless prophecies as do deceive,
They fare far better, oblivion or multiverse -
True faith knows oblivion is a devil’s curse.
Mephistopheles' paradise is wormy blaze;
Spurning devil’s delights, offers heavenly days.

If mankind
Peers into the eyes reflected upon silver glass
Spurning egos nestled deep inside
You would know my Image
If mankind
Sets his ear against the winds of early morn
Traveling endlessly from east to west
You would hear my Voice
If mankind
Would rise above this mutinous orb
Mocking all desires
You would realize my Mercy
If mankind
Opened their hands releasing all worries
Escaping upon feathered wings
You would feel my Grace
If mankind
Holds my creation against his beating heart
Exploring the knowledge found in every seed
In every valley, on every mountain
You would know my Name
If mankind
Will...
You would know my love

Anemones are the symbols of anticipation and fragility.
Daffy bent down suddenly, and picked a small startled white flower. “Anemone,” he said, handing it over; he made her repeat the word until she had it right. “Find me a silk to match that.”
—Emma Donoghue
INSIDE GARDEN OF ANEMONES
inside garden —
its wiggle of ultra fine threads,
pastel blue and pink wormy stems.
full-frontal petals, contiguous.
blossom’s cerulean, buttercup and bittersweet.
the velvet sky, black.
its vibrant neon flowers
bright, float in the canvas-night,
though a few, unopened, droop
like indian pipes.
spread of unscented paint —
dry, flat, spurning soil,
a floral garden
surrounded by
a golden frame.
its wall is white.
