Dreams Of Paradise

Our earthly realm of wonder and beauty
Observing its glory is our living duty
The most exquisite sight I have ever seen
Was a paradise island I have never been

A tiny green dot in the mighty ocean blue
Unleash your dreams and you may visit too
Just close your eyes and raise your sail
You’ll be carried there by a windy gale

I came ashore to electric blue plankton glow
Greeted upon arrival to a bioluminescent show
Beach sand glinted with a hue so golden
A majestic visual treat that left me beholden

Birds of flamboyant colour stunned me aghast
Exotic green jungle so lush, dense, and vast
I discovered an abundance of tropical trees
Many splendrous species, quite keen to please

I decided to dwell there, in a cabin of bamboo
Cruising immaculate streams in my little dented canoe
At night, I marvelled, as the cosmos triumphantly danced
Sitting serenely by my campfire, euphorically entranced

I awoke that morning in blissful peace
For I conjured an idyllic place, never to cease
It exists within my beating heart and my musing mind
Every time I close my eyes and dream, paradise I find

as we thin out ego
by befriending silence
we become vividly cognisant
of the energy grid within
being breath of God

poised in the void
ego that never was dies
revealing Self that was and is
our true being splendrous
radiating love and light

In beautiful planet blue
the sky displays cosmic hue
paints the oceans night and day
streams take land’s gifts all the way
splendrous seasons come and go
their charm nature’s facets show
in beautiful planet blue.

First Love

As silent as a sparrow,
she hopped into my heart.
She made me dream the sweetest dreams
that never will depart.

Our love was technicolor
like autumn's splendrous leaves.
We danced through winter's coldest snows
and into spring's reprieve.

We shared our hopes and wishes,
our diamonds of the dawn.
When Easter lilies bloom their best,
I looked and she was gone.

She took my poor heart with her
and left a vacant place,
but even after fifty years,
I still can see her face.

I never have forgotten
our season in the sun.
If only we could dance again...
But alas, the dance is done.

Lyrical Pure Land Hymn

O boundless the land
Built by Amida’s hand,
O splendrous the sky
Of his fair paradise,
A beauty to behold,
A wonder to enjoy,
An august afterlife
For the faithfully wise,

Gleaming with purple
And paved with gold,
Groves of lush trees
Of lapis lazuli leaves,
Sweet beryl berries,
And scented petals
Of agate and crystal,

A gleaming dominion
Of glowing pavilions,
Of lofty resplendence
And fragrant brilliance,
Pulling poor souls
Away from worldly woes
With a breeze of Bodhi
And blissful Samadhi!

Love Is Fleeting, But Land Is Eternal

Love is fleeting, but land is eternal,
Give me a world, a corner of my own
Filled with forests and fields and minerals
By the shores of the emerald ocean,
Give me the hills and valleys and amber
Arbors by the snowy peaks and gorges,
And upon this generous gift I shall
Build bustling cities, tasteful towns and quaint
Villages, I shall pave roads and till the land,
Plant lush groves and splendrous English gardens,
Creating a wondrous Eden of my own,
So that my ideals may be always known
By even generations yet unborn!

The Light of Amitabha

Upon the earth and within men’s hearth
All wander to labor when Helios beams
And slumber and dream to the gleam of Selene

Above Meru’s height are devas lofty and bright
Their wealful delight are theirs by virtuous right
They glide beyond the skies in their very own light

But there is a brilliance more harmonious
Much fairer and many times more luminous
Than all the resplendence of heaven combined:

The Light of Amita hath warmth and enlightens
It heals the afflicted and comforts the frightened
It eases the mind and sees the heart to brighten

Boundless, everlasting and all-embracing
It shines forth augustly and upon those passing
Freeing them from falsity and Yama’s lashing

His golden stature, peerless and splendrous
Behold his Pure Land! Wondrous and marvelous
Adorned with gems and devoid of the heinous

Thus, chant his name and have faith in his Land
Vow to arise in the Buddha-land most grand
To be amongst the beings redeemed by his hand

Two-thousand miles to my destiny

Leaving all I'd ever known, behind,
I traveled across the Nation.
Tears flowed as I waved to them
Still standing at the station.
He'd said he'd be the first in line
When I reached my destination..
If he wasn't there, what would I do?
My cash I'd have to ration.

The year was nineteen forty one.
No one had any money.
But I had the utmost faith in him,
The one who called me Honey.
The train pulled in, my love was there.
The cloudy skies turned sunny.
There was no doubt we'd soon be tied
With the bonds of matrimony.

I don't remember any flowers
And gay ribbons were not rife.
No family and friends were with me,
Our wedding cake was a Duncan Phife..
But my wedding was splendrous and special
Because it made me his wife;
Though only strangers were there to see
The start of our happy new life.

An Ode To Clam Chowder

Oh, clam chowder, how I would love
You to be like the thing you claim you taste of.
You're seafood, soup, potatoes, all warm
And bubbling in a splendrous, thick liquid form.
Your amount of potatoes, though is extensive,
Because I guess that clam is just too expensive
To be present in amounts that meet my desires.
But I suppose you'd be too costly for buyers.
But aside from that, clam chowder, you're alright.
I'll probably still have some tonight.
