Lovely weather for Dunners' ducks

Lovely weather for Dunners' ducks (tongue in cheek peek at Dunedin's historic deluge)

"Stares upstairs..

Angels’ weeing above..

Be a good chap..

Show some love bruv..

Turn off the tap..

*****
No refuge from the subterfuge of the deluge..

Parched sandbag phalanxes..

Ranks marching in flanks..

Arching across busted banks..

Quaffing..scoffing..downpour spanks..

**********
Disbelief at the leisurely river Leith..

Despairing at it baring...glaring..teeth

Hurling....haring to unsheaf grief..

Mischief rashly unfurling…

Brashly whirling beneath.

Bawdry..tawdry thief...

******
Baffled..can't they see...squiffy South D in a jiffy downed..

Snaffled..drowned and raffled to the sea..

Don't they care...iffy white caps slaps..won't perhaps spare even sniffy..

Snooty..spiffy St Clair..

****
This rain ruckus.. pluvial palaver...

Whichever not whatever...

It totally sucks..

Planet forever in..

Fluvial flummoxed flux..

Tis rather lovely weather..

Though for Dunedin's ducks.."

Premium Memberdapper giraffe

Dapper giraffe had never felt spiffy like this.
He danced a little dance around a sweet little miss.
She was a filly who gave him an appreciative eye.
He felt so dapper and handsome, he let out a sigh.

We should have bought him a suit sooner, said Dad.
When I brought it up though, he always got mad.
I think he was afraid other giraffes would make fun.
Instead they all surrounded him, I mean everyone.

Premium MemberHorse is Interested in her Moves

Her horse was interested in her moves, he could not stop staring.
She put on her lipstick and rouge, in order to show she was caring.
Make up seemed imperative to young women in nineteen sixty-three.
I saw her looking all spiffy, she looked incredibly pretty to me.

Of course I am her daddy, and love everything about my girl.
So does her stallion, she has named him Mr. Wheatfurl.
He is almost as protective as me, he adores my girl, Louise.
She is as pretty as the sun, and as flighty as a summer breeze.

Premium MemberGrandpa Knew What to Say

Grandpa Elephant had a new lady friend on line.
He invited her to meet him at Scarsdales to dine.
Dressed up in his Sunday best along with his Derby hat.
Don’t you look spiffy! His grandchildren said, so phat!

Grandpa was given six or eight pieces of advice.
From youngsters he was older than six times twice.
I am ninety-six he told his grandson Roy.
I know what to do, so leave me alone little boy.

Premium MemberGetting Caught in an Elevator

My daughter who was then, just about seven.
The sun had just settled softlty in the Pacific.
We were in Ghiradelli Square, a joyful place,as is heaven.
Into an elevator we went so sparkling clean and spiffy terrific!

It was an elevator with walls of shiniest metal.
I pressed the command button, to take us merrily down!
Alas, the brightly lit buttons, did not work as itheu should.
Its tall, chrome doors shut, but the elevatotr refused to move?
How I frowned!!

Aha! But not to fret, I was intelligent enough to recall….
And reassure sweet Elena, that I would find a way out.
With lightning speed, I recalled the phone on the wall.
And so I could call and smoothly we’d be safe and let out!

My heart filled with joy, to that phone, I hustled posthaste.
I prayed, oh, please, let some Angels be very near.
But finding out the panel was dead, my heart sunk to my waist!
Suddenly, a knock on the door, help had arrined, Elena and I
gave three cheers!!

Premium MemberCritterature: Such Stuff As Dreams Are Made Of

The narwhal, so some people say,
Is the unicorn of the ocean,
And when he does what narwhals do,
He's poetry in motion.
His "tooth", an ivory swordlike tusk,
Is unique and rather spiffy,
Although it has a tendency
To make his love life "iffy".
The bigger ones are thought to be
More sexually prolific,
But that's the stuff of fantasy,
So let's not get more specific.
Norbert Narwhal's girlfriend says
That even though she's flattered,
She likes him for his intellect,
His size has never mattered.

Premium MemberSpiffy Spiders In a Bag

Spiffy spiders in a bag.
Each was donning a top hat.
Each was holding a bright flag.
Just what do you make of that?

The top hats were silken black.
Each flag was flying so high.
Each spider lay on his back.
Just what to wonder and why?

Eight legs rose up in the air.
Each one waved his flag around.
Each hummed a song of Eau Claire.
	Just where musing jolly found?

The flags moved from leg to fang.
Each signing change of baton.
Each now in cocksure voice sang.
Just why did that song catch on?

I left them in that black bag
Each one now dancing around.
Each one stepping wig and wag
Just how can I grok that sound?

Premium MemberDaisy Debbie and Darlene

Talk of the barnyard today were Daisy Debbie and Darlene
Three piglets whose mother is rarely and not often seen.
They are as sociable as she is elusive, shy, hidden and quiet.
That she is the mother of these piglets is truly a riot!

They must take after their daddy, observed the cow and horse.
They are spiffy and jiffy, dancing and prancing, usually off course.
Their snorting is loud, and they make themselves known.
They are as loud as a 747 who is being crankily flown.

Daisy, Debbie and Darlene, take after their grandma Sow.
She was a showgirl, a high stepper, that sow was a wow!
Three piglets in the barnyard who keep us all on our toes.
Where they will end up is anyone's guess, said the goat named Boze.

Premium MemberPilot Dog

Pilot dog flew the airplane with ease
Cumulus clouds gave him a bit of a tease
This was his thousandth solo flight
Instrument panel said things were all right

This 747 was fancier than most, a little bit spiffy.
He had some things to say, but his co-pilot was “iffy”.
So, he kept things to himself, and prayed the weather would clear.
Breathing a huge sigh of relief when the destination city was near.

A successful flight captain, said his co-pilot, Barry.
He was a good egg. His constitution was bright and airy.
Pilot dog stood at the door barking a happy good bye
As the passengers disembarked, their spirits all high.

Autumn Wigs

Autumn burnishes furry heads,
even we, who however scant our hair
flourish in this wind-blown leafy.
No room for stray gray wisps;
our locks turn golden brown,
crown our minds with crinkly laurels.
Mr. Groundhog looks pretty spiffy
in his cabbage leaf toupee,
even the bent old lady
who walks pell-mell
in the Fall, the strewn and gusty,
has sewn together a wig so big
that it covers her face with beauty.

Premium MemberOutrageous and Proud

Sure signs of a spiffy winner..
Refusing to be one of the crowd!
With thoughts so rich, not thinner.
He shouts his independence out loud!

The sheep, afraid, head for the hills..
Huddling and comforting each other.
While the outrageous one, sees their ills.
Never once, willing to mirror another!
