The night got no mercy,
but I keep singing anyway.
They say freedom came,
but it walks barefoot,
bleeding on the glass of old promises
Still I smell rain-
you know that smell,comrade-
the one that comes after the dust
and says,''Not all is lost''
My baby hums freedom like a hymn,
her voice cracked like dry land waiting for mercy
We done marched,we done prayed,
and lord,we done been betrayed-
but the blues keep the bones alive.
I say,
Freedom smells like rain after dust-
a bitter-sweet perfume of survival.
And even if it never pours again,
we'll dance like thunder
On the edge of the drought
Hell smells on this nice land
Land where there is severe killing
Killing of innocent people
People hating their neighbors
Neighbors with grudge
Grudge against everything
Everything has decayed.
Decayed, as morals are in danger
Danger of living on this land
Land with endless fire
Fire from the morning until in the evening
Evening, when death squadrons chop and shoot
Shoot and set ablaze fellow humans
Humans stand in the inglenook watching the burning of men
Men observing humans terminating fellow comrades
Comrades are in hell here.
Poem by N. Mugisho
Water gushes
from the purifier
Cold mug
chills my hands
Coffee brews
in the pot
Coffee scent
fills the air
the sea breeze is fresh and cool
we see the sun as a refracted jewel
daydreams come and go flowing with the tide
i can't help but wonder why there's another side
the horizon seem to be a million miles away
so are my thoughts on this most divine perfect day
solitude impassions forgiveness and release
it seems the whole world is finally at peace

Lips mops caress waterfalls crash metallic nerve laughing gas confession
watermelon sugar sister scissors
clocks tick loud like shaved ambergris
Laminated kerosene lamps illuminate
Evanescence oblivious presence
Skull bird knives spike of peachy creamery
Pentagram ouija board machinery’
Throats chokes, nose pinched in bleached milkshakes. tiny ears buried speechless
Mousetrapped.
I gave it all
lily lavender
fragrant freely fondling
noses eat smells like cheese
Autumn begins with one fact,
Sounded by first egg to crack.
With eggs mixed In a batter,
The outcome won't matter
Because smoke is filling the shack.
I do not like the smell of any
Perfume or cologne.
Unscented are the lotions
And deodorants I own.
Yet certain flowers’ scents can help
To brighten up a mood
And lovely food aromas
Can improve one’s attitude.
We all have favorite smells
And though our senses are unique,
Agreement can be reached when odors
Absolutely reek.
She could in the chamber resume
Her role holding off pending doom
Dianne Feinstein is fit
In the Senate to sit
If her body we’d only exhume
As the year closes, Dave smells the roses
To his girlfriend Dina he proposes
Though he thought 'Nothing's wrong'
Dave had waited too long
On Dave's roses Dina soon forecloses
The Scent of summer on my skin
golden hues of remembrances
The rushing river moves quietly
into the hours of the day
Autumn steams by in fired shades
amber oranges yellows and red
The whistling winds subside
and I feel winter's chide
January shivers homsie brews
rainy days that end with snow
Wet leaves cling to the pavement
tangerine smells of home
Yes, I know fetid air has been filtering in
Everyone around chokes on the stench,
sour gin disguised as sweet words
from the mouth of the depraved, loving sin
one can never smother foul barnyard scents
It would take a thousand fragrant candles
to burn the donkey's ass
and get rid of the offensive odor and smelly gas
I sincerely wish this community
could become a site with more class
Will the rancid winds change direction
so the fumes of cow dung
stink up another pasture?
Something needs a serious correction
so, the sweet scent of roses once more
permeates the garden of poetry
poets dancing in harmony galore
you think I'm cuckoo
the smells that make me boohoo ~
gaseous poopoo
Roses smell like the birth of a new flower
Roses smell like peace, joy, laughter, and bliss
Roses smell like your favorite candle or memory
Roses smell how your favorite song makes you feel
Roses smell like coffee in the morning and tea at night
Roses smell like a good day
Roses smell like love if it wore a scent
Roses smell like happy tears
Roses smell like forever
Roses everywhere but one blooms a new
Roses everywhere but there's only one I'll choose
P.S. a dozen roses but only her petals will do...
