Notes About The Poem

We have many old politicians. Trump and Biden are both old. Ruth Bader Ginsberg never resigned. Let's celebrate our aged leaders and not make a stink about it. After all, they are role models, express themselves with ease, and we love to watch them.

so what if it smells

She could in the chamber resume
Her role holding off pending doom
Dianne Feinstein is fit
In the Senate to sit
If her body we’d only exhume

Haha. As my one friend said however, it is time to get these geriatrics out. Wish people would take a look at Robert F Kennedy Jr.

I see his appeal, but he has some extreme beliefs that scare me a bit. We're very frustrated at seeing the geriatric nice guy and the mental patient head toward the nomination. I liked Marianne Williamson last time around, but she didn't get very far. She understands what people feel and what we should do as a society. She also ran for congress and lost.

Also he is democrat but Biden refuses him protection other candidates get. I think all he can do is run on independent ticket

It amazes me that of all the intelligent capable people you have in the USA, that it’s going to come down to Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Thanks Richard. We may get those two. While we have a lot of smart people, we have even more who don’t understand the complexities of governing and world affairs. I think Biden is decent and not charismatic while Trump appeals to many people and is indecent. I prefer not letting Trump have power. Wish we had a dynamic democrat running.

Yes she was. The only issue some of us had was that she was in bad health and missed much of the last several months while she was very sick. I get that she wanted her staff or her staff wanted to stay in place as long as possible, but they all should consider the long-term health of the political system and bring in new people as appropriate. Some just love hanging on.

Very good limerick. Diane Feinstein did some good things in California, and should have stayed there. I always enjoy your limericks. I await the next.

Thanks Hilda, she was an excellent Senator and represented herself and California well. It only got slightly strange at the very end. I wonder why some people don't chose to quit and support someone younger. There must be someone qualified to do good. I will try not to disappoint with more if I can get inspiration from this crazy life.

I am trying now to make the last line of my limericks a bit of a joke or surprise of some kind. It's a lot more fun that way. You are, by the way, a remarkable presence on this site. Keep up the wonderful work you do.
