The reindeer were sleighing through the snow's glow,
Their journey smooth, with Christmas magic in tow.
But Cupid, Santa's reindeer, fell ill in the night's shade,
The journey stopped, and Santa's heart was dismayed.
Santa feared he'd miss Christmas, and children would fade,
But then he thought of their joy, and his heart was displayed.
He rallied his elves and reindeer, to find a solution's might,
Together, they worked tirelessly, to save Christmas's light.
With a new reindeer in place, the sleigh took to the sky's sail,
Santa delivered gifts on time, with a twinkle in his eye's veil.
The children's faces lit up, with joy and delight's ray,
A Christmas miracle, thanks to teamwork and Christmas's way.
Summer
Brutal, humid
Grilling, camping, hiking
Picnics, vacations, holidays, traditions
Sleighing, shivering, celebrating
Gentle, fresh

Winter
Austral, snowless
Overwintering, sleighing, happening
Ever so blustery
Wintertime

Written words by James Edward Lee Sr. 2021©
I sing the coming of winter's cold
From the north, the harsh winds blow
The spreading drifts of pure white snow
And stories true, or so I'm told,
Of courting days when old folks young
Went sleighing bundled for chilly eve
While sharing thoughts they long believed,
Singing songs they wanted to be sung.
The wonder of snowflakes falling fast
With icicles growing on bush and bough
And not neglecting the icy eyebrow
Soon brings eve's cuddling warm at last.
Then quickly home to share the place
Where crackling logs accept their fate
Where lips are warmed with the chocolate
And memories are made with love and lace.

Spring is in the air
New life...everywhere
Butterflies and bees
Trees with greening leaves
Flowers...of color
No more sleighing
Children playing...
Baseball and sports
Tank tops...short shorts
Barbecues
Hamburgers...
And hot-dogs
Rainbow...
Weather
Warmth

A fresh venture;
White snow-clad earth and downhill sleighing;
A snow couple graces the yard; twig-hand in twig-hand,
They watch the world pass by.
Winter’s flesh-cutting bite is, healed by hot cocoa with ginger and Cinnamon;
It’s scent permeating the house.
Digging out will not happen today;
Everyone’s got a vacation.
I do love snow days, especially ones when
Sun stops by to remove the snow for me.
January paints her annual landscapes in colors of jubilant laughter;
it doesn’t dull her pride to teach us that,
There’s a time for work and play.
As Rudolph practices flying, to lead for Santa's ride
Santa sits and watches him...with Donner by his side
Prancer's in the back round, head down and eating snow
To fill his belly and ready himself...when Santa says "let's go"
Dasher and Dancer and Comet and Cupid
Are in the fields, resting in the whey
While Vixen and Blitzen are at Santa's house
Shining up...Santa's sleigh
For a thousand years he's made that trip
With his red and white colored robe
The same old boots, the same reindeer sleighing
On his journeys...around the globe
He always sits in the same old place
Before it's time to leave
On the park bench at Christmas time
On the morning...of Christmas eve

Outside the snow is falling
The children are sleighing
Sometimes they start snowballing
Outside the snow is falling
“Dinner is served”, their Mom is calling
The children don’t hear what she’s saying
Outside the snow is falling
The children are sleighing!
Balance escapes malcontent minds
withered in worry, gazed through the blinds
Disconnected with the world outside
Yearn for release, all peace ceases
Guarded, distrustful, suspected malfeasance
Weary of those heart guarded treasons
People's intentions change like the seasons
Now suspicious always...in all ways
My mind narrows down like hallways
Carefully weighing the words that they're saying
Watchful of wolves as they creep in their preying
Unworthy of praying, the shepherd's off playing
unguarded sheep... ripe for the sleighing
Forever wanting of tender loving
Feeling undeserving,
a dark cloud above me
A wounded creature, cornered and lonely
licking wounds, longing for her to console me
I lay here empty............................
