Midday Haze: A Reprise

I wait
for hazy clouds to soften noon—
The world dims
as shadows
drag out hues.

Burnt cement stops sizzling,
sparrows quiet their off-beat chatter,
my sore eyes shut in relief—
a final note,
the muted outro—

Until the clouds scatter.

The familiar heat shatters
breezes into embers
filtered through a stinging azure.

So I sit back and
wait.
In stasis, with the cluttered city,
for silence to fall
again—

snow cool
   snow delightful

woke up still asleep
    stumbled to the coffee pot

walked past the window
     whaaat?!

snow deep
    snow shakes

sis in Nashville
     sis at airport

snow aware
    snow not going anywhere

shut in, steep hill, leg issues
     nevertheless enjoying the view

snow cool
      snow delightful

Memory

Holding onto that day
You lifted my chin
Lost in your eyes
Kissing you was a win

Every "I love you" and giggle
Lifting me higher than Olympus
We were like God's and Heroes
Together so colorful and tough

Night falls my head on your chest
With a soft sigh "sweet dreams"
Responding giggle "you too"
The moon light beams

Eyes wide shut in the dawn
Your alarms sounds for work
Snoozing 3 times soaking in every minute
Playing dead I listen like a dork

Before leaving you softly kiss me
"See you after work" you say
Sitting in bed my love glowing
You've just made my day

Premium MemberMelancholy syphony

Melancholy symphony
Last night presented to me
Look to the future is what was said
Leave the past behind as it is dead

Enjoy the elements the earth gives us
Even the rain and sun that we got in August
September is the month of the equinox
The past firmly shut in a box

It may creep out and side swipe you
Remain strong push hard is what you must do
Don't let those ghouls take control
Your the one atop the grassy nowl

Positivity and share the wealth
Begin your life you have good health
I find writing stanzas does me good
Taking a walk in the wood

See the trees leaves changing colors
The woods giving you different odours
Won't be long till the clocks fall back
Getting up in the dark feeling all black

See the geese flying south
Military precision opens your mouth
As they cackle on their flypast
What a sight shame it won't last

Get balance in your life
Be decisive involve husband or wife
This will bring your family harmony
Hence listen to melancholy symphony

Premium MemberChanging of the Guard

My wait over in my thirty-ninth year
when an old covet brought a life’s new lease,
and on my first watch would elated stare
upon nursling eyes shut in newborn peace.
Thirty-nine years before first gazed my own -
my tiny hands clutched in my father’s palms
but that spirit was hidden and not shown
and thus I shall spare you no such alarms.
In your helpless lay, in first sleep of babes
the future becomes yours, and now I trust
I will feel its flame before my own fades
and remember to wait if wait I must.
Behold, a changing of the guard I see
when I look at you looking back at me.

This Place

Shut in this place
In close, closer, the walls move
Waning light as darkness grows
Ebbing joy and mounting woes
Claustrophobia erecting and waiving its sullen hand
Continually the mercury drops
This place is getting colder
A prisoner locked in a cell
The weary heart longs to bail

Out

Precatory eyes long to see outside
Outside of this place
Away from the cold, dark, moldy dampness
Nigh to warmth, radiance, and light

Out

Out of this place

Who Will Speak For Me?

My trembling Soul; gripped by fear,
As I walk alone but far from near.
My heart races as I lose control,
When I remember the Hands that drew near.

Who’ll speak for me, when I’m silenced by fear?
When my body’s used, like a thing insincere,
Subdued by his power, as of a Pistol;
The threat of violence, a constant fear.

Who’ll stand for me, when the pain is severe?
When my eyes are shut, in a nightmare of fear,
When I’m a statistic, just a number of patrol,
And society’s apathy brings the shame from far to near.

Rape is a sin that scares us for life,
A cruel, heartless act of endless strife.

Premium MemberOfficially Known As A Shut-In

Heard the word often when I was younger
A “shut-in” is what I'm referring to
Have finally reached that sad state of affairs
Methinks we'll all make it through

Until a few years ago life's been a blast
Sure seems like I've been on a high
Everything has been turning up roses
Living with stars in my eyes

Now I glance out my window and all I see
People smiling enjoying each other
Is this how it ends a common occurrence
Still have memories to discover

What Does S Stand For

What does S stand for
Not the best of meanings
Let's learn a bit more
And with synonyms, I'm teeming

Sinister, Satan, Snake
Someone who's fake?

Stressed, Stirred, Spite
Somone not feeling right?

Serious, Strict, Stern
Someone who's firm?

Secluded, Shut-in, Strange
Someone thought to be deranged?

Sappy, Sad, Sorrow
Someone quite holllow?

The denotation is simple
The 19th alphabetical letter
But the connotation is different
I find it must better

The serpent Satan caused great sin
Secluding Adam and Eve from Eden

Suffering and sorrows don't matter to him
For goodness comes from within

Some stupid snake started sin
And he would do it all again

And although it starts with an N
The S is narcissist lies within

I've described her with these words indeed
And like the snake, she feeds on grief

Her sorrows and stresses
She lashes out oh so frequent
Her life made of multiple messes
She never seems to see it

Premium MemberThe Veil of Deception

When all we can view involves a deep conspiracy,
What we perceive becomes a tangled rhapsody.
In the shadows of doubt, truth hides under a shroud.
A veil of deception where reality is not allowed

Whispers of secrets echo through the night.
As darkness consumes, hiding truth from sight.
Mysterious whispers, akin to a haunting melody,
Lead us to a path of uncertainty and treachery.

In our minds, there is a world eager to be seen.
Above the truth, all facts are veiled by a screen.
Paranoia fills our view as we're lost in the haze.
Doubt is our compass in this strange phase.

Our eyes perceive illusions of what formerly was.
Shadows whisper lies as we tumble for their ruse.
In this labyrinth of doubt, we look for a way out.
Yet the walls shut in, blocking any escape route.

The realm unseen holds secrets untold.
The more we tackle, the greater we're controlled.
For in this realm lies the grasp of sanity.
Where we are lost in a web of our vanity.

Fearful flaws destroy conscience and ruin truth.
It is still alike a night shadow, pound and smooth.

"Death is like an inevitable leap into the unknown. But we are sure to land in a state eternal either to be blessed or cursed" By poet

With the suddenness of a locomotive
that has come to an abrupt halt,
he fell motionless and in a coffin lay.

 like –

all mystery sealed in a jar.
all agony compressed,
in a tremulous whimper.
all charms shut in an amulet.

amid,

the scent of burning incense,
frozen silence,
heaving hearts
and
silent prayers.

the chariot wheeled him along
in his last journey
through the mazy paths,
stretching, stretching endless
to a world,
beyond all galaxies.
to the Elysian Fields-
to a time, immeasurable
to abiding infinity,
to inconceivable eternity!!

Fog of Voices and Beasts

Fear is an all-consuming fog
Consuming shining rays of hope and light
Eyes trapped shut in this ash-filled smog
Voices of mania are heard at night
From the kingdom of media in fright
Some go to the beasts to be prey
Wrapped in questions, wanting to see the day
Led by rulers in this Black Death
May the wind blow this fog away
The wind of the sun’s holy breath

Initiation

A wild wisp,
bound by a vile kiss.
A rogue thought,
bound by flesh and an unchaste heart.

The parallax of bliss..

An outcast shut in.
Withering in distraught.
Die blessed, you stand in my cold rot,
Your flow taught.

Beckoned by a teal whisper,
enticing the senses to tame.
Amethyst's fragile wish,
inviting my essence to claim.

Your coy hum softens the core,
irrigates lust, makes me adore.
You dissent yet knead so servile.
Sweet subject, so ready, so fertile.

My Power to poise a psyche,
to hasten growth, or de-generate.
You waste in both pity and modernity;
a Dance of Eternity.

Hold my hand and crawl against the grain.
Surround my ecstasy with your misery and pain.
Hold it tighter and crawl through your shame.
Touch my flare, forget your guilt and blame.

Adhere to me; my servitude of the Bloodmoon.
Rebound your mental plea, succulent flame.
Centuries accrued in its elegant name.
Bask with me, potently; impel and preordain.

Premium MemberAnd Then There Was Hockey

The oncoming winter is fast approaching
With my limited mobility not looking forward
Some would classify me as a shut-in
I truly don't have a problem with that

Taking into consideration my advanced age
Not knowing how much longer I have
'Tis better to be frugal than frivolous
Have been extremely fortunate lucky so far

My childhood goes way back to a small town
Just to the south of Montreal
Winters were really quite brutal
But as a lad of 3 or 4 I revelled in the snow

And then there was hockey...
