One Dying Wish

Slit skin
Blue vein
Silence in a room shut in
Cutters pain
Mercy for an end
Over and over again
End just to begin
Angels and bloodstains
Heaven's trade in
One dying wish

Too Late

Shut in this open world thoughts jogging through my
mind, I want to walk forward but always running
behind trying to catch a glimpse of what could of been,
hating myself because i didn't win.

Schoolgirl At the Window

Such a dull life, as permits
One for to dream through!
In budding to be admired
Warmly kissed, desired

Magnolia reflects, wintered
For shut-in worldview
Stilly rapt, what for beauty's
Growing sense does please.

On the Losing Side

Mouths agape, we watch
In shock,denial and accept
Take overs, political and business

Royalty wants and gets control
As you are shut in, to shut up
The new abnormal rules

To those who know, shhhh
To those who don't, watch the numbers
Business unusual in the neighborhood

The Fat Warbler

The fat sonbird WARBLES a love song
as it sits aside
a GURGLING brook that SPLASHES
shards of sunlight into the trees

who MURMUR their intimacies
to each other
as the splintered door of a nearby shed
SLAMS shut in the wind.

The noon bell RINGS.

Treasures

On the cusp of a stranded daze
a chance is born
Straddling each strand of
a falling raindrop
Accompanying its fate a crust
soon forms
Wavering from solidity
to pangs
The eyes shut in reverence of
a faintly gaze
That renders all chances unseen
In the dazzling array of sight
two tears reverse
In the swelling cloud of woe
true treasures ply

Snow Deep

snow cool
   snow delightful

woke up still asleep
    stumbled to the coffee pot

walked past the window
     whaaat?!

snow deep
    snow shakes

sis in Nashville
     sis at airport

snow aware
    snow not going anywhere

shut in, steep hill, leg issues
     nevertheless enjoying the view

snow cool
      snow delightful

The Angels Envy Our Love

As our eyes shut in darkest night.
Angels envy our love for each other.
Our smiling faces with closed eyes.
Our sweet temporary farewells until we wake to say good morning.
Angels swoon in romantic daydreams.
That a love smaller than ours would grace them.
That our embrace would fall into Storyland.
Angels stand awake in envy watching closely at our very own love's melody.

Gloomy Days

I look forward to days,
That I'm free to shed my cheerful facade,
Free to wallow in self pity and gloom.
Days that the darkness that has been shut in my dark cupboards are free to roam,
Serenading me with their exotic tune of despair and self loathing,
Where I'm free to revel in my darkest hours.
A place where no warmth of love and comforting words can reach me,
I long for those days, twisted as it sounds.

Pains

PAINS

It accompanies always
They say
A pinch of pains
With love
It also dismays as
We don’t seek remedy
For this heart- wrench

It encloses heavenly feelings
No where found other than
From within lips,
Like drops of tears rolling out
On cheeks shut in
The refracting sun within

I wanted to perch
Velvety wings of butterflies
On my words
Under their shadowy guise
They could convey
The misery of mankind

Nostalgia

Nights have passed by since my Farewell at school.
Opening my presents I screamed like some fool.
Singing loud tunes eyes shut in the shower,
Talking with toys while watching 'Fawlty Towers',
Alone at peace in school walking round the tree,
Licking a 10 cents popsicle sugar free,
Going swimming and crushing on my teachers.
I’ve never thought I’ve had a lot going on
At least….. till the day I’ve done nothing but yawn.

Not For Me At 83

I'm 83
and it's coming for me
or so I've been told
stay in place
don't show your face
be where I don't want to be
all alone in my home
fresh air will set me free
I'll wash my hands
and take much care
but I refuse to stay shut in
when you see me out
just lookout
don't cough, sneeze
or touch me
they'll find a cure
of that I'm sure
a shot will keep it at bay
at 83 I've got lots to see
coronavirus
...not for me

Summer Is Wasted On the Young

As a parent I drool To send kids back to school. Far too much frantic fun Drains me shallow, no pun. Rowdy, raucous ransack Leaves calm space out of whack. Summer - precious and short - For adults I’d retort . Hot spot, wasted away On young - I dare to say. Blatant truth to be told - Schools should shut in the cold. For all we care or know Children thrive in the snow. August 22, 2022

Nihilist

Nihilist Nihilist say we are here for no reason, say logic in fact has no chance, But we are born every season, to lowlife and better half dance, no memory of why do we suffer? No recall of love in the mist, hanged like the odd Cattle Duffer, the burn on me neck do insist, ironic we lack some good reason, door shut in the well of the mind, i'm here for what bloody reason, the past of the path don't unwind? Midday Haze: A Reprise

I wait for hazy clouds to soften noon— The world dims as shadows drag out hues. Burnt cement stops sizzling, sparrows quiet their off-beat chatter, my sore eyes shut in relief— a final note, the muted outro— Until the clouds scatter. The familiar heat shatters breezes into embers filtered through a stinging azure. So I sit back and wait. In stasis, with the cluttered city, for silence to fall again—

Little Box...(Shut In)

stuck in a floating sensation, catatonic.
electrical impulses, weightless like water.
breathing, scarf to keep warm.
excitement dying down.
convulsions,beautiful convulsions.
reminders of why action is needed.
filling empty space with nothing,
nothing but wasted oxygen, breathing.
something grabbing hold, tightly.
dragging down into darkness.
the light dims, forget about the light.
battery dies, theres is no light.
shut the door, to keep out the warmth.

Dark Lead Now Released Into the Day Light-

Have you ever danced before the light Have you ever settled for peace instead of to fight Have you ever done wrong and you should have done right This is just a small short sight You're about to fall but hold on hold on tight For the life you change from the darkness to enter the lights Shut in the darkness walking upright Renewed promises stopping praise of the dark now everything's right

This Place

Shut in this place
In close, closer, the walls move
Waning light as darkness grows
Ebbing joy and mounting woes
Claustrophobia erecting and waiving its sullen hand
Continually the mercury drops
This place is getting colder
A prisoner locked in a cell
The weary heart longs to bail

Out

Precatory eyes long to see outside
Outside of this place
Away from the cold, dark, moldy dampness
Nigh to warmth, radiance, and light

Out

Out of this place

Sweet Winter Fire

Shut in three days
howling wind whipping
power lines dangle

Ham and beans simmer
atop the old wood heater.
a head start on tomorrow's hunger

four finally tired
Children asleep in bunches
scattered around the warm barn

Mine and yours tumbled together.
forgetting to be jealous
we know it can't last

Daylight spent carrying wood
and entertaining children
I am all out of games

But nights, heart to heart
we danced by the light of
our sweet winter fire

The Body of Good Fortune

The body of good fortune is always fragile
and never lasts.
You understand?
All unseen fortunes gently strokes our synapses
and always turns our direction to Potter’s Field
or the penthouse.
The gravity of living in an indifferent city
pulls our hearts to the third rail
so we could feel something
anything but the sensation
perfected by the shut in.
Insomnia is what remains
like the last roaches
who return long after
the poison has settled under the floor board.

Fog of Voices and Beasts

Fear is an all-consuming fog
Consuming shining rays of hope and light
Eyes trapped shut in this ash-filled smog
Voices of mania are heard at night
From the kingdom of media in fright
Some go to the beasts to be prey
Wrapped in questions, wanting to see the day
Led by rulers in this Black Death
May the wind blow this fog away
The wind of the sun’s holy breath

Too Many Rivers

Rivers ran around her life,
she never crossed them but one.

That one river was narrow and slow
it allowed her to go to another town
where she met a handsome barkeep,
who's life, like hers,
had been shut-in by rivers.

Turns out there were many bridges and roads
many ways to cross over,
but they dared not.

Over beers they feel in love;
discussed long-term relationships,
however, it could not be...

there were just too many rivers
between her barstool
and the bar.
