For Christmas, what I wish to see
Is you naked under my tree
You can bet the farm
That I'll keep you warm
And as happy as you can be!
Yule log traditions
It used to be burned away
Making Christmas warmth.
Today it is different;
Yule log gingerbread and cheese.

The bauble caught my reflection
Upon closer inspection
Face all distorted
I must get this sorted
Poured a beer in self abjection
Burn the Yule Log for the return of the sun!
Source of enlightenment and wisdom.
Celebrate the Sol Invictus!
Count the sparks if you wish.
Happy Solstice!

Yuletide bells chime~
frost-kissed air hums silver echoes,
a hymn spun in ice.
Deep beneath the muffled snow,
roots dream of resurrection.
Yule/Christmas
Obscene capitalism

At Christmas
Midwinter festival
Larder full we share our
Luck with our nearest
Christmas is the devil’s revenge
He was never invited
Now he gives us hell with glitter.
Owls
Through the
Lapland snows
See Santa hug
Children’s wishes in festivals of joy
Reindeer wait in barren birch through long nights
For Aurora
To string lights

Yule Tide
The pig
In the pen
Is being slaughtered
To day
Christmas starts
With a killing
Some get
Pork roast
Others get trotters
In the yard
My neighbour
Is hosing away
The blood
His sacrificial
Duty done
And I got a shoulder ham
Young and old enjoy this day.
Under the mistletoe, we can kiss away.
Light up every Christmas light.
Everyone, see how bright they are tonight.
Tidings for peace on earth, we wish each other.
It is a season for every sister and brother.
Dear to us are all that are near to us.
Everybody makes this season joyous.
Mrs Claus made a viagra eggnog
To energise ol’ Santa Claus Yule log
His frozen south pole recovered large-scale
Wagging frisky as a puppy dogs tail.
Mrs Claus dumplings hubby does adore
Her stew warms up her Santa’s inner core
Gravy so thick that it sticks to their lips
Leading to bliss of a lingering kiss.
Hot water feels like heaven rolling down my back
And even in the dead of winter sweet citrus reminds me of the sun
Sweeter still my mom presents me with my favourite snack
My best friend’s phone is always on for me
I know that he always has my back
My icy breaths give thanks to every growing tree
My grandfather’s piano rings with charming sound
Although the nights are long, dark and black
I will always be grateful for these little corners of life that I’ve found
Desperate to fill voids
underneath trees,
within stockings,
and in children’s hearts,
society’s seconds,
scratch-and-dent people,
unemployed close outs,
pick the bones of Christmas,
seeking salvation in
the clearanced,
discontinued,
and reduced-to-sell.
It’s the thought that counts,
but it’s the cash that’s counted
when money’s tight
as a hangman’s noose.
Each trinket is wrapped
in bits of brightness,
with love and hope,
and a prayer that it’s enough.
