Imitation Is the Sincerest Form of Flattery, So Don'T Sue Me, Wallace Stevens
I know what a poem
looks like.
I know how to make
my prose look like verse.
A little tuck here,
an indent there,
et voila! It’s verse!
or worse ...
a pale imitation of seem.
(can I have some ice cream?)...

For Wallace
Rolling, heavy, grey-green clouds,
Overhead, in a circular motion
Tornado, forming upwards; fear
Your last thoughts, must have been terror
Your last emotion, uncontrolled fear
Train roaring in the sky
Wind, loudly blowing, pushing against life
I cover my ears and weep...

Eighth Wonder-King Kong
Once there were two writer friends Wallace and Cooper.
Into novelization of the original King Kong film, no souper.
“Edgar Wallace didn't write any of Kong, not one bloody word...
I'd promised him credit and so I gave it to him” Cooper’s word
Bloody, informal discussions do worth acknowledgement Cooper!...

I compose poems like Wallace Stevens
I compose poems like Wallace Stevens
by walking the streets of my town.
But unlike the esteemed Wallace Stevens,
I don't have to memorize or write my poems down.
I just turn on my cellphone's recorder,
then slowly whisper my word into it.
But instead of composing gems, like Wallace Stevens,
I then to produce just a drivel of shhhhh~it....

Trials of Trance
Wallace Stevens was the greatest
man I never knew.
Juggled both Hunting Tigers
and hanging nouns.
Wonder about his demeanor
walking about the courtroom
with even heeled shoes,
focusing on the even keeled beat.
A dozen orbits and
twice that in satellites
quivering to witness twisted truths,
be they that or not.
Phrased.
Articulated.
Blatently controlling the room,
his stage....

Out of the Mouths of Babes
(In Memory Of the late Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls)
About My leaving here, it was all a
dream
A living nightmare, or, so it would
seem
With Me coming to falter on the
balancing beam
After coaxing on Stardom, gently
down the stream
Just cause Somebody felt a need to
blow off steamd
But, like I said, it was just All a dream
That is, until I heard My dear Mother
scream
(RIP Biggie Smalls)...

The Colours Have It
A water colour cloud of blue obscures the scene below,
where pastel bodies testify to a subtle change of hue.
Through gun smoke mist the flags display no different colour shade,
as all across the battlefield the trumpets blue notes fade.
The cerulean sky attires herself with cloak of slate blue tone,
and azure tears of helplessness fall on true blue bleaching bones.
The colours have It Competition

Poets Cannot Hide
Wallace Stevens said:
"Poetry is not personal."
He tried never to divulge
anything about himself
in his poems.
Or so he said.
But, the work
is self-revelatory, veiled confessions,
repeated choices -- water, sea motion,
weather, the sky -- introspective isolation --
those silences and descriptive phrases
that communicate and characterize.
Human,
no one -- especially not poets --
can really hide....

A Bag Full
Bowls 'n' bags 'n'
branches 'n' trees
Orchards 'n' lives 'n'
meanings and needs
Taste the sweet meat of
Prunus avium - Bing,
Sweetheart, Rainier, Tulare
the tart, the sweet
the redness - a treat
A bowl, a bag,
by hand-to-mouth
to suck - to chew
to rave - to espouse

Epitaph For the Hero--Wallace
Here I lay my soul to rest
in life I fought to pass the test
In the end I failed you not
but your love was for another and cheaply bought
so many wrongs i righted with my sword
its edge dulled upon your word
my shield broke when you tore my heart
but i stayed and played my part
no armor or buckler made so strong
could ever right your unfaithful wrong
of that i lay here as proof
a fallen fool under love's deceiving hoof...
