veil of space
though subtle
falls away
the shimmer
may be seen
when we’re still
what’s real
what’s valid
we know not
The veil of autumn drops low
fiery hues fade and die
leaving crisp memories of
walking hand in hand
Penned 6 September 2014
Lift the outer veil
Life’s mystery waits patiently
Behold the new world
The breeze gentle in its touch
The wind understands so much
wispy dawn rising
ethereal flute of light
lances the vaporous shroud
spiderweb glistens
an intricately woven
and intangible beauty
Reaching into the maelstrom,
my hands were consumed
My spirit to follow
—my will to assume
(Villanova Pennsylvania: October, 2020)
rain fell heavily
across ancient memories
I clearly saw truth
scrubbed clean of invented dreams
my anserine guise unveiled
your gaze hides a love
entrenched deep within your heart
peeking through the veil
a shy glance that holds my world
like dahlia blooms all seasons
Her wish can never be.
She blows out birthday candles with effort.
Scarcely holding back the tears.

The future calls our name just once,
hello awaits goodbye
The past a veil to what’s been learned
—the truth wrapped in a lie
(H.U.P. May, 2020)
Elusive at best her history
A mystery kept under lock and key
~ Who’d dare open that door?

Like a thief in the night
academia
wears enlightenment
as a mask
hiding its true agenda
— a stranglehold on the truth
(Dreamsleep: January, 2024)
The veil is off we can see
The real you and your true face
Standing together
Yet standing apart
The boxing gloves are on
And they’re string up tight
Lugubrious veil
Covers your lachrymose soul
With melancholy
Uncovering treacherous
Grooves in the path you walked

As she walked down the aisle I was smiling
My blushing young bride was beguiling
After kissing, do tell
I re-lowered the veil
My excuse was "our wedding's freestyling."
A marionette of the void
Aware of the needle like strings,
Stranding on the edge of light
Yet covered by the veil of hollowness
A woeful homunculus, gazing at the abyss
Flicker of light shown through lace
Clouds swirl and scurry around
Crystalline ageless white moon
Dreams beneath your veil

veil of night opens
moist lace swelling on his trunk...
cherry and fragrant

layer by layer uncover
light of truth in playful caper
in timeless time, all becomes clear
ineffable bliss, each pore spears
propelling soul to realms higher

The world God’s illusion
deceiving Himself
Birthing a metaphor
sleight of His hand
Time as the smokescreen
veiling the folly

Ballet, beer and bees.
It's good to keep the Bs together.
The Bs can be good company.
Ballet, we watch; beer, we quaff;
bees, we keep; veil, we wear.
Good to enjoy B, B and B. And that V.

Deep inside my past did stir
against the present's whirlwind blur
No picture, story or recording
could match its poignance, affording
me a veil to lift, to uncover
a past well lived, my secret lover
This is a first memory,
Walking next to the pram, you see,
My sister in her infancy,
It was long ago and far away,
Trudging on a hot summer's day,
Heat, dust and veil of flies,
Hot and thirsty, no surprise!

gossamer laces
adorn the face of young love...
the veil of promise
a traditional haiku 5/7/5
Life, after our death lingers sure,
thoughts do linger, the more,
till the other side of the veil, has been crossed,
friends do restore, loved ones we adore,
and soul-hearts come together,
not lost...
