I have the ingredients for a funny limerick
You have to use a bit of turmeric
It eases the pain
From a nagging ball ‘n’ chain
Stick her head in it and simmer it
host of clouds
closing from the horizon,
a downpour of rain……………….. imminent
cars floating,
river in the roads……
Hot korma
Turmeric field drowned…….
No curry tonight.
Turnips are delicious,
Turmeric is tasty:
Tartlets are officious,
Truffles make for hasty
Toss-ups. It seems vicious,
Turbot served in pasty
Titbits. It’s pernicious!
A poet once tried to rhyme “turmeric”:
he ate ten big jars, and then murmured “Ick!”
His taste buds murdered,
poor dear old Bernard
bolted up three flights of stairs to be sick.
Chicken, yogurt, garlic, ginger,
garam masala, cayenne,
turmeric, cilantro simmered in a skillet.
Mint, and mustard-seed sauteed
aromatic till it pops. Inhale,
taste India.
Turmeric,cumin and clove
Pungent aroma
Taste buds awaken with style
Juicy chicken chunks
Buttered almond top
Silky rice
Spiced!

Lure of sunset quiets the soul
Mellowing hazed thoughts from day's work
Nothing but herbal tea clears mind
Oft not , caffeine- loaded Starbucks -
Peace wafts by brewing turmeric

Combine chicken and yogurt; garlic,
ginger, turmeric, cayenne. Saute mint
and mustard-seed till aromatic and seeds
begin to pop. This from memory,
the cookbook’s lost. You have to intuit
quantities, and what to slice, mince,
chop, or dice. Serve on basmati rice
with cilantro and condiments of choice.
Inhale, close your eyes, taste India.
The setting sun, a turmeric coloured sky
Two parallel electrical wires stretching out
Into the horizon
On them sit birds in line, their silhouette’s dark
Still in their connection.
As if someone has placed alphabet’s on a line
To pluck and place in verse or rhyme
And daily at dusk some poet somewhere
Writes a rhyme or a couplet on a line.

Feeling Rough
Sore throat, runny nose,
Could be a cold I suppose,
Or could it be influenza?
I think I need a detox cleanser
Turmeric, folic acid, gingko leaf
I'm feeling rough beyond belief
High B.P. and heart attack
Been called a hypochondriac
Gout in toe, earache
I never know what to take
Rheumatism in both knees
That Ibuprofen gel seems to ease
All my ailments could fill a page
My greatest one is called old-age
Bright turmeric foliage
Sign of transition in life
Lambent lush turns up after
The hibernation.
