Sunrise Tableau

Light beckons this morn-

first rays filter free

tepid sprigs trip up

life left still, sans rest;

worn breaths hesitate

red eyes dissipate

Try So Hard

I try so hard
Why should I cry so hard
These lies are so hard
Buys nothing, but my tears
I try so hard
Tears drip so hard
Trip up on my fears
Wearing me down so hard
I try so hard

Fishing

It's a sky fishing day
and I am on the hook eyes being pulled up
above the surface of the clouds.
If I trip up while walking
if I lay myself out like a fish on a slab
then haul me back into the water,
the deep blue water
far above the sea.

more to life than meets the eye ~ said the blind man who slipped in a pigsty

but some swine oinked pigs might fly ~ this trip up will cause a huge overfly

and sure enough as days went by ~ eyes appeared damn vultures in the sky

the lesson learnt here don’t ask why ~ sh!t just happens when in oversupply

I thought I’d write a limerick
(As sonnets now just make me sick)
But can’t for all the friggin’ rules
That always trip up southern fools;
So, thus, a couplet has to do
For me to say what’s next to you:
Howdy, Soupers, guess who’s back –
It’s Phil, the convict “poet” hack!
Free at last aft’ 90 days
Spent missing all through orange malaise;
I'm finally here (and glad to be)
Where brilliant friends live poetry.

Hello.  :)

Moraga Steps

How can path, concrete and steel,
be more than stairway up a hill?
It can be mural of startling parts,
complex vision of mystical arts;
tiled artwork, colors fantastic,
one hundred sixty steps majestic.
Myriad fishes, seaside delight,
swim beneath crescent moonlight;
gorgeous flowers, many flying thing,
as if Van Gogh made ceramic sing!
Each glazed panel is wondrous,
no trip up steps too ponderous.
Every tourist should gladly go,
to this sight in San Francisco.

Love poems are written
By better men than I
I am not that outside-your-window
Serenading kind’a guy

My proposal wasn’t offered
Bent down upon one knee
Romantic sonnets I cannot read
I trip up on the word “thee”

But romance is not foreign
In the heart of this old man
Although showing it extemporaneously
May be out of my command

I am hopeful that with three little words
My romantic side can shine through
As I look you straight in the eye
And simply say, “I love you”

Not Us!! No Way!

the silvery shivers were something new
I hoped and wondered if you felt it too
there were so many words I wanted to say
and then I heard.. Not US! NO WAY!

you kissed my lips and held my hand
I wanted to claim you and move on with my plan
I prayed "I love you" is what you would say
but instead you uttered Not US! NO WAY!

be my best friend you asked with a smile
never seeing my evil plot to bequile
and make a trip up the aisle some day
as everyone screams NOT THEM! NO WAY!
